read this chat. admittedly, he watches and covers much more nba basketball over a much longer time than i have, but i had issues with many of his answers. he is clearly riding the espn company line for the heat. in his defense, he uses equations/formulas for his rankings so they aren't opinions. but his defense of the formulas with his opinions show his heat love. there were also some questionable responses to other questions as well.

I think he's a moron. I would agree he covers more basketball, but I don't think he actually watches the entirety of many games or 10 consecutive possessions for that matter. He looks at his stats, then has someone on the ESPN staff find a 10 second clip to support his statistics.

He did have two telling comments:

He sounds so prophetic suggesting a match-up problem with Boston (who is 2-0 vs Miami this season). But the description is exactly what the Cats offer.

I do worry about how they match up against Boston in particular, however. Cs have multiple wing defenders, a PG Miami can't guard, and are probably the strongest help defending team -- all the ingredients you need to compete with Miami.

Then he rips Felton a bit at the end:

One reason I liked New York to sneak into the playoffs was that I thought Anthony Randolph could really help them. So far he's given them nothing. The rest of the team? Meh.... Felton is about what I expected in D'Antoni's system, he's average at best in S-R. And while Mozgov might eventually be useful, right now he's not. So I can't say Donnie's marks are real high just yet. But let's try not to overreact to a dozen games.

Your rankings lose all credibility when they have Miami ahead of Boston, when Boston has a better record and thoroughly beat them in both matchups.

It felt like "thoroughly" to those who watched, but the scoreboard said "barely".

loved how he summed up everyone's problem with his whole system/philosophy as an answer to the question.

Should we be questioning the training staff in Portland after this? Seems to be an awful lot of knee injuries in a relatively short period of time.

Wasn't aware there was a manual out on preventing knee ligaments from tearing. If they were missing diagnoses or having re-injuries to the same spot I'd be worried. What happened to Roy, Oden, etc., unfortunately, still looks like flat-out bad luck.

as an professional exercise guy, i take special offense to this one. you can absolutely train someone in a manner that is conducive to promoting injury

Chef, take it easy on Hollinger. He's still watching the games on his mother's 12 inch B&W tv in the basement...how should he know what the games are like?
