alright, we are just about ready to enter the season. we have seen what our preseason roster has done, specifically the point guards. here is the question:

knowing that jax will not be happy on a bad team and that gerald is firmly in his peak years, would you go with dj and hope he doesn't fail, landing us again in the lottery. or would you offer AI a one year un-guaranteed deal to split pg time with dj and back up jax at the sg position?

in the past i was firmly against AI. i think i am now good with him on the team. i really think we are going to struggle this year. our point guard play is shaky at best. and i am not afraid of not giving hendo any playing time/developing time. i don't think he is good enough and if we need a defensive back court sub, he is the one.

Iverson is too old. If it were 5 years ago, yes. But now at a very old and beat up 35, No.

Simple NO, he wont contribute more than the trouble he causes and it will just give the NBA another chance to laugh at us again

Hasn't AI come up every year for 3 years now??? If it hasn't happened yet I don't think it ever will.

For all the reasons listed in prior discussions on why he shouldn't be given an opportunity, I haven't seen AI actually make any public or private statements indicating his attitude/ego were a large part of the problem in why he didn't work out in Detroit, Denver, Memphis or Philly (most recently). Until his is able to see that (and acknowledge it, I don't want him disrupting our locker room or LB's limited sanity.

Yeah, umm, listen. AI is a great name, great popular player for a lot of years. Divisive since high school though and it all has to do with his attitude. I have no patience for this guy. The cost benefit doesnt add up anymore. Have y'all seen the 30 for 30 or the stories about his arrest his senior year? Wow.

ok then. i think it is case closed on this one. then, who should we pick up for scoring. fipper? what will he cost? we are in desperate need of both starting and bench scoring.

The problem is that i agree with every ones negative opinions for the guy.... BUT
If Coach and MJ could hold his shit together for a few weeks then a starting line up of AI Jack and GW would put our team in the conversation as possible contenders.... a huge step up from the "will probably make the playoffs" conversation that I think we are in now.
And for a mere 2million wouldn't it be worth the risk? His jersey sales and increased TV coverage would probably pay that much back to the team...
In this Division, Conference and League we are just average right now.

Really? How does AI take us from 7-10 in the east to top 4?

The answer: he doesn't. Come on guys, this isn't the AI of 10 or even 5 years ago. This guy is way older, way slower, and even LESS efficient. We need to stop living in the past.

I personally think all this speculation is pointless.I don't think were going to go ot and pick up any veteran scrubs for scoring.I think that devin harris or tj ford will be a bobcat by february in a trade for diaw, and i think nazi probably gets moved for a younger big @ the deadline.any "extra scorers" we get will have to be additional pieces in those trades.

And p.s. i'm gonna go ahead and call it right now.Eddie curry is going to be a bobcat after new york releases him in february,as much as i hate it.There's just too much there for it not to happen. We tried to trade for him as recently as last year, even though he's a turd he adds some post scoring, larry thinks he can fix anyone, and anthony mason who has a history as a F.O.M.,and in charlotte,is working with him and is looking for a permanent assistant gig.I think it happens.

i'm fine with either devin or tj for boris. would love andre miller for boris. don't think devin or andre have a chance though. as long as we don't do a jose for boris deal.

naz for jason thompson and filler?

if we got eddie curry for cheap/ungarunteed i couldn't complain. centers are at a premium. but if we committed long term or overpaid i would be pissed.

any big deals you guys could see materializing if the season doesn't go well or if it is going just ok?

I didn't say he actually WOULD, I just said he put us in the conversation... on ESPN and sports talk radio. We would have our 3 to match up with all the other "Big 3's" in the east. It is a story line that would get us a lot more coverage, and coverage means increased viewer ship & attendance, and that means increased profits, so I say again purely from a financial stand point, I think the bobcats would see a positive Return On Investment if they could get AI for a mere 2 million.

I have to agree with the Iverson is not the "answer" sentiment. I would have loved for him to resurrect his career here but that is simply not going to happen.

Flip Murray is probably the best option out there as far as I am concerned right now. The question is, whose roster spot does he take? We need a 3rd point guard right now considering Livingston's status so if Collins (or another veteran point) get's the 15th slot, who does Flip replace? I guess you would have to argue that Flip would be the 3rd point guard option. I see him as a combo guard somewhat but i really don't think LB goes into the season with DJ (unproven), Livingston (knee) and Flip (not a true point) being his 3 options.

It's crazy to me that your post starts off by saying that "I personally think all this speculation is pointless." ...just saying.

That said, nothing in your post would really surprise me if it happened. However, I will say that if we're to add Curry outright, at the minimum, then that wouldn't be the worst move that the 'Cats have made. However, unless some other trade opened up a roster spot, I doubt we'd be able to sign him.
