The Kings are looking for a potent, ball-moving guard to add to their backcourt, and Knight said he's open to the idea of filling that role. Even if he's not yet sure about the fit. The Kings are expected to re-sign restricted free-agent guard Marcus Thornton and also have veteran point guard Beno Udrih on the roster. "As long as I could come in and be able to run a team," he said of his willingness to play for the Kings. "I'm not sure how it would work with Tyreke, but I'm pretty sure we could play together. I just want to come in and fit in wherever I go." SI.com

With those two comments being said http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3ohqhk3
Mayo was being shopped for peanuts at the deadline last year so #19 and this http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3kdooga
Drafting #9 and #39 pick Marcus Morris and Keith Benson while resigning Cunningham and Kwame and you have a lineup of
Miller, Livingston
Hendo, Mayo, Carroll
Jax, Cunningham, Morris
Diaw, TT, White
Brown, Thompson, Benson
We have an open rosters spot to bring in a young pg so Miller can teach him the game.

Mr Tar Heel--
Which players do you think we should acquire via free agency this year? Would you go after players like DeAndre Jordan, Shane Battier, and Tayshaun Prince?

i quit if any of these players end up on the bobcats after free agency.

Naj for Mayo no way they even think of doing that .
They might think about Diaws expiring and for Mayo. I think they under the cap we wouldn't have to take on any thing else.
We could then look at bigs and s/fs and points.in the draft.
I think Mayo would start over Hendo
Miller is way to old to even consider in any trade.

you quit if we add Deandre Jordan? obviously you dont watch the guy play or seen his stats, he is hard worker who is very valuable at center, he tries to dunk on everybody and works hard to get every rebound, phenomenal athleticism, with an improving jumper. He also protects rim by blocking shots. For 3 to 4 million a year i would grab him in a heart beat, realistically we would have to pay 4-6 a year, but it might be worth it for a 3 year deal, i mean in order to be successful you have to take gambles.

you are insane to think that he will be paid 4-6 mil per year for 3 years for the same reasons you cited. he is going to be at least 8 mil per and possibly as high as 10-12 mil and for that i quit if we pay him that.

you know what chef you are probably right, centers are continuously overpaid in this league and it will continue probably in this off season with jordan, he is a restricted free agent and clippers will most likely match any offer like they have stated. we will probably grab keith benson, jeremy tyler, or greg smith in the second round anyway to produce in future.

now this is exactly what we should do. very low cost, non-guaranteed and at worst we have 7 foot assets.

The way im looking at it we have two years and four first round picks two pick up a core period. A second round gamble might be smart addressing other needs now s/g and s/f . Next season to address p/f p/g center. Hopeing CP3 comes to Charlotte next season . We should have max money with all the first over the next two seasons and expirings.
Wings look like better odds this season .

None as DeAndre would be to expensive, Battier to old and Tayshaun not in our plans

so mr. tar heel you think we should not sign any free agents? Honestly i could see that because of the roster space and 3 draft picks after probable resignings

Looks like Kwame may give us a hometown discount (from Bonnell):
Kwame Brown update: Despite becoming an unrestricted free agent, 10-year veteran center Kwame Brown has been working out daily with the coaches, particularly Paul Silas. Much of the focus has been on improving Brown's shot release, in part to improve his foul-shooting and also to give him more options in the pick-and-roll.
Silas' effort clearly leaves Brown wanting to re-sign here.
"This is the first time in a long time that, with an organization, I feel like they want me here," said Brown, a former No. 1 overall pick on his first NBA team.
"You want a coach like Paul, who loves to teach, not always yelling. I'm not saying Paul is a pushover, but the quality of time he spends with you and his people skills, you've got to have that when you draft young guys, or you shouldn't draft them."

Your saying at worst we can have 7 ft assets? Was Ajinca and asset? really?
I totally understand Kwame's position. He wants to play and feel welcomed, period and he's getting that here. Hopefully this means he stays for less.

I say trade all picks this year and whoever needs to be traded and bring in Monta Ellis, OJ Mayo, and Michael Beasley. Its a very radical move...but I think its crazy enough to work...and if we could somehow keep Captain Jackson...we would be Golden.

A team with Captain Jack, Ellis, Mayo, and Beasley. That would be a team of thugs that would lead the league in technicals. We could add Delonte West to the mix for fun.

If Beasley comes avaliable I would take him. The Sixers are in talks with everyone about Iggy, why not help them send him to the Clips and get back Kaman.

I know my math will be crazy wrong but roughly this should add around 23 mil to current payroll...We got around 10 to play with so that really leaves around 13 mil over...Who do you cut from our team to make this work? Are these people that you could actually work into a deal?

How is monta ellis a thug? because he is black, has tattoos and got arrested for speeding with a firearm once? Dude is married to a police officer and has a very clean reputation other than one incident, no fights, good teammate reputation. Beasley smokes weed and never is violent, not very "thuggish" and has lots of tattoos. How is Mayo is not a thug at all either, just black dude that can hoop... your reason for these guys being thugs its completely stupid in my opinion and you need to re-check your evaluation of what a thug is defined as by people outside of the media. I wonder if people ever call chris anderson a thug but yet he has been in more trouble than 99% of league and has more tattoos

i am under the impression that all black people with tatoos are thugs. and we all know all black people smoke weed. unfortunately, the media is pretty quick to slap the thug label on athletes who get into trouble, but there is never a mention that even the vets are 25 years old. imagine what some of us would be labeled if it was nationally broadcasted all the little shit (that was pretty stupid) between 18 and 25 years old. not excusing poor choices or their responsibilities, but there is a big difference between a violent drug dealer and a stupid kid with too much money.

im sorry you feel that way, i agree that there is big difference, there are no real thugs in the NBA besides maybe JR Smith, a kid who continuously associates himself with gangs and is proud of it, there might be more but JR Smith is just the tool who talks about it on twitter and such

i thought the sarcasm was obvious in the first two lines. of course all black people with tatoos aren't thugs and they don't all smoke weed. but we do know they are all alot more trustworthy than asians.

I say this team does not need to make any rash decisions to win now unless they somehow can end up with two super stars like what happened with Miami. Since that in all likelihood is not possible the most I can see our team doing is trading up to get a better shot at a possible star in the draft. There is always next season and we don't know how our team will perform this season if we stick with the draft as a means to build the team. If our team sucks we may get a real shot at the #1 pick. Lets at least give ourselves a chance to see what we have this season after drafting some players. If we can trade up and get a higher pick that is great but if not we should take what we can get and let those young men play at least a season. Trying for some blockbuster trade is fine as long as it is truly blockbuster but some of these scenarios you bring up really are not what I would call blockbuster. There is a real value to being a poor team for a few seasons and drafting quality players who are young and hungry and could make the team a contender for a solid number of years. As it stands I don't think it is some kind of given that trading for veteran players with some talent or getting those kind of players through free agency will help us. Unless we can get players who won't tie our hands in regards to the salary cap I am not big on going the trade or free agent route. I can see getting a star or superstar free agent but otherwise this team should stand pat.
I am willing to be patient through a losing season or two if it means we have some young talent that is setting us up for several winning seasons. Is it a given that the draft will work out? No. It also is not a given that the other routes will work either. I would rather we take our chances on drafting well and having players grow with our team. That is the best way to have chemistry.

of course i kid. seems like it isn't translating well to some. the only part of my post that i meant was the part about the unfair thug rep that gets handed down because young kids with too much money make some unwise decisions but are generally good kids.
