View Full Version : An NBA player that wants to be in Charlotte!

• The Bobcats are 8-5 since Paul Silas replaced Larry Brown and arrived at the halfway point in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, quieting speculation that owner Michael Jordan could be moving toward fire-sale mode with veterans Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace. Jackson, in fact, wants to stay in Charlotte and is not asking for a trade -- despite apparent interest from Dallas. A trade to the Mavs presumably would give Jackson a chance to be the missing piece on a championship-contending team in the West, but sources say it's more complicated than that. The Mavs first have to find out if they're still an elite team with a healthy Dirk Nowitzki and with Peja Stojakovic replacing Caron Butler, who may or may not return for the playoffs. If they're not, adding Jackson and the $19.3 million he is owed over the next two seasons wouldn't make sense for either party. "He's happy there," a confidant said of Jackson. "He loves the city of Charlotte, and he loves to play for one of the greatest players to play the game, Michael Jordan."
I know he hasn't been playing well but come on people, how many players with Jax talent actually want to play here? He has not been to much of a problem off the court, it's just his shot is off, turnovers, and techs but he can't stay cold forever. Wallace is struggling but I think with the right trade to cover up TT lose, we can hit a stride and ride into the playoffs.

I agree. This team just needs depth. Bring in someone to play behind Wallace and a temp for tyrus's injury and we will be a competitive team.

And this would be the trade for that http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4hag2wv. Also posted it in the trade discussion thread if you can't view the players

Reguardless if Jackson likes being here or not He's not producing.

Wallace for Murphy and one of the Nets first rounders. That would solve everything. Our starting lineup would return to the one that had the most success this season with Hendo and Jackson starting together. We have Murphy to come off the bench for Diaw and provide some scoring, and also some size and rebounding. Plus we get the expiring contract and hopefully that pick. That team would probably be better off now and in the future than this current team. Defiantly better off in the future.

That trade would be awesome but the Cats would have to add Someone like Boris for teams to even consider moving players like JJ and Thompson.

And to get back to the OP. It is nice to have a player say he wants to be in charlotte, and loves being here. Nazr said the same thing earlier, he even went as far as to say it's stay in charlotte or retire for him. Nice to hear, helps Jackson get back on my good side, but he still isn't producing. Hopefully it's just a big slump for him....until a week and a half ago he actually was producing.

So you can claim it is our best line up after they played only about 3 maybe 4 games together total. I think they played well because Boris actually stepped up for once and Jackson was making shots. Tyrus was also still healthy and giving his boost of energy off the bench. So with you logic you think we will be good when we don't have our 2 best defensive players. SMH.

Wallace hasn't been a good defensive player at all this season. Neither has Jackson.
And Silas has said himself that Henderson and Jackson play well together... Its not like dude is talking out of his ass.

Have you ever stopped to think that the REASON those guys were playing better was because of the lineup? I mean your proving my point. Jackson played better because he is a SF not a SG. He also played better defense and Silas even came out and said that Jackson at SF is when this team is best. Diaw had better games because the paint was left open because Hendo has a good mid-range game compared to Wallace who can only score by crashing the basket.
2 Best defensive players? Wallace has been terrible on defense. Henderson is NO DOUBT the best defender on this team. Leaps and bounds better than Wallace. I mean your just blinded by your love for Wallace. Which is fine, that's part of being a fan. But eventually just take a step back, take the blind folds off, and then take a fresh look at it. This team was scoring more, playing better defense, and having better individual success when Wallace was out of the lineup. And just for the record, I don't think were good now, so we certainly woudln't be good then. We would be better off. And if you look at wins, that lineup is our best lineup.

Don't get me wrong it is not my love for Wallace I just love what he brings to the team with his energy and passion. He is that type of player you want to keep around for the fans. I would like to see his jersey retired based solely on what he has done for this franchise. The guy has put it all on the line for this team year after year. The only way I could see us trading Wallace is if he is asking to be. Also I will wait to claim Henderson as the best Defensive player until at least the season is over. I am sure if you ask anyone on the team or in the league who our best defender is they will all choose Wallace.

I completely agree with you about Wallace, trust me. But when a player is not that same old player, you have to realize it and move on. And I can GUARANTEE you that the coaching staff and most Bobcats would say Henderson is the best defender. If they didn't think that, then they would of had Wallace guarding Rose in the final seconds of the game, not Henderson. Wallace's defense has been suspect at best this year.

