Do you guys have any 1st round upsets that you'd like to predict?

Rooting for Dallas to win it all. Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd are two guys I'd like to see win a championship.

From the East I want Miami and Boston out ASAP. I also want the Lakers out ASAP.

Spurs over Grizzlies, although this should be good.

Lakers over Hornets, likely a sweep

Portland over Dallas, go Crash!

Thunder over Nuggets, although it'll likely go 7. I wish these two didn't have to play in Round one.

Bulls over Pacers, break out the brooms

Heat over 76ers, Philly might sneak out one W but it won't be close

Celtics over NYK, Knicks aren't there yet and Boston won't lose in Round 1

Magic over Hawks, Laryr Drew sucks.

Marvel

Crash......i mean Portland over Dallas

Grizzlies over Spurs

I think that Thunder - Denver series will be over quicker than a lot of people think

Lakers - Hornets....yawn

Bulls - Pacers....yawn

Miami over Philly in 5

Boston over NY in 5

Magic over Hawks in 4

Depends on Bynum's and/or Duncan's health. If either isn't at least 80%, Perkins will own the paint. If not, Thunder go home.

i'm gonna go all poignant analyst on you, and i have not heard this from the "experts" yet. i have seen maybe 10 close finishes by okc this year and i know that at least 5 or 6 playoff games will end on the final possession. okc is terrible in final possessions. the coach draws up absolute crap and westbrook still hasn't figured out that durant needs the ball early not after he pounds it for a few seconds. they always give the ball to durant at the top and try to run a late pick for him and teams just hedge the shit out of it knowing he is going to shoot it. it usually ends in a terrible shot. i think this is going to come into play in at least one series and will be the reason they don't make the finals.

Marvel

^Agreed, that's why i think Presti should go with Harden more often. He's one of their better attackers at the rim, pull up, get to the line.

Crash had a week statline last night in game 1 of the Blazers series.

38 minutes: 8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 turnovers, had his shot blocked 4 times.

I fell asleep on the game early, for any of you that saw the whole game, why did he play so poorly?

this is the reason we made the right decision in trading him. he is not consistent enough to be the man. his off games are nothing new, he is in the perfect situation now because he doesn't have to do it every night. he is a great player, just not for a directionless and now rebuilding team like ours.

That's his 5th ever playoff game getting big minutes, playing against a great team AGAIN where he was stuck guarding Dirk most of the night.

it's not a knock against him and you are exactly right. but he has never been super consistent with his jumper. when he is hitting his jumper he has his 20 pt games but as his lift is going (and it is) he won't be going to line as much. i like him and still think he is worth his salary, but for our team he wasn't going to be able to produce like he will for portland.

I always forget how good Chris Paul is and then he reminds me once again. Although, we should be hoping the Hornets get put down so he remembers to say "Fuck New Orleans, I'm coming home to North Carolina!"

Good win for the Grizz, I hope they can pull the upset.

Crash just could not get to the rim, it was like how we saw in Charlotte, put his head down and was predictable, leading to a block or charge. If he coulda gotten some whistles, maybe he coulda gotten it going, but definitely not a good game. I hope he bounces back soon, I still hate watching him struggle. And fuck Dallas and fuck Tyson Chandler.

If I were the opposing coach in that situation, I swear that I would have one of my players immediately take out one of Ray Allen's knees.
He has hit that last second three so many times, that there is no way he should be allowed to get that shot off.

Yeah, and it's even more annoying when you remember how Melo got called for an offensive foul on a play earlier. Either let them play or call it for, for both teams. I hate both these teams, but it just feels so shady when stuff like this happens. The reffing has been spotty in the last few minutes of these games, see: OKC-Denver.

Still, the basketball has been pretty phenomenal.

yeah, they really blew that melo call. pierce was denying him the spot but was clearly pushing him off it and melo planted down and braced with the arm and pierce acted like he got hit by a sniper and they made the call.

I would not look past Dallas and Dirk Nowitzky. Dirk and Dallas look a lot tougher than they used to and if the Hornets can take the Lakers to six games the Mavericks can get it to seven and they may break through this time. We have been conditioned to the Mavericks underachieving in the playoffs but I think this season could be different.

On a side note to all my fellow Americans on this board, this day is a wonderful day and let us all rejoice in the death of the evil nasty son of a bitch named Osama Bin Laden!!!

OKC-Chicago finals, I can see the future. I'm just joking but I just love Durant and Westbrook. Kobe and Lakers are beatable (proved by New Orleans), and I could see Memphis making it but I don't think they will. Chicago is just better then the competition in the east by far, depending if they meet Miami, I would watch every minute of that series.

Lakers can be beaten, but I can't see Dallas being the ones to do it. I can easily see the winner of OKC-Memphis beating Chicago in the Finals.I have Dallas in Seven. The Lakers are showing wear and tear from the last two hard fought championship seasons and Dallas is hungrier I think than the Lakers are. Pau is not playing like he is motivated and the Lakers are weak at backup pg. That will come back to hurt the Lakers. Big men will not be the deciding factor. I look forward to an OKC vs Dallas match up in the next round.

By the way as I write this the Atlanta Hawks without Kurt Heinrich looked good in beating the Bulls in game one. Rose is hurt and it remains to be seen if he misses any games. This is going to be one of the better playoff seasons we have had in a long time. The elite teams who always win it all or at least meet up in the Finals or Conference Finals are not a shoe in any longer. Not that Chicago has been an elite team for quite some time but they are this season. I like the underdog sometimes. However I would hate if the NBA were like the NHL where the elite regular season teams rarely win titles and many times do not even make the conference finals. Still once in a while the lower seed should be great in the playoffs and win some titles.

No matter what I will always root against the tradition laden Lakers and Celtics. Unless the "Heatles" and all their overblown hype are involved.

My hope is that Bynum is suspended for multiple games to start the season (and if he's traded, the Lakers should be forced to sit/suspended whomever Bynum is traded for). Bynum showed no remorse, no apology after the game. It was a non-basketball move and his past (GW foul 2 years ago) negates the fact that Barea wasn't seriously injured.

The multiple games is based off of the chronic nature of Bynum's disregard for other player's safety. Similar to the short fuse that Stephen Jackson has with complaining to refs or Mark Cuban's repetitive fines by the NBA. Keep escalating the fines/suspensions until you actually have an impact on their behavior.
