Hello all,
I'm quite interested to know if soccer is popular for you, bobcats fans. Maybe the USA nice presence in the World Cup has made some of you curious about this sport?
Personnally, I'm a big fan of Olympique de Marseille, as Desagana Diop (!! I learned that in this article on nba.com : http://www.nba.com/2010/news/game.recap/11/03/bobcats.nets/index.html in "INSIDE THE ARENA" part) and I would like to know if you heard something about this team ^^, but it's not really the most popular european team (Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester Utd, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Milan AC, Juventus, ..) but surely the most popular french team.
If you have any opinion about that, I would be very intrested to know it!

About five or so years ago, I decided that it'd be a good idea to pick a favorite team/player. I didn't know much about international soccer at the time so I picked Barca after watching some YouTube footage of Ronaldinho. After he left I decided to pick a new favorite player so I did some more research and decided that Zlatan Ibrahimovic was one of the greatest players in the world even though nobody was talking about him.
I was excited as hell when he signed with Barca last year and had a ton of fun watching them dominate. Unfortunately, he left due to some personal reasons but That's cool. Xavi and Iniesta are fantastic and creative as he'll. Villa is an adequate replacement for Zlatan, and Messi is Messi.

Great! For most of observators, Barca is the best team in the world, and maybe the best team in the soccer history. The most impressive is that most of their best players (Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Puyol) are formed in the club! It's really rare... Ok I'm not a big fan of Barcelona, but I always like watching some Barca games, because it's so spectacular.. great technic and speed.
This year they continue to explose everything ^^ it could be a 5-0 average results ^^
Ronaldinho, i don't really like him but it's just because his first team in Europe was Paris SG... which is the biggest rival of O. Marseille ^^ but he's such a great soccer player
Zlatan, I really like the player part of him.. the man isn't really what I want that the pro soccer player represent for everybody..

It's better than the majority of football and Larry Brown basketball.
If you watch a Barca game, you can't help but appreciate how awesome that team is. If you could play any sport perfectly, they do it.

Ok it's quite boring sometimes (especially in the french league when two middle teams meet them!!!) but it could be very interesting and spectacular. Not as spectacular as most of the US Sports but it's a different sort of team sports.
The home/away game Barcelona vs Arsenal will be fun to watch!

I've always had a soft spot for soccer but wasn't a huge fan until about 2 years ago. I probably don't know as much as you guys since all the sites I see either don't cover soccer or seem to have a British bias (my favorite team is Inter Milan) but if I can catch a game here and there I'll watch it. I always wish I was better at it though.

To me soccer fans are more interesting then the actual game. The brawls are classic and the people that light road flares in the crowd wouldn't be allowed out the parking lot in America.

I think soccer would be more interesting to people if they could understand/appreciate it more. Anybody who didn't watch the world cup missed out on a fantastic tournament and it's even better watching the Americans fight and claw their way out of group play when they are severely undertalented compared to other nations.
They're actually a lot like the Bobcats of old that made most of us fall in love with them.

Back around 2000 fox sports net up in New York have on Sunday afternoons EPL coverage, where they condensed an entire game down to an hour show (with commercials!). But they did it so it just felt like a super faced paced game not a highlight real. And they showed 4 games every Sunday. I was working in a bar back then and had it on every week! I wish they still did that...
I've just finished watching the Newcastle/Arsenal game...Arsenal was up 4-0 at the half (they actually led 4-0 after 30 minutes)...Newcastle came back and got a 4-4 tie...one of the best games of the year...fast and furious...
Fav teams for me: Tottenham, Hibernian, Rangers, Barcelona....my sons fav is Roma...
