I'm not looking to start up further debate about his trade, I just though I'd post this so those who weren't in attendance could see it. It didn't capture all of the video, but it does get the moment right. Though it does show Crash being emotional, in person you could really see him fighting back tears. I'm glad the organization did this; I thought it a fitting tribute for all he did.

Did the Tribute Video show Crash dunk at all
or rip down any rebounds ?
that is awesome. i was a little disappointed that only half of the crowd got up and gave him a standing ovation. i thought to myself "we have the worst fans".

Wallace remains man we loved (http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/03/12/2133675/wallace-remains-man-we-loved.html)
As Gerald Wallace walks into Time Warner Cable Arena on Friday, a Charlotte Bobcats employee approaches to say hello. But she begins to cry.
"There's a lot of emotion," Wallace says.
Professional sports are a business. We know that. We also know that without emotion, they're nothing more. A city falls for certain teams and certain players, and Charlotte fell for Wallace.
~snip~
Wallace highlights flash on the screen above the court before the game, and when they end, he is introduced.
The response is warm and loud and emotional. Wallace is emotional, too.
"I think they miss me as much as I miss them," Wallace will say later.
As fans cheer, he holds a basketball with his left hand and thrusts his right hand high.
Charlotte fans "helped me get where I am today," he says. "They helped me become the player I have. They've always been 100percent behind everything I've done. I owe them a lot of respect."
~snip~
But the best of them occurs before the game.
As Wallace runs through the tunnel after warm-ups, he stops to sign autographs. He signs for almost 15 minutes. A small kid inadvertently drops his Wallace jersey onto the ground, and Wallace picks it up and signs it and walks a few feet into the bleachers to hand it to him.
So the uniform is different. But the man is the same.
Hearing his name announced gave me chills man. I hope he wears a Bobcats jersey again, even if it's at the end of his career.

MJ had BETTER bring Gerald back when his 2 year contract runs out! Jordan has ripped the heart out of this team and this city and he OWES it to us to bring Gerald back. That is, if Gerald would even come back after being utterly betrayed by this organization.
Now, I'm not saying MJ is an idiot (but he might be, looking at past dealings) ... he had better COMPENSATE this fanbase with a CP3, Dwight Howard or BOTH. Keep Jack, and the bring back Gerald. There is your NBA title.

Only reason I went to the game and it was well worth it. Didn't tear up, but very emotional stuff. And bfer, don't know where you were sitting but from up in 215 looking down and around, I didn't see many that weren't giving the standing ovation.

I figured that video tribute would be a bit longer. Is part of it missing? It was well done by the team. I will miss hearing that G-Force introduction. He is still going to be one of my favorite players though, and I look forward to watching him play a key role in winning some playoff games for years to come.
I know morale is low, but this was a good trade for both teams. It is just hard to let go of the heart of a franchise that doesn't have much to begin with. Hopefully that Portland game is a sign of things to come. Watching from TV, it seemed like there was a good buzz in the arena.
I was referring to when he came into the game, not when they had the pre game tribute to him.
when he entered the game, I was sitting in 117 and a lot of people were not standing in the arena. where GW family sits was the only sections where every person was standing up.
thanks again for posting the pre game tribute, i would love to see the whole one.
side note-it still feels really weird seeing him on another time. I actually feel bad for the guy. it would be different if he said f this team, I wont out.
He is saying the opposite-how many charlotte sports players have said they want to retire here? I will miss his all out hustle and play, lets hope we can bring him back.

That Portland game was, in hindsight, great catharsis for me and maybe others who had taken the trade hard. And you're right, the constant energy from the crowd for a team who had lost 6 in a row was simply amazing, and I believe, fueled the guys to that win.
Once again, nice post. +1

Actually, I didn't record it. It was on the Bobcat's Facebook page and I posted the link from Youtube. I didn't mean to imply that I took the video, sorry about that.
It did show him from the beginning of his Bobcats' career until now and was a nice thing for the team to do, I think. It clearly meant something to all involved.
