View Full Version : Maybe Jackson for Cleveland's second first rounder?

Assuming that Cleveland's second first rounder doesn't win the lottery, do you think there's any chance they'd trade the pick for Jackson?

Since they have Barron, I wonder if they'd be interested in reuniting the two along with whoever they get with their first pick to try to create a team that can win some games now rather than rebuild. Yeah, they'd be taking on salary and wouldn't necessarily be a playoff team, but they'll also be pretty desperate to get people to come to games.

What about something like this where we take on Jamison's contract? Obviously, that trade is a lot less appealing (almost an even swap of salaries owed), but we could pay Jamison $15M next season and be done with it rather than $19 for two more seasons with Jax.

Imagine something like Kemba Walker and one year of Jamison for Jackson?

First of all, absolutely, positively no to Kemba Walker. Never in a million years do I want to be the team to pick that bust.

Secondly, I'd do it but I don't know why Cleveland would.

Well, they had all of that talk last summer about wanting to win right away. So, I'm just wondering if they'd try to get Jackson for that pick rather than draft two rookies.

Kemba was just an example.

What about Jamison for Jackson straight up? Again, it would cost us more next year, but then we'd be through with that contract.

no way cleveland does that. jackson doesn't get them any closer to win now than jamison does. it would have to be jamison and NO pick for jackson and their 2nd for them to even consider it.

Clevland jumps all over ir with Ivering , Blatche, Mc gee , Jax makes that a solid line up with a touch of experiance , thughness , scoring . It's nothing at eight thet makes them a instant cotender.

I can stand moving Jack for picks with most any team who is game for it. Rebuild mode, engaged.

But we'll probably trade him for Baron Davis, knowing our team.

If jax is traded, it needs to be for a first this year in the late twentys at minimum. Jax is a top 10 SF in league. Teams like Lakers, spurs, bulls will give up their late first rounder for him. Keeping Jax will still help us, he is a leader and our only legit scorer.

why would you ever even consider Jack being traded for a late 1st? Especially in this draft

Thinking about this, Jackson or Diaw + #19 for #4 and #54 (or try to steal away #32?)...(use 54 for toss someone into D-league, or perhaps an international who can play in euroleague for a while). Use #4 for Kanter, #9 for the best available small forward, 39 is high enough to get a marginal talent or perhaps a steal due to injury this summer etc.

Yer i like it for Diaw, love it actually. I hear Mini are interested in maybe shipping their pick aswell. We could get D will at sf. Maybe try do something with jack or diaw there aswell?

Minnesota has been quoted to say they don't like the #2 pick and are open for a trade where they move down and pick up a veteran at an area of need. If they beleive Jack can play the 2 for them (and he can), then would you do this...

Jack, #9, #19 for #2 overall?

I know it is a lot to give up but it might actually be realistic. I would rather give up Jack, #9 and #39 but they probably wouldn't do that.

Again, would you pull the trigger on Jack, #9, #19 for #2?

I think at the very best we'd get an expiring for Jax. In no way do I see him as an incentive for any team in the lottery to go back in position.

Boris might get a late 1st and a slightly worse contract.

agreed. jax will not be moved for much. i think the only way we get a deal with minny is if we give them dj aug. they may do that because they are still looking for a pg to fill in for rubio until he comes over. dj is a risk free way to do that because he is still on his rookie contract and will be able to be extended on the cheap. i would strongly bet dj, 9 and 19 would get consideration but i would hold out for dj and 19. i would settle for dj and 9 for #2 and randolph or beasley.

if we can somehow guarantee that we get reggie jackson out of this draft, then i would be okay with trading dj and #9 to move up to #2 to take williams, and then snag jackson with our 2nd pick. we would be arguably the youngest team in the league, but would definitely be in an okc/pdx kind of position setting us up for the future. i also get the feeling that minny might take kanter at 2, so maybe utah at 3 is where we might also need to discuss trading with.
