Well, we don't have any 1st round picks available to trade so I'm not sure what we could have done here. Besides, DJ looks fine. I'm pretty comfortable with him for now.

It just says a future first rounder though. I've been a DJ guy since he got here, but I'm saying for a backup b/c at this point, I don't trust Livingston to be healthy and we need the depth/ability.

I'm certain we can upgrade the backup spot somewhere. Can someone tell me why we gave Livingston a 2 year 7 mil contract? I don't see how he didn't get a minimum to near minimum deal.

We need to just dump Diaw somewhere......addition by subtraction

I think the Front Office saw Livingston as the best PG option to sign during free agency, so they inked him to a 2-year deal.

I want to agree with this 100% but with all the shooters and ballers we have now maybe a facilitator won't hurt us so much....

I haven't seen tons of Bayless in the pros, but is he THAT much different from DJ? Sure, he drives more and has a little bit more scoring prowess, but I wouldn't set out to obtain him by himself--especially for a first-round pick. I just don't think it'd be a good move to trade away assets to get someone who would in many ways duplicate what we already have.

Portland obviously doesn't think that much of him...

We can't trade future Firsts since we don't know when the one we owe Chicago will be due.

Technically you can, but it wouldn't be smart to. You'd just have to word it as "two years following Chicago receiving the future first owed to them"

Ew no. Not worth it at all.

And wanting to draft Jerryd was the reason I joined BCP

Meh, Bayless is a very inconsistent player who doesn't know if he is a PG or SG yes he could have been useful here but as people have said we have barley have any 1st rounders, and if the first rounder is for this season then its an almost assured lottery pick!

Guys....if we still had the Hornets here, we would have CP3 and Bayless! lol

lol same here. Those Observer forums were atrocious. I started using them originally back in 03 or so for the Panthers, and I ended up at at carolinahuddle from there, and I've been there ever since.

I posted on the Bobcats there as well but the trolling is ridiculous so I googled 'bobcats fans' or something along those lines and got BP...

I honestly don't know when or why I joined other than the fact that I'm just about as rabid a fan as they come and we had some good fun doing play by play in the game forums during the ham biscuit days!

Dnbman recruited me from another site. I can't even remember which one. Come to think of it, it might have been the observer site also. Either way, I have been happy here for years (since July 2007) and am very happy I am onboard. I don't post as much as the rest of you but I am always around!

In a roundabout way, Houston Chronicle's Richard Justice led me here (Go Stros!)

As for Bayless, I was among those hoppin' mad on the draft chat that we passed on him in favor of DJ, but since we went in that direction, I don't see any real need for him here now. I was a hater of the Livingston signing (unfortunately, my instincts have proven right so far), but when healthy, I think I'd prefer him over Bayless. Either way, I agree he's not worth a first.

Larry Brown will start demanding some trades 20 games into the season. There's no way DJ will be the starting PG by game 21 or so.

So it pains you to see the Rangers and Giants instead of Yanks and Phils? Although I guess seeing Oswalt pitching to the Puma in the World Series would've been awkward.

So it pains you to see the Rangers and Giants instead of Yanks and Phils? Although I guess seeing Oswalt pitching to the Puma in the World Series would've been awkward. Both those guy did great things for us over the last decade, but it was definitely time for them to be on their way, so as to begin the reconstruction of the team and clear up massive salary. But no, I didn't care who who made it to the Series; I was pulling for them individually (like any ex-Astro that I liked and/or left under decent terms). Though, the Rangers routinely nail us in interleague, and the Giants have seemingly owned us over the last 10 or so years, but no, no enmity. The Cards or Cubs on the other hand....
