He was sick at Tennessee, killed his draft stock. Glad to see he's doing well.

never heard of this guy. I'm not impressed with 30+ points in a D-league game though. Many scrubs did it before and sucked big time when they played a NBA game. Plus, this guy looks like a combo guard, and I don't want anyone to steal minutes from Henderson.

But the guy commentating was fun to listen to. Think he used about every saying there is in basketball lingo in that segment alone.

I particularly like calling that one dunk an "Earth-shaker." Occasionally, hyperbole is quite fun and my man on the mic here made it one of those occasions.
if he can shoot the 3 ball like he did at Tenn then we need him badly. taking time from hendo or not.

Breakout "night" but only averaging 14ppg in +30mins, in the D-League. I am not impress.
This guy seems to be a one trick dog (3 point specialist), scoring over 50% of his point behind the arch. I don't believe he would be able to get away with this in the NBA. The D is more intense. Plus the the guy is a 6'2 SG, he would be a major liability on D.

1 game...ok... My question is: does he put up good points consistently? If he DOES play well consistently, why isn't he in the NBA? NBA teams tend to be more educated on players than forum-dwellers... What is it about him that seems like a turn-off? Is he D ok? Does he hog the ball? Is he missing his right leg? But first and foremost: Is he consistent and if so, how do his averages compare to other top d-league players?

Thats the info we needed to know, thanks for that. I agree with g-force on this one.

he had 30 two games ago. there is a reason he is in the d-league. you are right, nba teams are not missing any hidden d-league gems, if ever such a thing existed.

He is pretty much a total 3pt specialist. He is so unalethetic Divison 1A teams barley looked at him. During his college career he became the 3rd all time leader in 3pt shots made in NCAA history. He is great at shooting fade away threes with a hand in his face and has unlimited range.
He also became 3rd all time in steals at Tennessee despite his physical limitations because he is scrappy and has a nose for the ball. His Junior year he was by far the best player on a Tennessee team that beat eventual national champion Florida Gators twice.
The only reason he never got a shot at the NBA was right before his senior year he got testicular cancer and had to go through chemo and radiation right before the season started. His scoring average dropped from 20 to 15 and he went from likely late first round selection to undrafted.
He played in turkey his first year out of school and was league MVP. Last year he played in Spain and lit it up over there. He could be making a lot more money overseas right now but he wants to make it into the league.
44 points is a sick game even in the D league. 8 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals is nice also. 7-9 from three point range is impressive even if nobody is guarding you.
I see him more as a replacement for Carroll. MC is averaging under 30% from downtown on the season. More importantly I don't have much faith in his ability to be clutch or to be comfotable looking for his own shot over and over. I know MC isn't going to suddenly put up 30 or 40, but I promise you Lofton would and will. It is just a question of which team picks him up.

D-League stars from past.... look em up then look at them now. That is all.All I have to say to that is if there are no players in the D-League worth having why have the D-League?
The other thing I have to add is that taking a "chance" on a D-League player is really not going to set any team back that far. For one D-League players only sign 10 day contracts to start. If they get past a couple of those then you may have yourselves a contributor to your team. I am not a big fan of the D-League but I also don't see the real risk in signing a few of them during the season. Especially when you are trying to shore up a few weaknesses and there are not many if any other options that are better for you. I see no reason our Bobcats should not go the D-League rout. Trades usually are set up in a way where teams who seem desperate for a fix get screwed by teams seeking to rid their garbage on those teams. All the while getting some value in return. I say we sign a few players to 10 day contracts and see what is out there. There is not a whole left other than that option. The big question for all of you on the opposite end of the D-League debate is what would it hurt?

Despite his shortcomings, I don't know if acquiring would be such a bad idea, we need to keep an eye on this guy :g:

Will be playing on NBA TV tomorrow at 2:45 in the D league showcase. Good afternoon TV if you get snowed in.
Also Lofton leads the D League with 2.9 made threes per game while shooting 45%. Dorrell Wright leads the NBA with 2.6 but is shooting just under 41%. Kevin Martin is at 2.2 and 42%. Ray Allen is 2.1 and 45%. Stephen Jackson is 2.0 and 37%. Steph Curry is 1.8 and 44%. DJ is 1.6 and 39% and Silas calls him a great shooter.
Why am I not surprised you want us to keep an eye on a guy?
GoBobs, I understand why you want him, but until Matt has his legs back under him and we're able to judge what we have, I don't think we want to add another three point specialist unless its at a forward position.

Rather have him then Matt Carroll. Matt can't hit a shot, but atleast he's active while on the court

Consistency is the key word here... Ex: JRich was alot more consistent at hitting his shots than Matt Carroll ever will be, but we paid alot more money to him.. We need someone "alot more consistent at hitting his shots" but at a good price..

Looks like Lofton will be playing the rest of the season over in Turkey. The team over there that had AI is like the NY Yankees of the Turkish league in terms of payroll. They signed Lofton to replace AI as there main scorer for the rest of the season. He is getting the NBA league min (about 500k) to finish the season over there. Today will be his last game in the D league.

If we are going to be looking for D-League players, I would love to take a shot on Jeff Adrien.

Breakout "night" but only averaging 14ppg in +30mins, in the D-League. I am not impress.
Just to update some stats: up to 16.2 ppg .479 fg%, .444 3pt%, .62 true shooting% also 4th in the D league in total steals and first in Steals/Turnover
Last three games he scored 17, 19, and 31. Next game is Friday and all are free to watch on D league futurecast if you want to take a look at him.
