I'm going to start my own little educational series on mankinds lost history. I like history and i think what most people are taught isn't always what true. Some of the topics I will touch on in this thread will be ancient Egypt, Peru, Stonehedge, Aficans in America before Coloumbus, the Maya, Hopi Indians, Megalithic stone structures, Native Americans that write in Hebrew, African tribes that claim owner ship of the ark of the covenant, ancient Iraq and India and I'll start with Poverty Point in L.A.,USA. I'll hit alot of topic's, Even if no one replies I hope it's educational and entertaining.
First up...I'll start with something right here in America. Poverty Point ,Louisiana.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty_Point
This is a culture of so called native american mound builders. This site predates any known civilization in the USA. Ancient peoples in the americas have been building mounds for a very long time. In the area where i live down in either Lumberton or Pembroke, NC there are super old mounds stills repected today.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1582767108902360728#
People build these for religious reasons, protection from certain gods, as a marker of their culture, an earth bound marker to certain stars or constellations.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mound_builder_%28people%29
These mounds prove that native americans weren't some backwoods savages. In many ways they were more advanced then the european invaders. Why have you never heard of Poverty Point or any of the other ancient mounds and civilizations that built them.
Next Up....Egypt

Looking forward to reading what you present Professor Kat, especially your next installment on Egypt. I love discussion on the possibility ( or impossibility ) of whether the native people of Egypt could have really built the pyramids.
Professor kat, I like that Zig.
And kat, they haven't taught anyone because it would contradict the stories from Columbus, Cortez, et al. Can't have those "heroes" be wrong, can we? It's the whole winner writes the history books deal.

Awesome Kat. I'm a huge fan of history. More specifically Middle Ages key figures, Charlemagne, Ghenghis Khan, Nobunaga, Joan of Arc. Really was because of AOE2 that started it, also a massive history buff on Knights Templars.
Looking forward to your Egypt one, since I have played a lot of Pharaoh&Cleopatra in my time.

I've been trying to get my notes right for my Egypt presentation. But it's such a big topic I don't know where to start. So while I'm getting myself together here's some more stuff about North American lost history.

Just so you know Columbus didn't reach "America" till his third voyage. Most likely he landed in the Bahamas or in Cuba. No one is certain, What is certain is that the people living there were not godless savages. These people had a highly developed civilization. In Columbus' own journal translated by John Boyd Thacher, he states that the people in that area where known as the Khan. The Amaru were the leaders or kings of that group. Amaru-Khan....American.....This country was named after the people that already lived here.
This video is extra long and the guy is a little goofy but the artifacts in this presentation are real and documented. They so that ancient american people were a highly developed group of people who were killed, enslaved, and destroyed by the real godless savages

So you dispute the use of America on the Waldseemüller map being named after Amerigo Vespucci?

Right now i'm going to say I'm not sure. History is written by the winners....I agree.....But what about mistranslating or spellings? The bible is filled with mistranlations but we go right on believing that like its the word of god.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_%28word%29
In 1886, Jules Marcou (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jules_Marcou) said Vespucci renamed himself from Alberigo Vespucci (Albericus Vespucius) to Amerigo Vespucci after meeting the native inhabitants of the eponymous Amerrique (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amerrique) mountain ranges of Nicaragua[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)] that connect North America and South America, an important geographic feature of New World (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_World) maps and charts.
Or
Both these Italian navigators thought at first, as did Columbus, that they had found the direct way to the Indies, and each one earnestly declared himself to have been the first to discover the mainland. At any rate Vespucci could talk and write the best and he had many friends among the scholars of his day. When, therefore, it really dawned upon men that the land across the seas to which the genius of Columbus had led them was not India or “Cathay” but a new continent, then it was that the man who had the most to say about it obtained the greatest glory — that of giving it a name.
Wise men who have studied the matter deeply are greatly puzzled just how to decide whether the continent of America took its name from Amerigo Vespucci or whether Vespucci took his name from America. Those who hold to the first quote from a very old book that says, “a fourth part of the world, since Amerigo found it, we may call Amerigo or America;” those who incline to the other opinion claim that America came from an old Indian word Maraca-pan or Amarca, a South American country and tribe; Vespucci, they say, used this native word to designate the new land, and upon its adoption by map-makers deliberately changed his former name of Alberigo or Albericus Vespucci to Amerigo or Americus.

