Season 1- last game of the season. Bernie plays the starters as Larry Brown rests the Pistons starters.... Result Bobcats win, tie New Orleans for wins, lose the coin flip and its been all down hill from there.
Somehow years later we are roasted by center that Larry Brown bypassed for a pg that wouldn't have been a need if only he wouldn't have rested his starters in Fantastic Fanale 1.
I blame Larry for all the roster problems from season 2 through tonight. (only half kidding)
So F'ing frustrated by this team! By the effort, the contract problems, the roster make up.
We have 2 legit starters on this team (Jack and Crash)
2 other starters would be excellent 6th men on a good NBA team (DJ and Boris)
Our starting center would be decent back up big man on a good NBA team, although for the vet minimum it was a solid addition- just not starting quality.
Our injured 6th man, is the perfect 6th man/ energy/defensive big man off the bench- just question the contract.
Henderson- looks like he could be a player down the road.
Livingston- would make a decent 5th guard ( 3 string pg & sg)
The rest of the roster might not even be in the NBA without guaranteed contracts
Blow it the fuck up! Even if we get pennies on the dollar talent wise from trades, it's time to start over!!!!

I want to Blow it up as much as almost anyone, but now isnt the time to do it. We need to try and make the playoffs this year and get some more exposure. We need to build up a bigger fan base and get some respect from players around the league that maybe this isnt such a bad place to play. Granted, that might take a decade or two, but if we can make the playoffs this year it will at least be a start.
Plus, at this point in the season we probably arent going to get a top 5 pick anyway. I would rather play out the rest of the season, and THEN trade Diaw and Jack for draft picks and young players. Try and sign a young promising player in free agency, and then next year we can suck it up.
I guess I just dont see the point in trading everyone away now, and still end up having the 10th pick in the draft, which would only be a few spots better than our inevitable first round playoff exit or if we dont even make the playoffs anyway.
Does that make sense? lol

It makes sense, I just don't see us making the playlets with the current roster. With the tough schedule we have left and that we lose every tie breaker with the teams we are in contention with.
My reason for blowing it up now is- with the uncertain atmosphere this offseason with the CBA, I don't think teams will be willing to make many moves or take any risk with adding to their cap. If we deal now, teams will be more willing to take a risk to win now.
I'm just really, really frustrated right now.

Yeah, I feel you. Its tough being such a mediocre team. There is nothing worse than being stuck in the middle. Not very good, but not absolutely awful either. Sometimes I dont know if I want the Bobcats to win or lose.
If you get an offer of cap relief AND young talent (not picks, but already in the league talent) for Jack, Crash, Boris or Naz (by coupling a bad contract), you take it. Otherwise, no way you try to blow it up. This team financially needs to make the playoffs until the end of next season (11-12), then let Paul retire and start the rebuild with a stable franchise.

I've been saying this for MONTHS, but fans around here will simply not hear it. I think there are a lot of delusional fans that cling to false hope that post here. The talent is simply not there. Your team has major, major issues when its two best players make one another redundant. The bench is one of the very worst in the NBA. The front court is a joke. I can go on and on. I don't see the point in getting draft picks considering the front office will just bungle things further.

