i copied this over from the game thread because it does have alot of general nba/conversation stuff in it. and it took so long to type, i want to make sure it gets a fair shot at being read, the game pages don't get much traffic since the in-game chats are such a better way to talk about the games.
my thoughts from my annual live attendance game:
1. we were sitting section 114 center court about 15 rows up, these guys are absolutely huge and everyone is physical as hell. it is no wonder they get hurt so much and have to pace so well during an 82 game season
2. my wife (only follows basketball to humor me the same way i follow dancing with the stars, can't match names to faces) said of diaw by the second quarter "that guy doesn't really look like an athlete like the rest of the players. he stands like a dufus and looks like he could care less there is a game going on"
3. the refs really did a good job taking us out of the game at the end. so did tyrus.
4. chris paul will absolutely not be a hornet after free agency. he doesn't even really like his team, he tolerates them. he was especially critical of west starting in the very first part of the first quarter when he west messed up two or three defensive rotations and wasn't setting the pick where paul wanted it on offense.
5. paul is michael jordan competitive. he is not a nice guy on the court and if open trash talking were legal he would be one of the worst.
6. paul is crazy good. he completely managed the entire game and ended with only 19 and 4. he can get to any spot he wants on the floor and do what he wants getting there. he did nothing spectacular but controlled the game all game, people that know basketball saw it, those that don't probably left disappointed. and he did it on 1 and a half knees.
7. our defensive rotations are bad. dj didn't do a bad job on paul especially during the high screen situations dominating their offense. whoever was guarding west showed to prevent paul from driving, but we have to know that west is going to pop or shallow role to the elbow for the jumper. he was open all game. the rotation has to come from the off guard and force ariza to make three's. that is on jax and crash.
8. henderson is still hurt. he was noticeably limping and fooling with his knee brace.
9. kwame and dj have the absolutely value in a production vs pay ratio on this team. i would not trade either unless the deal was excellent.
10. mj, crash, jax and paul are pretty good friends. pre-game and post game hugs and conversation between the players and paul went out of his way to go talk to jordan after the game. if we are in a good situation financially and player-wise and new york is rolling with felton there is slightly less than impossible chance he could come here.
11. paul would be absolutely devastating on the P&R with amare and gallo camped at the line, and if you add melo to that team forget about it. although i am in the air about melo to the knicks if they can land paul and good defensive center.
question: did the tv guys explain why silas's rotations were so strange down the stretch. we should have been going with the starters especially dj and kwame instead of shaun and tyrus.
