Now I haven't started the single player campaign, but just on merits of MP, this game is batshitastic and addictive as all hell. I know ziggy and maybe some others are big Halo guys, but this is the way Halo MP should've always been. Badass Nanosuit is just badass, and like all good MP, you can customize it to suit your style of play, whether that be, run and gunner, stealth, or some combination. And the maps (13 in total) are versatile and great as well...not to mention the graphics.

COD4 will probably always be my alltime competitive MP fave, but this could take its place.

I'm getting an XBox 360 within the next week, but it will be a while before I catch up the playing ability of you guys. (Not to mention I'll be playing older games for a while.) I'll try to get up with you guys online over the summer.

Awesome!

The boy and I are still heavily into Halo Reach (we're hot after the lightning armor) so make sure you get a copy of that...can be had for around 40 bucks. We'll kick ass together.

I wish I could be like you guys and move on from game to game...but we've pretty much been locked into Reach since we got the boxes last Xmas. I did buy Black Ops for the daughter but I've never played it.

When the interest finally wanes I'll give Crysis 2 a shot. Beagle's opinion is no trifling matter.

Halo? More like Gaylo.
Gaylo? More like Failo.

Halo is overrated imo, far far far far overrated by Microsoft fanboys.

Beagle, your review speaks volumes.
After I plow through the remainder of Bulletstorm, Crysis 2 and/or Portal 2 are next on my list.

While I understand what you mean, I also know that video games incorporate a variety of things that make an experience valuable to individuals. If the game immerses the player and keeps them returning to the game, I don't really see how it is overrated, especially since this isn't a top 10 list of best games or anything.

halo 1, 2, 3, and wars were amazing games. odst and reach suck though. odst is abad concept and reach is just boring. and armor lock is gay

I guess with me being such a newbie to xbox it doesn't take as much to impress. I'm back from the days of playstation 1, gamecube and nintendo. Hell I even remember the atari.

I never believed a freaking game was worth 60 bucks...until I got this one. All the online stuff/interaction is an entirely new concept to me. We do the challenges almost every day, and Bungie even adds/mixes up the maps every once and a while.

We'll get tired of Reach eventually (the boy swears he's going all the way to "Inheritor")...but about 4 months later we're still going strong.

Armor lock DOES piss me off to no end...but mainly because I can't use it like a pro can. It's one powerful defense (can stop a rocket launcher hit), but it's aggravating as hell when someone else uses it against me.

I must be one of the only people that really enjoyed ODST. I liked the way that your character was powered down to more believable levels, and the music in the game gave a more immersive feel in my opinion.

On another note, I finished up Bulletstorm last night

i dont even play fps games online anymore for the most part though. cant afford to drop 60 dollars every 3 months for the newest greatest online game so nowadays I'm playing Bioshock that I just bought for 10 dollars and coop lego star wars complete series with my friends. (lol if you want but its damn fun)

honestly ive found it to be a lot more fun and relaxing than the whole competitive scene used to be. I'll probably go back and drop 20 more dollars and get fallout 3 and mass effect and never go on xbox live again.

$60 once a year on the new Call of Duty so I can work people whenever I get bored. Nobody can see my 2.71 k/d bitches! Every once in awhile I drop for the newest NBA 2K or FIFA.

Nothing wrong with any of that. I'm much more of a single player game kinda guy. Bioshock is my favorite game probably ever and Fallout 3 and Mass Effects 1 and 2 aren't far behind. Dead Space 2 is also in the running. Loved the first one, but this one blows it outta the water.

That's all fine and dandy, but what do you do when you beat the game?

I take it a lot of you guys do the "campaign" more than the other stuff? Going off Swedd's ? here.

With Halo I seldom play campaign except for the challenges. IMO those are too boring.

Swedd: Move on to new games and go back for 2nd and 3rd playthroughs on the great ones. And don't tell me you actually play that steaming pile called Black Ops. I know you got better taste than that, bro. Treyarch just can't pull off MP, no matter how many bells and whistles they put in to try to distract you from that fact. The Modern Warfares are king! Still put in MW2 once in a while to run roughshod over the common man with my dual wielding Model 1887s when it's run 'n gun time, and my WA2000 when it's grape busting time.

spectre: My degrees are in English, so I love narratives in any media, and right now, video games are producing some incredible narratives in the form of their campaigns (Bioshock, Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect titles, Assassin's Creed titles are the first and best that come to mind). In the case of Halo, the MP is definitely better than the campaign, but doing the campaign in co-op is a lot of fun I think. Not as fun as Gears of War, but still fun because there is no riveting narrative that you really need to pay attention to.

I actually just hit Prestige level 12 last night. :p I would definitely agree with you that Modern Warfare 1 & 2 are the cream of the crop as far as MP games go but as the crowds progress to the next game, I have to move along with them. (I don't really like Black Ops that much)

I guess getting into campaign-type games is a little too difficult for me as I don't have the budget to buy more than one or two games a year.

Speaking of the Modern Warfares/Infinity Ward group, don't expect another high level COD from Infinity Ward anytime soon. Did you hear about the West/Zampella walkout?

I can respect that for sure. In order to dominate the most people you have to move on to the next one; I'm just happy to hear you say you don't care too much for Black Ops. My K/D is better than all those on my friends list (not on your level though....think it was something like 2.02 or so) but it's just a boring games with pretty bland maps, and I just don't dig the weapons...I'm a shotgun and sniper guy and both those classes of weapons suck for the most part.

Yeah, I hope you know I wasn't telling you to move on to new games and all that; I was just answering your question about what I do when I beat a single player game. When I was in college I was the same way; I'd at most get 5 new games a year and those would be Christmas and birthday presents.

I know. I'm strongly considering going with Battlefield 3 this year because of the Infinity Ward thing. I've always like the CODs because they are more arcadey, but I'm really skeptical of what they'll put out this year.

SWedd523

When West and Zampella left, they took a hell of a lot of other employees with them and started a new company called Repawn Something or Another. Now I know they won't put out anything for a year or two, but I'd be on the lookout for them to put out some insane COD type game on steroids just to take money from IW. Treyarch and some other company is working on the newest COD set to release this year and I think they've gone back to Modern Warfare (where it should be for the rest of the franchise's lifespan, IMO), but I'm a bit skeptical of what they'll be able to do. World at War and Black Ops have been subpar.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them fall by the wayside like SOCOM did (which is coming out soon btw and it looks like trash) and see some new online game take the helm as the most popular. It won't be MAG, I can guarantee that.
