Source: 'No Legs' To Report That Knicks Are Closing In On Melo
More Nets News

A source with "knowledge of the New York Knicks' thinking" refutes Tuesday's ESPN story that the Knicks have been making significant progress in a potential trade to bring Carmelo Anthony to New York.

The source said there is "no legs to that" report from the Knicks' perspective.

One source insists the Nets have "never been out of the mix" to acquire Anthony, saying that the Nuggets remain interested in Andrei Kirienko, Gerald Wallace or Andre Iguodala in a multi-team deal.

Another source who has been involved in the trade talks continues to believe that the Nets will ultimately land Anthony.

ok we all know this isn't actual "news" but people just printing things. but, let's say we are involved and gerald goes to the nuggets. what we would we need to get back and/or give up for us to sign off on this? try to keep any proposals realistic. the other teams would also have to get something out of the deal that they would approve.

Anyone who values those three equally is fucking retarded. I'm just sayin'.

If we give up Gerald, we need an extended Melo and dump Diaw somewhere for a shooter.

but that's not how it will go. melo will go to NJ and not us. so, is there anything that would make it semi-ok? 1st rounder, young talent, solid shooter, shedding bad contracts?

We'd need to be able to dump Diaw, Gana, Matty, and Najera and make out with semi-all stars at center and point guard, and young shooters. That's it. So, no.

The whole league knows what the Knicks are "thinking", so yeah, I won't be taking this seriously.

I actually posed a question RGM a few minutes ago: Does UPS' playing make Crash more expendable than he would be otherwise?

For example, jump in that Nets/Nuggs deal with Crash going to Denver for Billups. We could probably get some other sweetener to make it nice for us..........TWill? picks?

id trade Crash for TWill and Billups, as sad it would make me

Psshh. Knicks ain't bad, they ain't nuthin'. They have no hand in this trade relationship.

Kevin Durant is the only player I would trade Wallace for in the NBA. And that's more a matter of age/primes than anything else.

Pains me to say, but if we moved GW, we'd have to dump Diop and one other salary in the process, take back Billups, nuggets first and another team's first (or a nuggets second and other team's second), I'd like to have birdman but we have TT so maybe that wouldn't mesh well, so if we didn't get him, we'd need a better than Nazr (read younger) center who can actually play well (thinking 10+/7+ and able to get 1-2 assists consistently out of the post). This and a bag of chips and I'd consider it.

I'm not on board with any "quality for quantity" trades...esp. when the guy going out is an all star that wants to be here. That shouldn't be discounted so quickly.

so if crash went to denver, wouldn't we have to get at least one high first rounder. denver can't expect to get crash, multiple firsts and salary relief. what if we got favors, a first, billups or nene or murphy. let's say we can't shed diop. would crash + nazr + diaw = 1st, favors, billups or harris and nene or murphy?

If we dont get Melo for Gerald, I dont want to deal him.

How about Crash and Nazr for Harris, TWill and a random big?

Does that cover the loss of Crash? Remember, Jack and TWill are both able to play SG/SF and handle the ball.

Not for me. I think we give up a lot of defense going that route.

Sorry. My wife walked in while I was reading this, and she nixed this trade. Said this dancer is not good enough for you and you need to set your standards higher.

As far as they Nuggets dancers, they didn't have a lot to choose from. After the lady above, its a dramatic step down to dance team members like this:

If for some crazy reason we do decide to trade Wallace (stupidest idea ever), I would only be content if we get Derrick Favors, Devin Harris/Good center/solid player thats expiring or not guaranteed and some picks.

I honestly think trading GW is dumb id rather move other people mainly diop and diaw for a PG/C because it would be dumb to trade our best player for a unproven rookie in derrick favors imo

I'd be shocked if the team ever traded for Derrick Favors. On draft night I was talking with a member of the Front Office, and when Favors was picked, Kwame Brown came up...

Wow, really?

They've got absolutely nothing in common. I've always thought that Favors benefited a lot because Ganai did a lot of the dirty work in the post freeing him up. He's a real work in progress to say the least...

We will never trade GW... the reason being we overvalue him so much more than any other team in the NBA. He isn't just a player, he is our franchise.

And a random side note, we have a saying in England for footballers (soccer players) "No player is bigger than the club" In the NBA im afraid this is not the case, players have way to much power over their own clubs which causes anarchy... which we all love! :)

Whats all the hate on Favors? He was the youngest person drafted this year, if im correct he turned 19 on draft night. He just didnt come out of high school and entered the draft. If anybody seen the GT games, you can see that he played REALLY great. Even in the ACC tournament when he helped GT make its way to the tournament title game where they almost beat DUKE. I dont see Favors coming out this year and tearing up the league but in a couple years, I can really see him blossom as a star.

Sure he has the potential to be something really special, but he also has the potential to be a huge bust. Players as raw as he is are like that. I'm not saying he won't be good. He just has a high bust probability all over him

He played good in an incredibly weak ACC overall and it wasn't like he was down in the paint by himself either. Ganai helped GT a lot. Down the road its possible he turns into a great player, he certainly has all the tools to do so. At the same time, he's raw - and drafting an obvious project player with the #2 overall pick is a huge risk to say the least.

I didn't know Evan Turner was an obvious project...

Favors was taken #3, but your point is still valid. See Beasley, Michael; Thabeet, Hasheem; Oden, Greg.

Its also a very high reward and being with his age and skill level, I dont mind taking a gamble. Great players have to come from somewhere but dont get me wrong, Im not saying hes going to be a star . He just has the right skill set to do so. Being that he is unproven that is why I threw in a solid player and draft picks.

We can go back and forth on why he is or isnt a good pick up but in the end its a crap shoot. Nobody can say this person is going to be good or not but that doesnt mean we should not even consider a high draft pick in a trade.

but....

I said trading GW is a stupid idea in the first place but there was only one trade that is even possible that I would be content with. Just saying. :)
