I know this isn't "technically" Bobcats related, but this is the only forum that gets real attention and it's Charlotte related. I've been pondering this as a former die hard hornets fan of the 90s and I don't think this discussion has been brought up on the forums. Does anyone else see the correlation between the OKC Thunder and how the Hornets were built and came together in the mid-90s?

- They built through the draft like the Hornets did (Alonzo and LJ essentially could be equal to Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook)
- The city of OKC took that team under their wing with extensive arena renovations and a die hard fanbase in a short period of time just like Charlotte adored its Hornets
- They have created a star in Kevin Durant just like Charlotte did with Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson

Does this bring a tear to anyone else's eye? I mean I wish I could find a Hornets introduction on YouTube but tell me this doesn't compare to what the Hive was like in the Hornet's prime? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUq0A7RDveg&feature=related

I guess in this time of discontent and anger, I kinda hoped this thread can shine some happiness and memories on the old Charlotte faithful because the correlation is exact, and team still can build the right way as the Hornets did for that short period of time.

Their front office is really smart. They've made some solid draft choices and they've got a very young team. I still think that they need a legitimate center and shooter though. They'd be smart to let Green walk and sign a veteran that can bang in the post.

Yea it reminds me of the Hornets. But Im happy with the Bobcats franchise and hope we continue to grow because the Playoff's last year was great, lots of fun.

happy with the Bobcats franchise?

that video is everything the Bobcats arent. We dont have a team we have a bunch of over paid scrubs, who complain about calls rather than out working the other team. Make the playoffs as a garbage seed, and all of a sudden the team acts like they dont have to play anymore. Fire everyone.

Excellent comparison! Couldn't agree more.
