The choice would depend on the aliens' cultural bias. I think I'd rather have a 'sum-of-all-human-knowledge' AI represent us because a person might bork things up... which wouldn't be fun with a planet-wide incineration protocol on stand-by on their side. :)

Let's assume that we know nothing about the alien's cultural biases. That's what makes this so tricky :g: Do we send a scientist, a politician, a warrior, a priest, or someone else entirely?

I'd lean towards scientists.

That would, for sure, be the safest choice, considering that such society must value science if it has achieved inter-stellar travel capabilities... but then again, one can never tell. Maybe an average Joe would do best (but only if he's clearly labeled as average and not as a representation of humanity at it's best). That way we demonstrate humility and invite them to further dialogue exchange if they're willing to learn more of us (at least those things which they couldn't have ass-probed out of us anyway).

Posturing and fawning up to what we deem them to be would be a suicide move in my opinion.

Not only is he a politician and posseses the ability to talk the pants off (lol) anybody. He's a great guy and has done tons of outstanding work for America and other countries throughout the world. If anybody could be diplomatic while also being intelligent. It's Willy.
