No, I'm not advocating him for the Bobcats.

But I am curious to hear your opinions on what caliber of player that you think he can become in the NBA.

Is he just another in a long line of undersized high scoring college shooting guards that never quite make it big in the NBA ( see Jodie Meeks )

Will he be a Morrison-esque bust?

Or will this kid be the one that turns into something special?

according to chad ford (who has a good handle on these things) the scouts are mixed. some think he will be fine some think he will not because all of the reasons you mentioned. i think he will be very team dependent like jj reddick. put him on a solid team like the spurs, magic, celtics he will be an asset put him on a team like the bobcats and he will be a disaster.

Yeah he definitely reminds me of JJ

dude has great work ethic, something morrison never had. He has pretty good athleticism and can score all over the court. He will be a first rounder and probably first rounder. Funny because the Bobcats could definetly use him on offense haha. The downside about him is that his shot selection is iffy and defense isnt very good. Shot selection i get because he is man among boys in that conference and for his team to win he needs to shoot, however all in all he will probably go late first and be solid role player for team like spurs in beginning of career

He won't be a first rounder. He's a fantastic college player, but likely won't play much (if at all) in the NBA.

wont play much at all? whats difference between him and anthony morrow or sasha vujacic? they get PT and Jimmer has more upside

Sasha is a legit 6'7 and a more than adequate three point shooter. Morrow is 6'5, can score in as many ways as Fredette, and STILL went undrafted.

Fredette will be better than Courtney Lee, first rounder. same height. I mean Nate Robinson is in league and he a 5'7 Shooting Guard.

Nate is in the league as much for the sideshow as anything else. Plus the guy is an insane athlete (something Fredette isn't). He's going to have to show an ability to play D because guys like Lee are capable of locking an opponent down (something else Fredette hasn't shown).

I don't think he will be a bust. Late bloomer in the NBA, quality bench guy.

So any athleticism that people thought Fredette didnt have should be squashed. he obviously showed his quickness last night against SDSU and looking at his numbers.. his best games are against his elite opponents, something you look for in a guy from a non-bcs conference school. He doesnt have to be a good defender to be in the league anyway (Ben Gordon, Jason Richardson, DJ Augustin).. he will get PT immediately when he walks in to the league as at minimum 8th man, everyone could use a guy that puts points on board way he does

Jimmer Fredette
Aubrey Coleman
Stephen Curry
Lester Hudson
Jermaine Taylor
David Holston
Reggie Williams
Charron Fisher
Michael Beasley
Trey Johnson
Morris Almond
Kevin Durant
Gary Neal

Those 13 guys have averaged 25+ points for a season in college. Of those 13. Only 3 are anything special in the league. (Durant, Steph, Beasley). Reggie Williams and Gary Neal are solid role players. Just because you score a ton of points, doesn't mean you'll break into the league doing the same thing. Add in the fact that he's small even by PG standards and it's going to be tough for him to be valuable.

If we go after a back-up type PG I'd rather have a guy that is known for "D" and a good distributor...great quickness and size would also help...LOL

Jimmer is a poor man's JJ Redick...that's it. Not in any way a Steph Curry type.

Jimmer is strong with the ball, a better athlete than Curry or Reddick. He is overall a better scorer than both because he does it from inside and out. He is a tough player and can light up the scoreboard. He will be a top 20 pick, Chad Ford agrees with me by the way. Fredette will do good in system where he can kind of free lance, so therefore he is perfect for us. However he will have to be on court at same time as either Livingston or Hendo, never with DJ.

He's a "yawner" in my book...even in a weak draft I'm not much interested...

...and Chad Ford...not sure if I hold him in "high regard" evaluating draft talent...

Jimmer is a yawner? you watch him play against SDSU? He is most exciting player in NCAA.

Its tought to tell on tweeners, especially exciting ones from smaller schools. I disagree with the people that feel he wont be good. But I mean they are hit n miss so only time will tell

jimmer is not half the athlete of curry and jj is pretty damn good athlete (minus his recent defensive stumble!). jimmer has yet to impress with me with athleticism. he is an awesome college basketball player though and one of the only players worth watching in college along with kemba walker. neither will be great pros though.

Jimmer is not half the athlete Curry is? That is an outlandish statement. I am not even going address that deeper. JJ Reddick is a good athlete now, however in college he was not.

He may excite you in College...but the NBA is anything but College...IMO for the NBA the kids a yawner...

please do. curry is a very good pro and could very well be an all star in time. this is not only because of his shot. not that it matters a ton but curry did just win the skills competition which does take alot of athleticism.

The day we draft Jimmer is the day I become a Clippers fan. Because that'd be better.

The kid would be a nice 2nd round pick at 40th. 2nd round is all hit and miss any way . But i wouldn't want to use a mid first round pick to take that chance. But a great pick at 40th in this draft.

Best possible scenario for Jimmer is a 7th-8th man scoring puch off the bench a la JJ Redick.

I wouldn't take him in the 1st round.

The long armed mobile defenders in the NBA will shut him down. Unless he has another NBA skill besides scoring he will be a bust.

Agreed. Would be JJ Barea as an absolute best case scenario....more likely to be about as good in the pros any white high-scoring small PG of recent years.

Bleacher Report has us taking Jimmer in their most recent Mock Draft. Lucky for us, they are usually way off.
