Does anyone know of an easy way to fix this

Its a terrible photograph, but this is a pic of my car door panel. The latch indicated by the very high tech yellow arrow is stuck in that closed position, so when I try to close the door it just bangs against the little metal bar that it supposed to latch onto because its stuck in closed.

Any easy ways to fix this?

Have you taken the pannel off to check if anythings stuck? I had to replace the actuator in my cars door a while back.

I haven't taken the panel off yet, I think that'll be my project for tomorrow morning

WD-40 and if you end up taking the panel off (because it's sticking behind the panel and not at the door jam)...more WD-40 and some duct tape (duct tape because no repair job is complete without using duct tape).