Blowing it up sounds just fine...the problem is when you have nothing to blow up...we have two NBA starters, Crash and Jack, and if you can't get anything of value back for one/both of them what exactly are you "blowing up"...?
This organization has taken on enough bloat to last a lifetime...so if the option is take on more bloat to rid ourselves of the only starters we have, Crash and Jack, or let contracts end so we have some flexibility I'm for letting contracts end...not take on more bloat...
IMO if the organization is approached with anything bearing a resemblance of of value, young players with potential/along with picks or a combination, then we'll see Crash or Jack traded...but why the heck would anyone want to "blow-it-up" without getting something back...?
...and Absinthe...I don't mean to imply that's what you're advocating...but I want it to be clear from my stand point...I want value in return if we're going to "blow-it-up"...not more bloated BS...and frankly with the CBA ending I doubt that happens...most teams are unwilling to trade away "young potential/picks" because of that...so we're (as an organization) are stuck...or take on more bloat...
Jason Fleming, at Hoopsworld, has just written an article "Five Teams At A Crossroads"...here is the piece about us...and the link...
Charlotte Bobcats
It says something when the most positive news to happen to a team in recent memory is their 48-year-old owner practicing with the team and impressing the current roster. Sure, in Charlotte's case that owner is the great Michael Jordan, but still – it has not been a banner season for the Bobcats.
After a playoff appearance last spring the team sounded like they wanted to build on that. Then they let point guard Raymond Felton walk to the New York Knicks for nothing and traded starting center Tyson Chandler to Dallas for Erick Dampier's fully non-guaranteed contract, which they waived. Boom, two starters gone with nothing in return.
Perhaps we shouldn't be so surprised Jordan's practice seems to be the only recent highlight.
At 22-31 the Cats are still within shouting distance of the Eastern Conference playoffs, but the rumor mill has them targeted as sellers. Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace both constantly find their names in rumors and none of them are moves to make the Cats a stronger team this year.
Still, they could attempt to go that route (emphasis on attempt). If they trade their key veterans, Jordan's practice may end up being the most positive story all season long.

There are teams out there A lot worse off than the Bobcats. Also I would not call it false hope since the team has shown it can compete, the problem is being inconsistent. You can't blow this team up imo. We are going to just have to wait it out until some contracts expire because of the mess Larry Brown left us with. Also why does every one think losing Chandler is such a big deal. From what I can remember he was not our starter because he was being out played by Nazr and was always complaining about his injured vagina. We paid him 12 mill to play like 20 games for us, did you think Jordan was going to pay him 13 after watching his ass sit on the bench? The problem was trading Oak for Chandler. We should have either kept Oak or found someone else to trade with. How can you want to see the team lose? This draft is terrible and nothing in the draft is guaranteed. You guys are proving why our team sucks. Without supportive fans we are never going to get anywhere which is why making the playoffs mean so much. I am sorry we are not going to become the Lakers or Celtics every night. I am also sorry the league is set up so that all the Star players now leave there drafted team because they want to be in a major market. Now lets see who disagrees with me. :)

The one thing that always seems to impress me about The Bobcats is that we always seem to get more out of less. We might have one of the worst rosters in the NBA from top to bottom, but we still have managed to get 22 wins, which is a lot more than some other teams can say. Those other teams also appear to have much more talent on their rosters.
I mean, look at a team like Golden State, they have David Lee, Monta, and Steph, along with other good players and they only have one more win than us. And then a team like the Knicks who only have 4 more wins than us with Amare, Felton, and some other pretty good players as well. Even a team like the Clippers has more talent on their roster in my opinion, yet we have two more wins than them (Gordon has been out for a while, but still).
Maybe im wrong here, but I feel like we have to be doing SOMETHING right to have even won as many games as we have with Tyrus out, Crash looking like a zombie for a while, Kwame Brown as our best big man, and Jax shooting 30% from the field every night.

This team is flat out a mediocre, middle-of-the-road team. We win some, we lose some. We beat the Celts one night and then post back-to-back losses against Indiana (direct competition), and NJ (horrible) afterwards. One night DJ, Boris, Crash and Jax look like they've finally flipped the switch, and then, we couldn't hit the ocean from the beach if we tried. I think once T2 gets healthy, he will help our bigs down low, as well as Crash seems to be improving more, and looking less lost. DJ has hit a wall of late, but on any night, dude can drop 25/7/3 and look like a top-10 pg in the league. Again, we are mediocre. We will fight to make the playoffs, which we probably will make up to the last game or two. We will probably make a lateral trade that gets us younger and more productive in the future, and mire in this muddy water until the '12-'13 season when the dumb contracts are done, players have matured, and we have pushed on past the core of Jack, Wallace and Diaw, and move forward with DJ, Hendo, Thomas + whatever assets we acquire at the trade deadline, free agency and the draft. Face it kids..... we are a boring predictable RomCom rather than an action-packed Summer blockbuster for the immediate future. That being said, I trust MJ, Higgins and hope we keep Silas on board. I think if we can muddle in .500 ball, make the playoffs and not regress with albatross contracts and crappy draft picks, we are poised to pounce in a couple of years with an OKC/Portland type of fun team to watch.
