Javaris is gone, who is next to go, surely you would think we keep sherron now unless a major injury occurs.

I'd like to see us hang on to Rogers and stash him in the D-League this season, but I don't think that will happen.
I also don't think Collins is as safe as everyone thinks now that Crittendon is gone. I wouldn't be surprised to see LB cut him and then pick up a veteran journeyman PG that is floating around the waiver wire.

I would say it's down to Miles and Collins for the last spot. But Collins will get it because Larry likes having a 3rd pg.

Especially with the injury concern with Livingston, you have to go with Collins, right?

Unless MJ takes a hit and eats Najera's guaranteed money, Miles and Rogers. Are gone

I agree with Ziggy about Collins , I think hes gone as well as Rogers and Miles.
I would all most bet by opening day we have a vetran point . AI would sell much more than he cost . I know Brown is on board with it . But MJ and Higgins are still saying no .
Im sure Brown is screaming to get thease two holes filled be for season starts .
I looked on hoopshype today and it looks like , UPS . Livingston hasn't got a guarnteed contract. Seemed insteresting.

Since the name was mentioned i will just say: if we cut Derrick Brown i will shit out of my mouth and vomit from my asshole.
I would also recommend cutting Collins. We need a real point guard, and fat slow guards have no place in the NBA. He has talent but like Sean May or Oliver Miller he is his own worst enemy. The production of our second unit is all going to be based off who our point guard is. Kwame, UPS, Henderson, Carrol, Najera, and Tyrus Thomas all are not capible of creating the amount of offense we need from them to be sucessful. I know i might get lynched for saying this, but Larry Hughes knows our system and proved in New York and Washington (pre-Gilbert) he can play point guard. Even if we dont get Hughes we need somebody to set people up. Livingston COULD but he is injured and we need to act as if he wont be here this year because their is a very good chance he wont. Sign a vet for 1 year and let Shaun rest for next season.

Very good post i compleatly agree . [Is UPS locked into a contract] If not we should not just sign him for this season but offer a three year contract starting at about 1 mil a year . The kid is our next s/f .
Our gapeing hole comes at back up point Collins just isn't ready . Surely MJ and Higgins has to see it.
With the inprovements of UPS and Thomas . Diaw could very well be expendable . I look for management to become more aggressive moving Diaw .
K Brown might have lost his back up center position tonight to Diop . Diop in a fight with UPS for most inproved and is making the most of his playing time with six blocks tonight and tons of energy. 20 Pounds lighter hes looking like our best big defender . He must have saved DJ 10 times tonight on the drive .
I look to see one vetran hand picked by Brown . Hughes might just be that guy considering the play so far of Henderson .

What I'm thinking about after looking at the salary situation and players...the one thing I'm unsure of is how buying someone out hits us for cap...
Move 1: Tell butterball to talk a walk...
Move 2: Tell McGuire to take a walk (or a hobble?)
Move 3: Sign Matt Rogers to a non-guaranteed 1 year with team option second year.
Move 4: Pick up a good combo guard (one who is a point first, SG second, we've got SGs out the wazoo). Hughes would work, albeit I wouldn't be excited about it...
End result: A 3rd guard, so no pressure on Livingston. A backup center in the D-League in case Kwame is still Kwame :)
First unit: DJ/Jax/GW/Diaw(yup)/Nazr Sixth Man: TT
Second unit: Vet PG/Henderson/Brown/TT/Diop.
The idea is that most times a starter will be on the court, i.e. a lineup like DJ/Carrol/Brown/TT/Diaw, so there is always experience on the court.
The loss of McGuire won't change our depth, as lets say Jax misses a week with the flu (I wont mention any worse than that, use your imagination) in that case we do this:
DJ/GW/Diaw/TT/Nazr, or if we're liking our young guys that moment maybe DJ/Hendo/GW/Diaw/Nazr. Same if we lose Wallace to the flu, we can run DJ/Jax/Diaw/TT/Nazr, or DJ/Hendo/Jax/Diaw/Nazr.

I think Dominic stays around, this year is guaranteed on his contract for $885k (Jordan could eat that, but I don't think LB will throw the kid under the bus, especially since he feels somewhat responsible for pushing him after the injury).

Why even consider signing Rogers when we can sign Earl Barron ? Flip if still around would be perfect fit . As bad as Hendo is playing.. With no worries behind DJ.
So far in the preseason Brown and Thomas has out played JAX and Crash.
Forget Collins , Rogers, and MJ might just cut McGUIRE a bad signing any way.
Some one tell me if UPS and Livingston are Guarteeded , If not let Livingston walk. .

Livingston is guaranteed for 2 years (3.5 per) and the 3rd is a team option also for 3.5 per.
UPS is unguaranteed but we control his rights. Just a formality, and who knows...maybe we'll lock him up on a deal...something like 3/5 maybe.

Flip wouldnt be able to carry the bench the way we need our reserve point guard to. While I love Flip and the chemistry he, Jackson, and Wallace had he doesnt fit what we need.
I checked a free agent list, and the name that stuck out most to me is Rafer Alston. He would be a great fit and would even be a possible starter if DJ starts to mess up.
I dont think anyone here can honestly say that if something happens with DJ (and with Shaun's current health) we would feel comfortable with Collins being the primary option. Larry Hughes or Alston are my top 2 picks for reserve pg.

Skip to my Lou is about as bad of a locker room influence as Iverson. Not saying to rule him out, I'm just saying I don't think we'd consider it if mgmt are not even entertaining the thought of AI.

harrison barnes may be a shorter durant. he is pure money as a scorer.

I was referring to, he'll put on a barnstorming tour before entering the draft because he's already NBA-ready and this retarded HS rule keeps him from already being in the NBA.

I'm not saying he will because millions are alluring. But he stated awhile back that part of the choice of UNC was their three year graduation plan. So it is possible...

He doesn't have to play basketball all three years to get his degree...hell, Sean May is still working on his.

In all fairness, Sean is working on his because it comes with the unlimited meal plan.

worst possible outcome since we don't have a 2012 pick. if rivers, irving, barnes etc are available in 2012 i will be sick.

Actually, depending on how you look at it, that could be a dream come true. BUT, it would me we suck this year and are in the lottery for the 2012 draft (that is the bad part). That pick that we 'don't have' is actually a top 14 protected pick in 2012. (which is the good news if we have a horrible season this year.
> Bulls (conditional if pick is #15 or worse) — Traded Tyrus Thomas to Bobcats for Ronald "Flip" Murray, Acie Law, 2012 first round pick (protected top 14 in 2012, top 12 in 2013, top 10 in 2014, top 8 in 2015, unprotected in 2016) (?-?) on 2010-02-18
