Thought I'd give this it's own thread instead of in with the Silas as coach thread. Our friends at RealGM via Marc Steain have let us know that should the Blazers not extend McMillan, the Bobcats would be highly interested.

Not a bad idea at all, I believe. Of course time will tell who's available but I'd be happy with McMillan as the permanent coach.

We could do a WHOLE lot worse IMO.

I'm not against it. I'll wait to see what Silas and crew can do 1st

Exactly.
I like Nate just fine but I would like to see what the Silas crew can do with the guys before I start thinking about a replacement.

I could see it happening. MJ has been known to be partial to ACC guys and I would think the interest would be mutual on McMillan's part. Having a chance to come home and coach the Bobcats would likely appeal to him at some level. He's a seasoned, veteran coach who's had some success turning teams around that were previously in disarray. I wouldn't be mad at all if he ended up being the guy.

He's a great coach but his style is too similar to Larry's for my taste. I'm ready to move on from the slow, deliberate offense and so is our team.
He is a good coach but lets see what Silas does with the team first.

As said before, the guy's a good coach but he runs such a sloowwww offense that our roster clearly doesn't benefit from and quite frankly I'm tired of watching it night in and night out.

I'd be happy with him. And also there was a tweet from Wojo over the Holidays which mentioned Ty Corbin as a name to watch for Charlotte in the long run. Said he is turning a lot of heads right now. Will have to see what MJ wants.

IMO, it would be a great hire
Nate McMillan has never really had a team that underachieved (in Seattle or Portland).......and the players seem to like him even though he is known as a disciplinarian
just a solid coach

I don't know enough about McMillan as a coach, but if he's a disciplinarian that runs a "ho-hum" offense, count me out. I'd rather run a more upbeat offense and have a coach that is neither a drill sargeant, nor a players' coach that nobody respects. I am intrigued to see what Silas brings and think if he lives up to what he has said thus far, he might be our guy to extend for a couple of years. I like who he has brought with him and think he will be comfortable in Charlotte. We shall see..... either way, between trades and coaching movement, we have not been a dull team in 2010.

I think he would be interested given the Trailblazers aren't going to extend him coupled with his ties to NC State and the fat that he's from North Carolina.
He's the perfect coach if we want to just want to go young and try to get high draft picks. However, he's not a good X and Os coach but he's a good leader.

.......just keep SILAS!

Nate would be a very good fit here, we'd be lucky to have him. Silas is 67 years old and in no way the long term answer.
Paul Silas through whenever we relinquish the Chicago pick. Stephen Silas after.
But if that's not possible, Nate would be ok. not great, but ok.

Rather have Stephen Silas as the successor, we need a coach that has potential and grows with a team, and goes with the uptempo, don't want any coaches like larry brown for a long long time.

I myself would like to see what Silas and his coaching staff can do before entertaining the idea of another head coach and staff. That said if Silas does not improve the team immeasurably I am all for Nate McMillan. Just look at the job he has done in recent years with a Portland team bit by the injury bug. Some of you on here had him as a top 3 finalist for coach of the year last year and I must say that I can not argue with you on that one. So to sum it all up I could definitely see Nate as the head coach of our Bobcats.
