Lets use this thread to discuss the upcoming lottery on Tuesday night.
I'm thinking about doing a ritual goat sacrifice to the ping pong ball spirits in order to guarantee us Kyrie Irving
Anybody else in?

Also, Tuesday night the Chat Room (http://www.bobcatsplanet.com/vb/misc.php?do=cchatbox) will be open so be sure to join in on what will either be jubilant celebration or maniacal bitching.

i know everybody is saying i hope we move up to the top 3.... but we can move up to like 6,7 or 8 can't we? This lottery system can be confusing
Here's how it breaks down,
1st pick = 1.7%
2nd pick = 2%
3rd pick = 2.4%
9th pick = 81.3%
10th pick = 12.2%
11th pick = .04%
12th pick = .001%
....Because the lottery determines the top 3 teams. After that, the order is set according to record. There's a chance to go 10th and 11th because teams below us can jump up into the top 3 also. For example, if the Bucks land in the top 3, we'll move back to 10th. If the Bucks and Warriors go top 3, we'll be 11th. If the Bucks, Warriors, and Jazz go 1-2-3, then we'll be 12th.
However, the chances of any of those teams moving up are less than 1% so I wouldn't worry about it too much. We'll likely go 9 or 10th, with any other spot being a far, far reach

In year's past they have tried to coordinate it with an existing playoff game. The Bulls/Heat play on Sunday and Wednesday, which would leave me to believe the first game of the West series is going to be on Tuesday (hopefully we don't have to wait until halftime of a game that starts at 8 or 9 p.m. EST.
If if that holds true, ESPN will have the Western Conference Finals in their wheel house, so Ammo is correct about ESPN/ESPN3. TNT gets the Eastern Conference finals.

I would rather get pick 2 or 3. I dont really like Kyrie all that much and would prefer Kanter by a wide margin.
if we got #1 i would trade it for either:
cp3 and all his glory as already stated
or
to get rid of diop and move down in the draft.

Me, too. I like Kyrie's game a lot. I suppose it'd depend on how bad the contract is (no return of Okafor's deal, please and thank you) but I'm not very keen on the idea of stacking another bad contract beside Diop's while we're looking to have cap space.

I would rather keep Diop, dude played fine when Silas gave him a confidence boost and let him shoot at least 1 jumper. 1 jumper by Diop is better than 5 or 6 bad jumpers/hook shot throws by Tyrus Thomas. Hopefully we get a high pick and picking Irving or Williams will be the safest and best players on board. Irving plays alot like Jay Williams and if is an all-star type player (potentially). Kanter at 3 would give us a center for years to come however, something we havent had since Emeka.

I love CP3s game as well. But we are finaly rebuilding now. I don't want to take on any more long term crap just for one player and be handcuffed again .

he is not just one player. he is the best pg in the league, a hometown guy and possible reason for another big name star to come to charlotte. kyrie is none of those things. he would make us nationally relevant and pack the house most nights.

I listened to a little bit of the Fan today, and on Frank Garcia's show, they threw out an interesting question. With the rumors of us possibly looking to move around in the draft, who would we rather have if via trade - CP3 or Steph Curry? Initially I'm all for CP3 and the true "bonafide" franchise player that he would be for us and give this team some facetime and enticement around the league. However, Steph Curry is 3 years younger, a true Charlottean and his dad was one of the greatest Charlotte Hornets. Curry is a scorer first and not a true point guard, whereas CP3 is a top 3 point guard and dishes out assists like a drug dealer. Then it comes down to price and impending free agency. Would Paul be a max player next summer, and not be sour at not cashing in his chips like LeBron and Stoudemire by going to a bigger market than the Queen City. Curry would be easier to attain and might possibly do more long-term for the growth of this franchise than Paul would, though can he be a PG in this league? Any input?

6+6+6 = 18..... 18/9(ninth overall slot) = 2 . Or even crazier... 18/9... 1+8 = 9....9/9 = 1. Therefore, Zig's rep will yield us the #2 or #1 pick tonight :)

Watching the draft lottery is the most boring thing ever. I would rather watch the decision again.
This year is even worse then most because there really aren't top players to drool over. Irving looks like he will be good, but there is a lot of competition at that spot in the NBA. I am really not even sure how much better he will be then DJ. Williams looks good, but I don't see him being a great NBA player right away.

I think there's a very real chance that Minnesota's pick is up for grabs, especially if Kyrie is taken with the first pick. Minnesota already has a lot of talent at the F spot, so Williams creates a real log jam. I could see them trading down. Perhaps we move up to 2?

I'd take a move up to #2 to grab D. Williams. I think it makes sense for us, and Minnesota is one of the few teams in the league that I wouldn't be concerned about us getting the lesser end of a deal in. I think both guys are in play for Cleveland at 1, but odds are Kyrie makes more sense for them, leaving Williams at 2. If the draft isn't the route that we go, I'd wonder what combination of draft picks and players it would take to land an established young player like Steph Curry? Either way, I think quality over quantity is the recipe in this draft since the talent in this draft class is so all over the place after Kanter. I'm sure every team except Cleveland, Minnesota and Utah in this draft are thinking the same thing though, so who knows.

In a second. I actually wonder if Minnesota might be interested in that too. They've got a lot of tools to have a solid team, but they need a veteran to help them put it all together. Jackson may be the type of guy to give them that swagger. I'm not sure there's a salary switch that works though. Most of their contracts are fairly low.

No need to trade up, it's time to rebuild with young talent. Alec Burks (who carried Colorado to the NIT final four) is still available at #9 and we could certainly use another guard. ESPN's saying we could draft Bismack Biyombo but I don't trust international talent with small numbers after the Alexis Ajinca bust. And NBAdraft.net is saying we'll take Tyler Honeycutt at 19 who compares to Tayshaun Prince and Josh Childress. Our starting 5 could be DJ, Hendo, Tyler Honeycutt , Tyrus, and Kwame. With 2nd rotation; Livingston, Alec Burks, Matt Carroll, Diaw, and Diop. A young and talented team in my opinion.
