It seems like a lot of 'Cats fans will be Portland fans too with the Blazers acquiring Raymond Felton on draft night. It seems like Crash and Felton got along well in Charlotte.

Maybe we can acquire Patti Mills in free agency??

I've been a Portland fan since GW was traded, you guys should check out their interactive media. They have a number of weekly fan oriented shows, lots of access, heck they even broadcast a few of the draft workouts LIVE on the internet.

Mills could be an odd man out, they have 8 guards now. Mills is huge on twitter too http://twitter.com/#!/Patty_Mills

Felton has been on 4 different teams in the last 365 days, he wore #20 for us, 20/4...he's going to wear #5 for Portland

#20 is retired for Portland (Maurice Lucas)

You say that like it's a knock against him. Someone called him a journeyman in the chat last night.

I'm pretty darn sure NY offered that contract with the idea they were going to keep him thru the duration. He was put into the Melo deal last minute and Walsh didn't want to include him...but the owner jumped in and gave Denver what they wanted.

Karl wanted to keep him, but Lawson is their PG of the future. Just the other day the Post (think it was the post) wrote a farewell and said Karl should have started Felton and brought Lawson off the bench.

Today:

Joe Freeman: The Blazers' trade for Raymond Felton was at least a year in the making. (http://hoopshype.com/twitter/media.html) Turns out he nearly signed with Port. last summer as free agent.

That was not my intent, just an observation of the numbers. My only misgivings with Felton were a tendency to make untimely turnovers/shot selection and his choice in his initial agent that prevented him from signing in CLT two summers ago. I wish Felton well, and think he'll be in a great situation in Portland.

Didn't mean to go off on you. Guess I'm still prickling a little over that journeyman comment in chat last night.

Some people just love to hate the guy (which I'll never understand)...and as Bonnell said in his piece he was probably the best team mate ever wearing a Bobcats' jersey. It makes no sense not to wish the guy well unless it's against us. Just like every other former Bobcat.

Charlotte, New York, Denver, and Portland. That's 4 teams in 7 years. That's a journeyman. There's nothing wrong with it though so no need to get mad. Chauncey Billups is a journeyman (7 teams) and he's been an all-star. Raja Bell has played for 7 teams, so on and so forth.

He gets moved a lot because he's a commodity, nothing wrong with that.

If he'd signed with Portland like he almost did he'd have been on 2 teams total...but just because he chose the team that ended up trading for Carmelo Anthony he's now a "journeyman"?

He's gotten moved a lot because of the situation. Walsh didn't want to include him.

That's why your last statement isn't correct IMO.

BTW...being on more than a couple of teams doesn't make you a journeyman. Shaq played on at least 5 different teams, but I doubt anyone would call him a journeyman. There's more to the term than just being on more than one team in a certain time frame.

And I'm not "mad". Why would I be mad? It just gets me that people still like to take shots at former players...and esp. those who gave their all for us while they were here.

You think I'm "mad" now...just take an unwarranted shot at Crash. :p

I'm happy for Ray and Crash but this does not give me hope of a good Portland pick next year...

True, but the term journeyman carries a negative connotation. I don't really like calling him a journeyman either, despite the facts to the contrary.

Hate that he hated to be traded from the Knicks. I was actually really enjoying watching that Knicks team and thought they had something going. Portland will be a pleasure to watch now, though.

Ha! I almost included Shaq in my post! Agreed with everything.

Shaq's been a journeyman too these past few years.

Shaq is very much a journeyman. Once you hit your third or fourth team, you're a journeyman.

And BRNC, the PDX pick isn't til 2013, so what they do next year doesn't matter.

A journeyman usually implies that you were never great though. I know the term gets thrown around now as someone who gets traded a lot, but it used to be in reference to guys who were never great, so they'd go from team to team trying to find a home.

It really doesn't matter in the slightest, but the original term was in reference to skilled laborers and artisans who had not mastered their craft and couldn't be self employed. That's why it typically has a negative connotation.

I'd rather have Wallace over any player we have stupidly traded away or traded for. The fact Felton has been traded three times since leaving Charlotte says alot. He's expendable, Just like DJ is about to be....

Hard not to pull for that Portland team before, even moreso now. I really like pretty much everyone on their roster. I wish they'd sign and trade the Vanilla Gorilla from us.
