From Bonnell's blog today: http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_nba/2010/12/thomas-highly-doubtful-against-pacers.html I didn't include the part about TTime most likely missing the game Friday night :facepalm:

Also Thursday, the Bobcats decided to send rookie Sherron Collins for a stint with the Development League Maine Red Claws.

Collins, the team’s third point guard, has played briefly in two of the Bobcats’ last five games. Brown said this is a chance for Collins to play a lot and improve his game-conditioning.

Collins said he welcomed the chance to get in more run.

In Collins’ absence, Boris Diaw or Stephen Jackson would be the emergency third point guard, behind D.J. Augustin and Shaun Livingston.

Brown indicated it’s possible other Bobcats might also do a D-League assignment. Brown didn’t mention any names but the only two players seemingly young enough for that to make any sense would be second-year pros Gerald Henderson and Derrick Brown.

I think it's a great move for Collins, and I wonder if it would help the confidence of Hendo and UPS (not that either of those two were specifically mentioned). I for one, was pleasantly surprised with Hendo and UPS in the Summer League (which is about the equivilant to the D League during the season). With the reduced travel budget for the Maine Red Claws, maybe all 3 come back even hungrier (for bball minutes Sherron).

Thoughts?

Sherron should've never played an NBA game. He's simply not ready.

Judging by how dumb Larry Brown is looking right now (McGuire over UPS, Shawne Williams getting quality minutes in New York, DJ not sucking), I'd say that its possible that we really missed out on Crittenton.

Probably where Collins needed to be all along, and without a guaranteed NBA contract.

Hendo declined to go last year and I doubt his opinion has changed. Thing is, if he could get healthy he'd be getting some burn...unless a lot of u guys are right and LB just loves Lord Dom.

With Tyrus out UPS will probably get some PT vs. Indiana. Hope he makes the most of it.

With Larry Brown ejected Dave Hanners will probably get some PT vs. someone, hopefully. Hope he makes the most of it.

Fixed it for you.

I can understand UPS not playing over Dom if we need defense, but he's worth more than a DNP-CD

They must have told him that the "D" in D-League stands for Donuts.

LB usually ends up with a 8-10 man rotation and he used 9 vs. the Nuggets. With the versatility of our main guys (Jax, Crash, Boris) at the forward spots, the probable need for bigs (Nene), Tyrus obviously deserving minutes and our lack of depth at SG...which is probably why Carroll got to suit up...who else would you DNP-CD?

Hendo will get minutes, LB said that he is a priority this year for development. Also right now we are filling the back up sg with people whos it isnt their first position. On the other hand UPS might go...

From here on out, using a ten man rotation, I'd run it like this: Gana and Eddie/Matt inactive (depends on the matchup, if they're wing loaded Matt dresses, if they're big then Eddie dresses). Assuming a regulaton 240 minutes, Boris, Jack and Crash get about 35-40 minutes each, DJ gets 30-35, and Nazr gets 15-25 based on matchups. That leaves around 75 bench minutes. Tyrus gets 20-30 (depending on Naz), Liv gets about 20, Kwame gets about 10, Dom gets about 15, and then I'd play Derrick or Hendo, depending on matchup, the remaining 10.

But that's just me.

I think DJ is going to change his number and give 14 to Dom....rather Dom's number needs to be ONE FOUR, like his shooting is always one for _____.......1-7, 1-8, 1-9 :facepalm::facepalm:

Good move with shifting Collins. Wont' get burn on our rotation and not good enough for the NBA.

I have a feeling it'll be UPS. LB in love in Lord Dom, and he'll take what minutes UPS normally gets. Hendo has been getting burn at the 2, but has also been producing from there so I would say that Hendo would still get burn, although not as much as Lord Dom.

That sucks...Lord Dom is horrible.

Does sending Collins to the D-League leave an extra spot on our roster open? Or does it just clear the way for someone to return from injury?

No extra roster spot, only allows for one less suit to be at the end of the bench

Would love to cut DOM and sign Flip . Flip is the missing piece thet could take us over the top . He can play the one and two and he has that attitude on the floor . Something this team is missing,.