The first two I really liked. I grew up in Northern NY and we generally respected the Iroquois nations and the fact that they got screwed over by small pox and black powder.
Heck the Mohawks were a valid warrior threat until after the war of 1812!
Now that third one... the dude was scary crazy. Its like he took all the best crack pot theorys, melded them together with some hoxes and a few interesting true stories, and spit them back out as science. Seriously when someone cites the ever expanding earth theory I just walk away man... walk away.

Ancient Egypt....part I
I've been lazy
Egypt is such a big subject and there are so many things believed or taught today thats are just untrue. I plan on touching on pyramid construction, Pyramid age, Temple uses, Religion, Other temples, and so on. In the first section of Egypt part one I'm going to address religion.
If you've read any of my other threads you know I have zero religious belief. If you believe good for you try not to take anything I say as attacking you personally or your beliefs. ( Even if thats what I'm kinda doing). With that said....Christianity is a fake carbon copy of Egyptian and other creations myths.

It's commonly believed that Hebrew slaves were used to build the pyramids. The story of Moses "man of the people" demanding to have his people set free is crushingly inaccurate. Most of those stones weighted no less then 10 tons and heaviest might be around 100 tons. It would have taken a work force in the millions. You need workers, workers families, cooks, doctors for injuries or sickness, stone cutters, stone movers, stone movers back ups on & on. U need people to get supplies. Building these pyramids was the biggest construction project in human history. You can't force that many slaves to work that long and that hard with just swords and spears. History shows slaves revolt on their own. They didn't need Moses or his magic staff thats turns into a snake. Thank Charlton Heston for that nonsense
There is no egyptian account of a slave revolt. Nothing about keeping that number of slaves, nothing about Moses or the parting of the sea with killed a large part of the Pharaohs perusing army. Thats a big thing....HUGE...losing your entire work force & part of your army. And not one hieroglyph about it. Not even one hieroglyph about the construction of the pyramids or sphinx. Not one!! biggest thing man has ever done and nothing is written about how they did it? Thats because they are way older then the known egyptian culture

Another thing I HATE is when Egyptians are depicted on TV or in books they are always shown as light skinned maybe middle eastern looking. Seriously? Egypt is in africa. Those pyramids are atleast 10,000 yrs old. The people residing in that area at that time period were dark skinned. Plan and simple. It's seems evil to try and pretend otherwise. Not to turn this into a race war but whites just couldn't live with the idea black savage bone nosed spear chucking people could build something so masterful. I saw on the discovery channel and they did a DNA test on King Tut's remains. Supposely the samples came back to show Tut was from European origin. Really? There was no europe in Tut's time. There wasn't even a european culture. The oldest known is the greek civilization. I may be wrong, But if theres was it was nothing close to the level of what anicent africans were doing.
My problem is why lie? It's like having a remake of the classic Scarface. But you have blond hair, blue eyed man playing Tony Montana. Some people say well what difference does it make if they were black. It's history, If your going to tell it tell it right.

There was definitely a Europe during Tut's time, thought not like one we imagine now. Neanderthal left Africa 350,000 years ago. Various species resulted from that evolution. What they might mean is that Tut's dna stems from a line that was in Europe at one point, which may have looked nothing like what we think of as white Europeans today. I don't think anyone imagines Tut as European looking, other than early Hollywood films. Hollywood has tended to make every foreign culture of influence essentially British and used white actors, making the images seem European. However, I don't think you'd find too many people who think King Tut was European looking.

Ok...what I should have said was there wasn't an european culture around when I think that the pyramids were built. I know there was a culture during Tut's time thats were we get the Atlantis myth. But what country lets an outsider especially one that didn't invade become king? Other then the USA....
http://www.activemind.com/Mysterious/Topics/Atlantis/timaeus_and_critias.html
Plato got the myth from Solon who heard it from Egyptian priests

Only problem I have with this is comparing modern man to neanderthals is like comparing chimps to gorillas. They are the same but they're not in basic terms. If as you say Neanderthals left africa around 350,000 yrs ago and modern man showed up 250-200,000 its amazing impossible to change that drastically in that short of time. Your changing a gorilla into a chimp in 100,000 or so yrs. Other then that I agree about hollywood. But I think if people see a certain depiction thats what they think of when you say egyptian culture. Thats what they see thats what their mind will recall.

From the little I read, it sounds like a bunch of hunter/gatherer cultures converged on the Nile over a long period of time, as it was incredibly rich with resources. So, it's quite likely that dark and light skinned peoples mingled there to produce a medium skinned culture that we still see there today.

