something, somewhere is causing the server load to rise occasionally :g:
It has caused us to need to reboot twice in the last 10 days to clear it up. I have Hostgator investigating the problem so hopefully we can get that cleared up for good.

:-) I'm thinking the culprit may possibly be bots hitting the chat room. I'm going to make a quick change so that only registered members can view it, that should stop some of the bot traffic.

Google, MSN and Yahoo have bots ( or crawlers ) that always crawl through links throughout the web so that they can index pages and add them to their search results. When I installed the chatbox I noticed some weird jumps in the amount of bots. So by only allowing registered users, it'll eliminate the bots hitting it.

If it happens again, then I can at least rule out the chatbox as the problem.
