If we hold steady at 9 and don't trade up, I have a feeling unless one of the HUGE names falls out of the top 8 (Kemba, Irving, Kanter, etc.) then I think this is the guy we should take. He is a rebounding machine and a tough and gritty player. I think he has potential to grow offensively, especially if he plays in PS's system of "shoot or you'll sit next to me," as a tough-minded post guy, I'm sure PS will work with him on developing more of his offensive game.
I think he is exactly what we need and what we have lacked in bigs for a long time. Tyrus provides some of that toughness/intimidation factor, but if Faried comes in and is anything like Ben Wallace or Dennis Rodman, I think that gives us about 10 more wins next season at a minimum.
What do you think?

I think Faried will be pretty cool! Rather have him at 19, I guess it just depends on who's available.

At 19, sure. At 9, no.

I really like Faried...Most definitely a player we should take at 19. Burks preferably at 9, but I like Leonard.

Faried at 9? what the hell?
No way you take Faried at 9. He's a reach at 19...

My bad, I haven't been keeping up with the mocks like that so I wasn't aware that he wasn't considered a #9 type prospect... But, regardless, yes, I would consider him at 9 because I think he's going to be a steal and probably won't make it to 19. I just don't see teams passing up on him 18 times knowing he could end up being at worst Paul Milsap to at best a Dennis Rodman type guy.
I know Burks has been mentioned a lot here, but I'm not that versed on him. I'm aware he's versatile and skilled, but I don't think he's going to be an impact guy from what I've seen/heard of him. Time will tell though... Seems like a lot of similarities to Brandon Roy, who we should've taken over Ammo, so maybe we can correct that mistake with that pick if he's there.
I don't think we can go wrong with either guy but I think Faried is gonna deliver and you know what you are going to get with potential for growth, whereas with the other players it's much more of a gamble.

You dont really draft a guy at 9 who would be 3rd string, at least not IMO.

AT 9!?!?!? What ever happened to best player available!?
Seriously picking him at 19 is ok but i still think if hamilton, harris or reggie jackson area round i would prefer them
We don't need a PF anyways. We have Tyrus and DJ, and Boris' body.

For some teams who need rebounding, he's good at 15.
Faried will be a premier rebounder in the NBA, but he has about as much offensive upside as Reggie Evans.

this ^ honestly, unless kanter, biyombo or the lithuanian falls to 9, i hope we go leonard or hamilton at 9. come back at 19 and grab reggie jackson at 19 and benson or the usc center (if he's still available) with our 2nd round pick.

I was watching the pre-draft camp today and the entire crew unanimously agreed that biyombo is EXTREMELY limited. They actually compared him to Ben Wallace, but they said it's scary how limited he is... But, guess who they have us taking in their mock - you got it, Biyombo. So now, they have us taking a guy most of the guys on ESPN there think is going to be a bust before he's even in the league, I don't like it.
But, somehow, in the same mock, they had us taking Jordan Hamilton at 19.

I really think they are wrong about the Ben Wallace comparison. Sure he is no LaMarcus Aldridge with the scoring but he has a few moves down low. Serge Ibaka is a better comparison except I believe Biyombo is a better all around defender.
And is Hamilton drops to 19....I will be ecstatic!!!

i watched faried for awhile. offensively he is AWFUL and there are no caps big enough for that word. i would take him no earlier than 19. i wouldn't take bioymbo (sp) either. from what chad ford and them were saying i would absolutely scoop up jan vessley at #9 if he were there.
overall, it is very tough to say who looked good and who didn't because it was just drills and you can't really tell much. i know who i didn't like though jujuan johnson, most of the guards... actually this draft pretty much sucks.
if i were us, i would look to trade our picks. if we can't, i would go with all upside picks. we don't need role players, which is most of what this draft is. if we strike out, i can live with that, but if one works out, we win. and now i will contradict myself and say not to get bioymbo because we don't need a small defensive center or defensive pf. i would take vessley because he is offensive and can play either c or pf.
