So I'm a really big DJ homer but still, this kid is just flat out amazing right now. Silas was supposed to install this up tempo offense, but the only guy that seems to REALLY be taking it to heart is DJ. We need to trade Jack and Wallace for some young guys that really wanna get out and run, it disheartens me to see him sprint his ass off after rebounds and Jack is sitting down talking to the ref, Boris is grabbing a nacho from a fan, and Wallace is jogging to his corner. And he's still making it work. I think if you get guys that want to run and maybe a guy that can hit a shot off a curl (though Hendo is quickly becoming that guy!!) theres no reason DJ can't be an efficient 22/10 player.

Crash and Jax need to go now. I've had enough. and I'm totally fine with DJ/Henderson as our backcourt for the future. We just need a 20ppg scorer at SF. (terrence jones, harrison barnes?) Hell, I wouldn't mind trading both their asses for Melo now even if he doesn't sign that extension.

But seriously... I'd almost be cool with JR Smith over Jackson at this point, and he's a lunatic.

I dont think I'm willing to throw Diaw away right now. He is our 2nd most reliable player along with DJ. Especially with TT out. But DJ has really come alive.

I love DJ! He's really quick, a bullet! He's defiantly improved from the beginning of the season and I'm so glad Micheal got rid of that old clown Larry. The Silas intermission has really upped his game, because we all know Larry's bad coaching skills where not adequate.

I just did the math since Silas took over, and DJ is averaging 19.0 ppg since the Grump's offense got shelved. DJ has some deficiencies, but if he keeps improving his distribution and can find any sort of defensive game, he is emerging as a top pg in the league. His confidence is up, he runs the floor well and is looking like a starting pg capable of destroying a team on any given night, rather than playing Princeton ball and almost getting run out of town for garbage. Let's build around him for the future. I hope he doesn't feel too slighted towards the franchise for being dangled as trade bait and a second-class citizen for the past 2+ seasons.

Is it possible that DJ over Brook Lopez was the right pick after all?

Brook Lopez averages 47% FG and 5.6 rebounds per game as a starting C getting 35+ mpg. Thats Bargnani level Charmin softness, and at least Bargnani has the excuse of being a perimeter player. He gets a lot of shot attempts on a team thats been horrible since he's been there.
Post-Silas DJ shits on Brook Lopez. Its just a matter of keeping it going now.

he is on a completely dysfunctional team. the reason i wrote no, is i would always draft the center over the point guard unless the point guard is a franchise changer like rose, wall, paul etc. dj is pretty good but not that good. we would be a much stronger team with a ray/jax/crash/diaw/lopez lineup.

you're making the assumption we would have agreed to pay Raymond Felton had we drafted Lopez, flawed argument. Lopez+Felton>DJ sure. But thats not the question.

we would have had that same lineup last year. we would have been better. although the other assumption would have to be a line up of felton/jax/crash/mek/lopez. and if we still have mek and his contract, my head would explode. basically, the argument and any like it is DOA when reality is taken into consideration. the whole butterfly effect. if we had lopez and mek would we have kept richardson? resigned felton?

exactly, getting into a coulda been lineup argument makes no sense. the only fair way imo is comparing what theyre actually doing and right now DJ is completely outplaying Lopez.

Huh? You mean Raymond? You better not have just gotten raymond and MICHAEL JORDAN mixed up! lol
The fact that we are having a conversation at all about DJ vs Lopez speaks so much about what DJ has been doing lately. I didn't like the pick on draft night and have said Lopez would have been the better pick for a couple of years now but after seeing where they both are today, I really have to think about it.
Here is the exact question to ponder...Would you trade DJ for Lopez, straight up, today?
Last year, it would be a no brainer Now, I'm not really sure. Again, that speaks volumes for what Silas has done for DJ and his value.

I wouldn't trade DJ for Lopez. Since Lopez is a poor rebounder and a weak defender to other elite centers.

No to trading Lopez for DJ. How can your starting center, standing at 7ft, playing 34 minutes, only manage to grab 5.7 rebounds. How can your rebounding numbers regress from your rookie season in more minutes as a sophomore.

Lopez averages a full 2.8 more rebounds a game than DJ. Something is wrong there.

Kwame Brown is playing better than Lopez. For the Lopez lovers... just think about that for a second.

Not saying that I would trade DJ for Lopez but Lopez has had mono which means that it usually takes about a year to recover all the muscle you lost from it, I think Lopez's rebounding numbers are a little low b/c of that

If you want a 20/5 center you can get Bargnani for almost for free. He's probably even better than Lopez.
btw, funny how all the haters on realgm now stfu since DJ is shitting on Lopez right now.

I thought DJ was just outstanding offensively last night.
i may have spoken to quickly but not sure my position has changed. dj is playing fantastic offensive basketball but average to less than average defensive ball. it would be very difficult for me to trade dj right now based on his salary/production. i would certainly not do the dj for jt trade that i would have done a month and half ago. but, i would like to extend the same credit to oak and staff working on kwame's toughness towards lopez. lopez has rebounded in the past and has played better which means he is capable. i am not sure why he isn't doing that this year. maybe it's avery? maybe the even shittier team than last year? maybe kardashian's boyfriend is stealing boards while lopez is the center of attention? maybe all the melo trade talk has the whole team playing badly? whatever it is, he has shown he is capable. oak can certainly kick his ass into shape. i am always inclined to trade a point for an elite level center (which lopez has shown he can be) unless the point is a franchise (cp3, deron, rose, rondo, westbrook, nash) definer. dj is much much much better now than he was under brown but i don't see him at the top 5 in the league level.

Once again, I believe it is due to the loss of muscle as a result of mono. I mean the guy averaged almost 9 rebounds last year.

DJ does more for a team then Lopez. I did a backflip on draft night when we picked up DJ instead of Lopez. Team should have started DJ on day one. Probably should have fired LB over the summer too but we can't have everything in life
