NBADraft.net updated their mock and it has us taking this guy-
http://www.nbadraft.net/players/kawhi-leonard
Who do they compare him to? That's right Gerald Wallace. Anyone ever see him play? He goes to San Diego St.

I'd much rather have Kemba Walker who they have going #12. But Leonard is a Top 15 talent so not a bad thing if he ends up in Charlotte.
take kemba if it is between those two. at worst kemba has a bigger name and better trade value. go with best player available and kemba is better. for what it is worth, chad ford has kemba top 8.

Kawhi Leonard plays exactly like Crash, with better ball handling and a jumper. He's going to be a great ball player one day.

as i have already said, i have only watched the tourney but from what i saw of leonard i liked. but, there is a big difference between playing like crash and having the athleticism of crash. leonard isn't half the athlete of crash. but he does have a better shot.
Which Crash are we talking about, though? The Crash of 05-06/06-07 that was an athletic freak, the Crash of 09-10 that was an All-Star or the current Crash, who is a dwindling athlete who's getting to learn how to play as a winner?

i don't know what it is about kemba that i don't like as an nba player. i think he's been a great collegiate player, but i just don't think he's going to be anything more than a ben gordon/6th man score-first pg. give me terrence jones or leonard at 10.

I love Kemba's game. He takes it to the rim, he is explosive, he can drain the 3, and he looks to dish the ball. I think he's the complete package. But I thnk he has now moved up out of our range. I think Knight will be available, which is also fine by me. Knight is the better defender, and is also only a Rookie. Lots of room to grow his game.

what about the lithuanian centre? He is dropping to late lottery in alot of mocks http://www.nbadraft.net/players/jonas-valanciunas
im not going to pretend i know a thing about him but we need a centre adn the only decent one who was going to be on the market this summer was Perk who has signed an extension. I know its a risk but... Also do you not think that we will get a similarly talented player with the NO pick as we do with our own? If thats the case it would be less risky...

Kanter is projected as a Center. Valanciunas and Vessely are both projected as PF, even tho they are 6'10 and 6'11. Dont have the girth of Kanter to expect to play at the Center spot. With Diaw and TT, dont want to waste a Lottery pick on a PF

I have nothing insightful to contribute; however, after reading this and other profiles online, I think we can actually get a pretty good player at #10. We might not get a star necessarily, but I definitely think we can get a future starter. I'm starting to get excited.

I think we get 2 players who see significant game time. Just how good they become will involve our ability to develope their skills - and a bit of luck.

Totally disagree with this. If the best player available is a PF ... thats who you take. But thats just my draft philosophy.

I generally agree with the best player avalilable, unless there is a position we seriously need to fill, and there is a player who may be very close to best available at that position, but not the best player at the time. So in this case, we need help at the 5 spot. Diop, Brown and Prizbilla is absolutely nothing to get excited for. If Kanter/Valancious (sp) is still on the board when it's our turn, I would take him in a heartbeat over any other player.

You need to go watch Valanciunas then if you think his scrawny ass will ever be a dependable center. I feel like too many people just hear names and decide to run with them before doing any research.

I agree, but not necessarily for the same reason. I don't think Valanciunas is too scrawny to play 5, I just think he's more natural at 4, kind of like Pau Gasol. Gasol CAN play center but he's not the anchor-type center, they are both finesse-type players.
P.S.- Leonard grabs 10.6 rebs per game!? He is Gerald Wallace- rebounding, no go-to offense, defense. Except it appears he already has a great mid-range game, which is a plus.

If you sat down and read the scouting report on Leonard without knowing who it's about, you'd swear it was describing Crash. The only difference being that Leonard has more offensive potential.

Yea I did that haha, the only difference being Leonard likes to use the mid-range more (thats a positive in my book)
also, take that signature down mofo! He's coming back! Stop trying to ruin my chances of a national championship sophomore year!

That sig got my through my boring class today. It stays up til he commits to returning.
p.s. Are UNC students allowed to get tickets for other people to come to games and sit in the student section? I know USC football lets you fudge the system a bit. ;)

Of course! When you win a bball lottery you automatically get two tickets, so as long as I could find you a student ID to "borrow" you could come to one.

Yalls lottery gives you two tickets?! Even for the Duke game?
JamieMcNeill

Yea, but Duke game is a little different, like underclassmen are far less-likely to get tickets.

from a Jay Bilas article on NCAABB's most respected players http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/blog?name=bilas_jay&id=6131081:
"Kawhi Leonard, San Diego State: Leonard is a man. He has huge hands, goes after the ball with tremendous will and plays with an unyielding persistence. In short, Leonard plays hard, and he plays hard all the time. Try going to the gym without seeing Leonard there. He loves to play, and that is contagious. Leonard shames his teammates into working harder and wanting more and does so without having to say a word about it. His example says it all.+
From what I saw in the tournament, this guy is low risk from the standpoint he will contribute in willfulness, physicality, rebounding, leadership. He likes to palm the ball it looks like a pea in his huge mitts, which seem to have glue on them. HOWEVER, to me he looked like a PF. Yes he spent offensive sets on the wing, but seemed stiff, his willfulness and power better suited near the basket. He will be an asset to a team, but would not be my first choice on the wing.

for once i think bilas is spot on with his assessment. i liked not reading the words "upside" or "wingspan". hopefully "mitts" is not his new phrase.
