Please don't let me be the only one and also what do you guys think?
How can you let such atrocious officiating slide by without consequences. Bobcats and Pacers are fighting for the 8th seed and when it comes down to the most crucial possession of the game you just let it slide and don't make the right call. Lets not forget the officiating of the entire game was terrible and what about the inadvertent whistle that led to 4 Pacer points. Go back and Watch tape of the Bobcats Celtics game on Monday and look at what they considered a foul on Paul Pierce at the end of the game. Then you have Blatant contact on Jackson tonight and they don't call anything. And you wonder why people think the NBA is rigged? Because night in and night out Refs make horrendous calls that change the out come of games. If you fine players for arguing with refs about calls and coaches who question officiating, then you should hold officials to the same standards. You have films of every game and can look and evaluate the integrity of the officials. You also have the ability in games to use instant replay. How about you actually put it to use. I will still support players and teams, but you lost a supporter of The NBA. Things like this that are overlooked in sports are just unacceptable.

Didn't watch the game but the Ref's have robbed the Bobcats repeatedly.

Your not alone. I submitted a letter as well. Too bad no one really cares or reads them.

I haven't posted anything tonight and have been approaching the board with extreme caution, but my only questions are:
1) Why would the NBA be rigged for the Pacers to do well?
2) Why would the NBA be rigged for the Bobcats to suffer?
I'm not arguing against your claim that it is necessarily, but I'm just trying to figure out how this benefits the league (otherwise it would seem to be pointless for them). Also, I think the league has used instant replay wisely this year, and they have been consistent with their own standards. Here are the current replay modifications:
http://www.nba.com/2010/news/10/21/instant-replay/index.html
Note that they will look to see who should shoot foul shots, but they will not use it to actually call a foul.

This. Wit all due respect Deadshot, you can look for justification however you want, but even if I wasn't a fan of either team, it was clear the Bobcats got hosed last night, you have to admit it. At least when it counted - the inadverdent whistle, the 4 points that followed, the no-call on Jack's final shot, not to mention two less obvious fouls on McRoberts (over the back when he tipped the ball in, which may have still been in the basket as well) and Hibbert blatantly pushin Henderson on the way to a loose ball and then he (Hibbert) fell over.
They take it out on our team because of Jack's rep with the refs. It's not right. They're not supposed to bring any bias to the game themselves, yet they do, and this was the most blatant example of it.
BTW guys, what was the link you're sending thses emails to, I'd like to chime in.

http://www.nba.com/email_us/contact_us.html is what I used (using the dropdown selection of "Officiating in the NBA")
I'm not arguing against your claim that it is necessarily, but I'm just trying to figure out how this benefits the league (otherwise it would seem to be pointless for them).
My sense is that if the league wants contraction, what better way than to alienate small market teams' fan base. If you impact the probability that they can win 50/50 games (look at Liv's foul, look at last night, there are many more examples but these are grossly apparent and this week) then how many will tune it out? Is this truly what I believe? I dunno - I don't own any tinfoil hats. But if refs clearly will not give calls to rookies over vets, why not extrapolate that from younger (much less influential) teams vs. more established teams with longer histories?

How about we write a letter to the guys on the team so that they don't look so lost on the last possession of the game?

Gerald was lost almost the whole game, not just the last possession. His defensive rotations make Matt Carroll look like 1st team all-defense.