Africans come in all shades and colors. Its ranges from shadow scare u in the dark black to high yellow, Even some albinos. I'm sure there were "lightskinned" and dark skinned groups just like there are in africa now. But....When I say light skinned I should say pale. Even arabs are brown, some pale but mostly brownish.
From left to right: a Lybian, a Nubian, a Syrian and an Egyptian.

In my quick search I couldn't find the actual hieroglyph and what pyramid its in. But this is how the Egyptians viewed the different races. The nubians are the southern nile egyptians. I forgot the name of the king that united the two kingdoms. Syrians are arabs I think, Lybians are Jews. I'll look it up later to make sure.
But either way the egyptians color themselves reddish brown. Same shades as Native Americans But thats for a later topic

Egypt part 2....Construction
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o179/bucktown1999/man.jpg
The Great Pyramid alone has 2.3 million stones. Weighting in ranges from 2 ton blocks to 70 plus ton stones on the inside. In the kings grand chamber there are eight 70 -100 ton stones. During construction they would have had to raise those stones up 125 feet.
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o179/bucktown1999/egypt-pyramid-construction.jpg
Now check my facts but far as I know they didn't have the wheel or the pulley system at that point in history.
The greek historian Herodotus was told that it took 100,000 men 20 years to build the Great Pyramid at Giza. Scholars today, however, think it may have been built by only 20,000 men over 20 years. You would have to cut, move and place one block every hour , 24 hours a day and then perfectly place 2.3 million blocks weighting tons in 20 years.

Is there any info/speculation on whether this calendar corresponded to the year, or some astronomical cycle?
Theres not alot of info on the site but from what I've read it's not an astronomical marker like the Sphinx. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altair But I did read that at one site the stones lined up with the Altair star system. In eygptian mytholgy the vulture or eagle was a way to "heaven" . These stones are made of dolerite. One if not the hardest known stone. God only knows how cavemen quarried and moved these stones over a mile to where they now rest. Then aligned them with the sun rise in a 360 degree circle. It is estimated that there are over 20,000 ancient stone ruins scattered throughout the mountains of southern Africa. Modern historians pay them little attention since in their minds Africans couldn't have been doing anything important during that time period. But as usual I disagree.
This site is located at the bottom tip of africa.
The complex that links Waterval Boven, Machadodorp, Carolina and Dullstroom, covers around 5,000 square kilometres, which is a larger area then modern-day Johannesburg.
There are many myths in Africa about people mining for gold in ancient times and that includes the bibical Solomon mines. The Sumerians ( Iraq ) have a creation myth that says Aliens made humans as a slave to mine gold. Gold was mined and melted in ancient times in Southern Africa, hundreds or thousands of pounds have been removed with no real idea of where it all went. Artifacts made of gold were excavated from sites such as Mapungubwe (now a world heritage site in the Limpopo Province), Klipwal (near Piet Retief) and Thulamala in the northern part of the Kruger National Park.
This site really needs more open minded research. It's clear someone was mining for gold in pre history. It's clear this site once had a population of maybe a million people. Historains say that only nomads living in that area at that time. Then who built the the stone structures and who dug up all that gold?
As a side note I've always wonderd why people throghout history have found Gold so attractive. Something they kill for and die to keep. What made us believe this shiny rock was that important

I did find this link to Horus and Orions belt. http://thecrit.com/2009/01/22/discovering-the-oldest-man-made-structures-on-earth/
The Orion Connection & The Hawk Head of Horus
This remarkable stone structure of Adam’s Calendar was originally a large circular structure resembling but predating Stonehenge by many thousands of years. Its original shape is still clearly visible from satellite images. Adam’s Calendar is built along the same 31 degree longitudinal line as Great Zimbabwe and the Great Pyramid of Giza. Three of the monoliths are aligned with the rise of Orion’s belt when it rose horizontally on the horizon some 75,000 years ago. A recent observation is that the fallen monolith on the outer circle that marks the vernal equinox sunrise is shaped like the Horus hawk head from Egypt and the resembles the Zimbabwe ruins birds. This is the oldest statue of the Horus hawk by a long shot and should attract great interest in the years to come. Adam’s Calendar takes us further back in time closer to the emergence of Homo sapiens, than any other structure ever found to date, and it will force historians and archaeologist to reconsider ancient human activity and consciousness."
Maybe I was wrong about it not being a marker.