Jack has been playing like pure shit. If he's gonna stay, then Crash has to go. It's one or the other. Which ever guy is traded needs to be put in a package to bring in a guy that either is a go-to scorer, or has go-to scorer potential.

Wallace on rose is to much of a mismatch. you would of had to change the line up and pretty much take DJ out of the game. They figured 2 people would take the chance to shoot Deng or Rose since Korver was in bounding. Wallace covered Deng cus he is 6'9 and Henderson was on Rose.

Seriously this isn't the Jack I saw when I saw him playing Cleveland (granted it was Cleveland) but still he was in his stride, him an DJ were tearing it up (only game Ive been able to make this season). If he can get back to that good things can happen just get some backup at the 3 and 4 and this team can win.

I really think its as simple as moving him to the 3... Seeing him attempt to cover Joe Johnson was hilarious and he's not the kind of guy who can just get burned all night and be expected to positively contribute on the other end of the court.

You could had easily put Jack on Deng and Wallace on Rose with Hendo on the in-bounder. Fact is, Henderson is a better defender. If you watch the games, it becomes painfully obvious...Wallace continuously lets his man just blow past him on defense. Wallace's blocks have gone down and so has his one on one defense. He's just not the same player you want him to be. He's not what he was last year. If he was then no one would have a problem and the Bobcats would be winning games.

I agree with you. Jack is a 3, not a 2. Despite how shitty Jack has played recently, we still need his scoring and shoot potential. Put him and Hendo on the court together and you get better defense out of Jack, and really good defense from Hendo. You get better shooting overall, and as a result Diaw can do more of his thing and DJ can actually play PG and have options to pass to when he drives. Everyone says Wallace is our most valuable asset, so that's all the more reason to trade him. We've seen Jack and Hendo have success together, if you can trade Wallace for a player to better the depth now, and help in the future (cash savings or draft pick), then you have to do it.

*drools over peja's shooting ability* uh...what....huh... oh... um, well if jack wants to stay in charlotte, that's nice. HOWEVER, team is NOT a fucking "Democracy". His opinion really doesn't phase me. I give him 2 games to show us he is worth keeping. Why 2? because if he fails to impress us, the more games he sucks at, the lower his trade value. Basketball is about WINNING(Don't let any fucking movies tell you otherwise) and if we see a better option we should go with it. As Yogi Berra once said: "If you come to a fork in the road, take it"

Peja is heading to the Mavs. Plus only thing he would be good for on this team is to back up Wallace. Other than that his 8 ppg is worthless to us.

*I DON'T WANT PEJA*
This team needs a consistent 3 point threat other than DJ. Even though we're playing much better ball under Silas, we've still got arguably the worst spacing in the league. Guys are more than content letting Jackson throw up garbage and leaving Wallace to the corner.

When he took a step back this season I felt Larry Brown was holding him back. Now Larry Brown is gone and Crashes body language is not very good. I feel Crashes troubles are personal and though he is not asking for a trade he does not seem happy either. I am not ready to pull the trigger on a trade but if he simply does not show more effort or perform better than yes I say we trade him before or on the trade deadline.
I am not as down on Stephen Jackson as most. He has played hard and has been a key contributor to some solid wins this season. I would say he has helped more than hurt our team.
Silas has given Gerald Henderson a chance and I feel that Henderson could be a starter for sure.
At the end of the day I have pulled no punches where I stand on MJ saving some money and building from nearly scratch. I don't see any trades that will propel this team to anything special. If we are slipping and not playing well leading up to the trade deadline than I feel it would be wise for MJ to blow it up and rebuild. Your guys DJ and Gerald Henderson should be a part of the rebuilding and I have faith that TT has room for improvement and should be a part of the rebuilding as well. Other than that I have no problem parting from whatever else we can part from.

All I can say here is hurt your ankle or hurt your knee and see how long it takes to heal to 100% again while playing on it... geeze people... GW will be back to his old self in time... :)

I will always be grateful and appreciative of Crash and what he has given our team but at the end of the day the NBA is more than a sports league it is a business and it may make more business sense to trade Crash. Not because he has not been himself but because he could be worth more traded. We need a 5 and he could bring us a pretty good player at that position.

Crash is more valuable to this team then what we can get back in just about any trade. Jackson is still a good player and if he can pick up his fg % then he will be even better. No need to move either. Depth at the 3 and 5 is all I believe this team needs. 4 is solid once Tyrus is back. Feels funny saying it but it would be nice if Doip didn't get injured.
