Looks like Gerald Henderson is going to have an operation on his hip as early as today.
From Bonnell http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/05/10/2286644/bobcats-henderson-faces-immediate.html#ixzz1Ly8PUU54
Charlotte Bobcats guard Gerald Henderson has a torn labrum in his left hip that will likely require surgery to repair, the Observer has learned.
Henderson went to a specialist in Colorado looking to discover the source of ongoing soreness in his left knee over the course of the season. The specialist discovered the labrum tear and Henderson is contemplating immediate surgery. Henderson had a break-out season following the trade of Gerald Wallace to the Portland Trail Blazers. Henderson moved into the starting lineup at shooting guard and appears to have a bright future. Bobcats owner Michael Jordan predicted at the season's conclusion that Henderson could be an All Star within three seasons.

I think that this injury may make the FO strongly consider the SG spot at #9 in the Draft. Specifically Burks. This surgery will likely take 6 months before Hendo can try to go full steam in practice. He will be useless until Christmas. And depending on the injury, no telling if he will come back as strong as he was prior to the injury. Really a shame as he made huge strides this year.

As much as it pains me to say this.....I hope there's a little bit of a lockout now. At least until Xmas....Hendo better come back as good as he was last year or else we are in big trouble. Any one know if any other NBA players have had this surgery recently?

So is this how our starting SG is going to be moving around next season?

So much for working on that 3pt shot.
But hopefully this will fix whatever soreness he was having in his knee, I read that those things were supposed to be related in some way.
Article actually said he could be ready by training camp.
On the bright side, he can work on his dribbling, still.

I was listening to Fox Sports 730's afternoon show today and they had Bonnell on. He said Johnny Flynn had the same surgery, by the same doctor even. Flynn didn't fare to well in his return, but that doesn't mean Hendo will have the same problems. I believe he said Flynn came back in three months, which judging from the timetable for Hendo's return, would seem to be a bit soon. I believe he'll have time to recover nicely and we'll see what happens from there.
Hendo is successfully out of surgery, on crutches for two months now.

Disappointed that he has to go surgery. Thought he would make a HUGE leap from this season to next season. Rather have him have the surgery now though, then let his knee blow out later on ala Roy.

this is a massive blow for us but hopefully he won't miss many games at the start of next season
It is unfortunate, but it had to be done. He seems like a hard enough worker that he will do every limited bit of work he can to get better.

Just in time for Training camp hopefully. Assuming a lockout doesn't delay or eliminate training camp.
