First off, for those that have followed my recent posts I obviously wasn't a huge fan of trading Gerald Wallace..... but what happened has happened, so lets try and be optimistic about it.
Lets be honest, Gerald Wallace's best days are likely behind him. Whether he was playing cautiously or lost a step, he definitely wasn't the explosive force this season that had made him a fan favorite in the past.
Furthermore, we've always been regarded as a quick, athletic team, and going young only helps us continue that. Nazr gave us his all but never fit into that system.
We've got two new young guys, two future draft picks and some financial flexibility. So next year when we are able to acquire another young talent (think Tyrus Thomas) it will be because we didn't have GW's contract holding us back.
As for this season, I still think we have a good shot at the playoffs. Tyrus will be back within a week or two, and that will give Coach Silas some time to evaluate what these new guys can do.
Keep the faith, friends, keep the faith.

OK. Clearly no one wants to be optimistic about this just yet.
Is this the equivalent of bringing up the inheritance at a wake? Too soon?
I'm optimistic. Hendo gets to develop more and take over, Dante and DJ get to show us if they're worth anything, we get two future picks, and this likely means the end of Dom.
And there's still no excuse to miss the playoffs.

Totally support these trades too. Please tell me what Gerald Wallace can do that Henderson cannot. I know Hendo has a lot to prove, but physically he is AS gifted or better. He also has a better offensive game, and can defend anyone.
I love Crash, it sucks losing your franchise guy, but I think this is a good move for the Bobcats now and in the long run. As teej said we should still be in the playoffs this year.
We werent gonna win a championship with Crash as our ceiling, we were only a playoff threat. So now we have cap space, draft picks and still have the ability to make the playoffs. I cant see how this is a bad thing, besides the sentimental side.
Two first rounders (one rumored to be Hornets top 7 protected) is a steal if you ask me.
Very Very Very Optimistic over here.

Will have to agree. People are putting too much sentimental value on Gerald. We all love Gerald but having we're looking towards the future. Those saying MJ is being cheap, he is not. He is looking towards the future. No excuse not to miss the playoffs this year though.

The real focus now is going to be at Center. Hopefully Pryzbilla suits up for us, because Kwame can't do it all alone.

I'm on board!
It looks like MJ is trying to get us under cap for summer of '12. If we can just find a way to get rid of Diop and Carroll, both of which have player options that combine for over 10 mill then we're sitting pretty.
In '12-'13 we have SJax (10m) and TyThomas (8m) under contract with the DJs having qualifying offers and Livingston and Hendo with Team Options. (We gotta get rid of Diop and Carroll!).
Now, what good is that if we can't sign a big name free agent? I think MJ has to use the fact that he's MJ and sell this team/city to someone. Change the name of the team to the "Air" and just make it an extension of his Jordan Brand. Don't let this team be another NBA franchise, make it a Michael Jordan franchise.
Pair that with our 1st round picks we landed and I'm thrilled. Remember, Gerald Wallace was taken with the 25th pick of the draft. (and Tony Parker and Gilbert Arenas were drafted after him...)

I think Cunningham will be a nice surprise for many Bobcat fans. I've watched him quite a bit - Portland is 1 of my favorite teams to watch.
He's athletic and seems to have a high b-ball IQ. He's shown flashes in limited playing time with Portland.
Just 3 games ago he had 18 points and 13 rebounds in 24 minutes.

I really like the trade as much as i hate to change my name. We really came out on the winning end although it still hurts to lose crash. I agree about cunningham as well, kid might surprise some people. Really excited to see what young talent we can pick up in the next couple years.

I think this was a solid Bill Belicek style trade.
We gave up a very talented player before his trade value plummets. Think about it, What do you think Crash's trade value would look like NEXT season? I'm a huge Crash fan but lets be honest, he looked like a decaying husk of his former self up until about 10 games ago. Also throw in the fact that when he DOES play hard he tends to get injured.
It hurts that the face of the franchise is gone, but this was an acceptable deal to make at this time.
This trade is Ziggy-Approved.

yup pretty much. i agree good move. and as much as we over value crash it is apparent that gm's around the league value him at two maybe lotto picks and an expiring and that is about it. and in all reality, it is what they think to us.
the one i don't get is the nazr deal. dj white is not a great prospect by any means if he were able to play good minutes he would be by now. we didn't get any value in the deal and could use nazr 10x over what we got back for him. we should have gotten a pick. maybe take on an extra year of salary but added a first.