Dear Erik:
Thank you for contacting the National Basketball Association with your concerns regarding officiating. The NBA’s highest priority is to ensure that every game is determined on its merits.
We take seriously the performance of our officials. They are subjected to incredible scrutiny by the league, including tracking every call they make and holding them to the most rigorous standard in all of sports. Not only is their past performance measured, charted, and evaluated, but we employ a system of stringent metrics designed to continually hone their skills and improve their overall ability. We strive to ensure that NBA games are officiated at the highest possible level with the understanding that perfection is an unattainable goal.
Thank you again for your concern. We appreciate your feedback regarding this issue.
Sincerely,
NBA Fan Relations
Pretty much saying hey we don't need to change anything because people will still watch so sorry you are mad. What a joke.
As for what you said Deadshot I think you missed the main point of the letter. But to answer your question anyway, A ton of people think the NBA is a joke because it is by far the worst officiated professional sport and they have not made a very big stride to try and fix it. It was not directed 100% towards the Pacer and Bobcats but the league in general. If you watched the game you would have seen that it was 100% a foul that determined the outcome of a crucial game for both teams and they refused to do there job as officials. When things like that happen it completely ruins the integrity of the game. What other sport is there where refs blows a call that bad and not have to step in front of the media and explain them selves. I have seen it in football and baseball. When there officials screw up big time they are usually there the next day to say sorry after watching I made an honest mistake. Last night the refs watched what happened ended the game and walked off the floor without comment and you will probably never hear about this again. To me that is unacceptable. If you are a sports fan I do not see how you can disagree.

(I'd quote you WrxErik but every time I try quote something, the system says it will be proofed by a moderator and I don't see it get posted - guess I still need more bench time)
I am right there with you on the standing up part. I certainly was beyond p**sed (I was not profane however in what I wrote) and I wanted someone to have to accept that what's going on is hurting a portion of their (the NBA's) fan base. I want to believe some human has to read them - whether they are an intern that is in the middle of surfing porn at the time or not, someone (I hope) does have to put human eyes on these letters.

Anyone with under 5 posts (which you just reached) cannot post a link without moderator approval, to eliminate spambots.
Also, no reason to use ** in pissed, you can write whatever you want on here. No censors.

I really wish there was a way to go more public with this. This kind of stuff is ruining the NBA and the league it self does not seem to care. But as fans I would hope we all do since this 1 game could possibly determine whether we make the playoffs or not.

The only thing the NBA would understand is to boycott the games ... having said that they would probably just eliminate the teams with the most boycotter's.. I still think it has to do with gambling and BIG money changing hands ... but thats just my opinion.. 8)

You implied the NBA was rigged in your post as a direct response to this game. Do I think the league is rigged? Yes, at times. I've seen a lot of games get close in the 3rd quarter because of primarily officiating. And I think there are a lot of questionable calls at the end of nationally televised games as well. Do I have any evidence that the game is rigged? No, its pure speculation. But I did read your post and understood it - if your whole point was that the league is rigged, it would have to correlate to the game you were referring to in some way. So I was just wondering why the league even cared about this game to be honest. I never said NBA refs are right all, or even most of the time. I've been critical of refs here before if you look in the regular NBA forum (a post regarding 5 T's called in a short time in a T'Wolves game).

How about we write a letter to the guys on the team so that they don't look so lost on the last possession of the game? LOL Laughter is the best medicine. +1
Also, kudos to you guys writing the league. As we know it won't do any good, but there's something special about standing up for principles.

Yes, without a censor I need to play the beginning of Four Weddings and a Funeral on here. That is about how many times I said Fuck last night after watching the Bobcats game ( and I said it a lot more during the Carolina-Duke game).

So glad to see that link from espn and that they are trying to not let this slide. DeadShot I have the same opinion on just about everything you just said. I did not intend to make the letter have the sense that I thought the NBA was rigged, rather I wanted to make a point of why the NBA is losing fans. "And you wonder why people think the NBA is rigged? Because night in and night out Refs make horrendous calls that change the out come of games." Correct me if I am wrong because I did not intend for the true message of the letter to be me thinking the League is rigged.

I think it was Indy by 4 and the over/under at 195 or something. Both bets were covered either way so I don't think the refs threw the game (for money reasons)

Couldn't help but think of this thread with the officiating down the stretch of the NYK game. Some of the most ridiculous non-calls I have seen in Bobcats history.

I was at the same thing. I couldn't freakin believe the no call when bill Walker pushed DJ on the ground. Ridiculous.
