Now that we have this entire section and we can spread our trade ideas out a little bit, I would like for someone to give me a plausible trade scenario where we might be able to acquire a young ( under 30 ) starter quality center.
OK, trade gurus. Make it happen

I have three names for you: Peter John Ramos

Chances are none of you have ever heard of him, He never really had much hype but then again he's never been injury prone, he's quite athletic for his size, extremely young, 7'3", and aqquiring him would be cheaper than buying a used toyota

I have seen him play in person, dude has potential

Triple post C-C-C-Combo Breaker
Marc Gasol would be great but his contract is too small. Only legit options are Kaman or Nene.

I'll take Nene over Kaman. Kaman's perpetual injuries scare me.
I was actually talking earlier today, go through the year with Kwame, then S&T Jack for Marc Gasol with Memphis and let Hendo take over.

I'm pretty sure Peter John Ramos was an NBA message board punchline a few years ago.

I've thrown my support behind Nene. I think we could get him Jack, and if we got him to agree to an extension it could be awesome.

I doubt we could get Mark Gasol. I would go after one of the following guys: D Jordan - second round pick so his contract comes up soon, A Bynum - he is injury prone but if the Lakers would do something around Bynum for Jackson that could work for us, Tabeet - A project but might be a good time to pick him up.

Nene for gw. a simple idea. Hendo steps in at sg and shift jack to the 3. Not saying its everyones cup of tea but its and idea. (hope you understand my english metaphor)
nene for jax won't ever happen. doesn't make sense at all. they have jr smiff and afflalo at sg and if they are parting with nene it signals a rebuild for sure and they sure as hell wouldn't want jax.
my list is kaman (we could get him for crash) but for injury reasons i don't want him. daniel orton or hasheem thabeet could be had but i am not sure either are going amount to anything. or the darkhorse and very long shot would be greg oden, i think portland would part with him if we overpaid. something like:
cats out:
crash, nazr, right to swap picks this year, 2014 #1 unprotected
cats in:
brandon roy (assuming he stays somewhat hurt and won't be an allstar basically a bad contract), greg oden and sean marks (filler)

That is a trade that I would do in a heartbeat.

Not right now, no. But I was going over it, the only teams that could really go after him AND need a center are OKC, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Phoenix and us. No one wants to sign with CLE or DET, Houston is still holding out for Yao, and PHX doesn't mesh with Gasol's style of play. That leaves us and OKC, and I think OKC is staying off the FA market.

I think overpaying D.Jordon(who i think is a bit overrated) or Gasol. Not that i would be against it. I think Nene will be opting out of his contract this summer when Melo leaves.

How about Andris Biedrins from Golden State? He's got 4 years left on his contract at about 9 million each year, so he would be an expensive option. If GS is willing to part with him to save money, it might be worth looking at. We could offer Diop and Nazr (if they agree to buy out Nazr so we can resign him) and maybe a 2nd rd pick. They would save money and get a 2nd rounder, we would get a defensive minded 24 year old center.

i am sure they would rather have bieds at 4 years 9 mil than diop for 2 more years at 7.5 mil. plus, bieds is a contributing center if they part with him they will have to get a center back.

Lakers are balking at Bynum for Melo. They wont even answer the phone call from MJ if we were talking Jax for Bynum.

our best bet would be to draft a C and have oakley work with him and hopefully in a year or two we will have a young stud at the C position, like a hibbert. thats the best way to get a big man, is to draft him, so atleast you will have him on a good rookie scale contract for a few years to build around him. and if we don't wana go through the draft route, i would say the next best thing is try to get Hasheem Thabeet, and develop him the say way we would a draft pick.
I know you asked the "trade route" question but realistically Ziggy...what team is going to trade a promising young 5...?
I'd like to see us get Keith Benson (second round hopefully) and if Oak is still here turn him loose on him...that's our best bet (through the draft) as a few others have said...I'm a bit underwhelmed (more offense less rebound and "D") with the first round Cs this year...I doubt Benson will ever be a star but he strikes me as a kid that will have a solid NBA career...

You probably shouldn't ask me, to this day I still believe in Shawn Bradley's abilities lol

Hollinger has a new article out about under-the-radar players to deal for.
First, Derrick Brown is included as someone that should be a rotation player and Hollinger doesn't understand why Silas doesn't play him more.
Second, what do you guys think about Kyle Fesenko (Utah) and Ian Mahinmi (Dallas)?
I think Fesenko would be a great target for us. He's a young, defensive minded center who also has an expiring contract. We can try him out and look to resign him, or let him go, depending on his play. Maybe we could offer Diaw for Fesenko and a 1st round pick? Utah has some trade exceptions they could use to make the salaries work.
I can't decide if Kwame and Nazr are awful defensively or if it's the scheme. I feel like right now, our biggest weakness is the Center position because of the defensive side of the court. Fesenko might be a nice upgrade there.
Thoughts?

hollinger must be going off the stats, PER, usage rate etc, because if you watched him play it is pretty obvious why silas is rotating jax, crash, hendo, najera around the 2,3 and 4 positions. ups just hasn't developed enough of an offensive game or bbiq (at least hendo has a pretty good iq) to bring much to the game.
as for finding a quality center...it is very unlikely any of the young guys who will turn out will be traded (deandre jordan, udoh, etc) and the established centers are either overpaid now (biedrins), injured (bynum, kaman) or are just too expensive (nene) for a trade with us. we are probably going to have to either overpay a free agent center or get lucky in the draft. the same applies for most teams.
Utah is trying to cut salary not add...and there is no indication they're will to trade Fesenko...just the opposite...
Mahinmi...there might be a reason no one ever hears anything about the guy...
Outside of dunks, Derrick has no value at all. He knows how to get to or under the rim for a pass, but he can't hit J's (well he can, but he refuses to shoot them), can't play D and doesn't know where to go.

I actually agree with what you guys are saying, I was just throwing it out there.
Here's what he said about Brown:
"Derrick Brown, Bobcats
I have no idea why Paul Silas has kept Brown on the pine while rolling out mediocrities such as Dominic McGuire and Matt Carroll to take his minutes. I do know this: He has NBA athleticism, can shoot well enough to get by and, as a second-year pro, can still improve. That combination of attributes is the type you like to take a chance on, and although Brown's upside isn't huge (he's 24 and has had PERs in the 12s his first two seasons), I'm fairly sure he can be a rotation player if he gets half a chance."
