The Charlotte Bobcats have struggled out of the gates this year, currently possessing an 8-15 record overall. They're on the outside looking in of the playoff picture and looking to make some moves to improve their roster, but Stephen Jackson isn't letting the team's issues get him frustrated. Further exhibiting his growth as a teammate and player, Jackson is continuing to set a model example for how a captain should act in Charlotte.
"It's exciting for a lot of reasons," said Jackson of being a Bobcat despite their slow start on 1070 The Fan (http://sportsradiointerviews.com/2010/12/13/stephen-jackson-staying-calm-and-collected-in-charlotte/). "I'm with a team that is a play or a player away from becoming a consistent playoff team. I'm playing for one of the best players to ever play the game and playing for one of the best coaches ever. So, I'm having fun. It's 11 years for me now, so I'm just enjoying the game. Stephen Jackson Staying Calm and Collected in Charlotte - 1070 The Fan (http://sportsradiointerviews.com/2010/12/13/stephen-jackson-staying-calm-and-collected-in-charlotte/)
Jackson joined 1070 The Fan in Indianapolis to talk about how he would summarize his time in Charlotte, his role as a leader of the Bobcats, what his relationship with Michael Jordan is like, what his personal and team goals are for the rest of the season, when he thought he turned a corner with his personal maturation, and what he thinks the Bobcats need to most improve upon for the remainder of this season.~more at both links~
debbie downer, mr. cynical man here, it almost seems like he is reading the press on why his trade value is so low and playing nice so a contender like the bulls takes him on.
Easy to stay positive when you've got tens of millions coming your way, no matter your performance...

^^ Damn straight, sounds very suspect.
"hey we suck but that's alright, we got a HOF player running tings".

We really don't suck. Well some players suck, but we've got a solid 6 + very developable Derrick Brown and Gerald Henderson. I think with more fan support Captain Jack and GW could get motivated again. But he's right, our defense could improve.

Wow, the guy just can't win. When he shows his frustration and "tells it like it is" he gets slammed for having a bad attitude. When he shows a more mature side and takes the PC approach as he does in the quotes above, it's BS and he's got ulterior motives. And that's from his own fanbase. I'm convinced some people are so biased against Jack that there's absolutely nothing he can do that would be acceptable.

I love Jack. And I've only ever been upset with his words once, and that was critizing DJ. I like honesty, and I like him showing frustration. I don't like him lying, but worse than that I don't like him slamming someone who isn't the problem. He's a captain, which makes it his right to be critical, so long as he's fair.

I have a much bigger problem with "The Artist formerly known as Crash" than I do with Jax.

Same here Ziggy. Do you know what has been up with him this year? His shot selection has become grossly predictable. He isn't hustling like he did most of last season, but we all saw that die in the playoffs. He's still a phenomenal player but he looks as if he's disinterested in the game.

hes the best player on our team, and is also showing maturity and people still doubt him. WTF does the guy have to do? And what he said about DJ was the honest truth. DJ is not as tough as Raymond, yes hes a better shooter, but hes not as tough leader or defender.

I could've sworn Jackson was the captain not DJ.
But I guess its okay for the team leader to call out guys who aren't leaders for not being leaders.... that makes sense, right?
And DJ has regressed since his rookie year. I hate Larry Brown.
I'm glad he's staying positive, the worst thing a player can do is let the frustrations get the best of him. While some of you may read into this as bullsh*t, I see a call to MJ that goes something like, "Hey man, bring in a big time player and we're going to make the playoffs. Pull some weight."

Well he had two of the leaders call him out, so obviously he needs to step up. And DJ has to be a floor leader, regardless who the captains are, hes a pg and runs the offense. DJ did look much better tonight and I think he'll continue to improve and be more consistent as the season goes on. He did regress last season, but I've seen some positives in his game this year, just has to be tougher on defense.

i was being 95% facetious. i enjoy watching jax when he isn't trying to force things or being a cry baby. i really like watching him when we are running our offense (not standing around chucking up crap). the down screens and curls from the block are fun to watch to see if he stays and posts, curls for the little jumper or flexes for the deep jumper. and when he wants to, he plays damn good d.
but, if chicago or orlando did come calling i would deal him to rebuild. his salary is going to be tough to swallow in a year or two when the inevitable decline begins.

when he's good, he's good.... but when he's not, he doesn't just disappear, he hurts the team across the board

I feel like the T last night was totally unwarranted. Granted he may have said a magic word or two, hard to say without being there, but he wasn't demonstrative at all. That one just seemed like it was a ref who didn't like Jack and was looking for any opportunity to T him up.
It's starting to become rather obvious that there is a distinct double-standard where he is concerned. Last night he got tripped and thrown to the floor without even so much as a foul being called, and then got T'd up for what appeared to be an extremely mild reaction to a foul, before ultimately fouling out himself. He's made his bed and he's now having to lie in it, but at some point this has got to stop. He's been a different guy since the suspension so the refs need to lay off.

+103K for being suspended a game +50k for earlier fine complaining to officials after a game
so that would be $169K so far this year