I totally agree. Only thing I can think of in that regard is LB probably wanted either him or Hughes but MJ told him to develop Hendo instead.

I think if Flip was re-signed, DJ would be affected most. Remember how Flip's attitude (which meshed well with Crash, Jack and most guys) took away DJ's confidence? Plus, Larry would play Flip at the one more, and there would be no ball movement whatsoever. Less than none, since we're at none right now.

I've never got that. How can you let a freaking LLE journeyman rock you that badly?

Where did that come from anyway? Bonnell?

Best way for all this to be moot is if DJ brings more aggression and confidence. As you said that's what Crash and Jax need, and we're not going anywhere unless they're playing to the best of their abilities. Besides, we desperately need a 3rd go to option 4th qtr/late in the game.

Besides, we desperately need a 3rd go to option 4th qtr/late in the game.I think DJ was rattled by the fact that a guy who's rep was no more than 'streaky, undersized SG' was taking all of his minutes after DJ had played so well in his rookie year.

Flip had never played the position seriously in his entire career - but all of a sudden he's magically better than a guy who'd arguably outplayed Felton in his rookie season. Yeah, I'd be a confused too... seeing Acie Law get the rest of my minutes would send me over the edge too.

I'm wondering where this actually came from though? Maybe it's total BS?

If what you're thinking is right DY then it wasn't that DJ was intimidated by Flip, just confused on why he was behind him in the rotation.

Which I'm more inclined to believe. AND if that's the case then it shouldn't affect DJ one way or the other if we brought him back. Yeah he might cut into a few of DJ's minutes, but I've the strong feeling the FO wouldn't let it be too much.

I think it's all MJ tightening the reins on LB and forcing him to develop what we have.

While Bonnell had a day off with his home foot jacuzzi and a cheap hooker his colleague Ron Green Junior actually got some interesting info. (The reason im so hard on Bonnell is because he accused me of stealing his piece about DJ for my fan blogg according to Matt Rochinski, i only put him to shame when i sent him an email which showed my article was up first, what did i fly over to the USA and steal his notes? No!!!) anyway rant over and done with, it looks like Hendo may be off to the Maine red Claws this week to get his game conditioning back.

Here is the link to the Naked Mole Rat's article: http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_nba/2010/12/henderson-might-do-a-d-league-stint.html

Bonnell's a douche. He was a douche to Swedd in our interview with him for the podcast, that's why it never went up.

I don't want to disclose too much, but he basically implied Swedd was an idiot and was wrong. And needed to get his stuff together. And he wasn't exactly peachy to me, either.

I posed a question something along the lines of: "With all indications pointing that LB seemingly wanted out during the summer, do you think his staying will have some sort of negative impact this year?"

And he responded something along the lines of: "You're wrong, there weren't ever any indications of that, I don't know where you're getting that from, word your questions better, I hate you, I hope you fall off a bike and scrape your knee."

And whaddya know, we've had ALL SORTS OF PROBLEMS WITH LARRY COMING BACK!

Henderson needs more confidence. I don't think sending him to the D League will build that. Larry just needs to play him and let Stephen rest more. That way Stephen will feel less pressure to carry the team and might start being a team player.

Its clear that Ricky B has some serious man-love for Larry Brown. I bet any sort of negative question towards LB would make him start squirting tears.

he always writes about how LB is so wonderful to write about and how interesing he is and what great quotes he comes up with. Can someone create a Rick hearts LB image?

Back to Tank!

He's averaging a THUNDEROUS 10 points (56th among all guards) and 1.5 assists (74th among all guards) per game. I'd say we have a keeper on our hands!

In other news, Terrence Williams' stint in the DLeague saw him AVERAGE a triple double. 28 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists. Kyle Weaver? 18 points, 6 boards, 4 assists.

There has to be talent (and drive) there first in order to develop it. Tho I do agree we seem to suck developing players I wouldn't consider Collins proof of that.
