There seems to be alot of young pieces on here that could help us rebuild once the lockout is over. Who are your picks?
Guards of intrest---Martell Webster, Mayo, Brandon Rush, Ramon Sessions
Forwards---Marreese Speights, Jason Thompson, Jordan Hill, Anthony Randolph, Mike Beasley
Centers---Robin Lopez, Hasheem Thabeet
With the right adjustments we won't be as far back as it seems. All in for the youth movement but we still need to be competitive and none of these players have salaries over 5 million or 3 year contracts.

Adding to that, here's a list of all the free agents:

Guys like Brandon Wright, Earl Clark, Jason Smith, Aaron Gray, CDR, Craig Smith, Josh McRoberts and Al Thornton all looking for a job in UFA.

Mayo.
Is he (and his 5.6 million one year deal) worth trading for? Portland's pick and salary (pretty much what they almost traded for at the deadline)?

In my opinion, I would say no. At this point I am all for losing as many games as possible this season to ensure we keep our pick from the Bulls. If the trade(Mayo for the Portland pick) didnt have any implications on our record, I would do it though (if that makes any sense). I just feel like if we got Mayo, we would actually have a pretty solid team and would do relatively well.
On another note, I would be interested in Thabeet and Glen Davis for more big man depth. Davis would be a nice young piece for us, and maybe Thabeet could try to improve with a former teammate(Kemba) and another project big man(Biyombo). We should also bring in Kapono just for the heck of it.

Chris Douglas-Roberts, get us some depth on the wings.

Agreed. Feel like if he got minutes he would contribute, and I he's not expensive either.

Oj mayo would be a nice addition.
I also think Brandon Wright would be an underrated acquisition. Hes long and athletic and can run the floor. ( i got a chance to watch him play in limited time for golden state )

Are our biggest needs at the 2 position, or small forward, or center ?

Chris Douglas-Roberts, definitely. Anthony Carter would be a good pickup too as the 3rd PG, or 2nd if we move DJ.

IMO SF is our biggest need. FA include:

Caron Butler, Thaddeus Young, Grant Hill, Tayshaun Prince, Shane Battier, Reggie Williams, James Jones, Al Thornton, Josh Howard, Rasual Bulter
I think we could bring Battier back to NC for some veteran leadership.

Reggie Williams would fill the need of 3 pt shooting & Thad Young is of interest to me. I wonder what Josh Howard has left? Maybe we could get a homestate discount, but I wonder what kind of leadership he would provide for the young fellas.

Battier would be a good fit on this team. We should add J.R. Smith to this list of possibilities. He could add a lot of scoring, and we need someone with some attitude to replace Jax.

Alot of those guys would be redundant with Maggette on the roster. It wont be worth bringing in any of those guys IMO because all we really need is cheap/young depth. Im fine with Maggette as the starter.

Agreeded on Maggs for one season. I just don't want to start handing out contracts . None of those guys is top teir talant. H Barnes is still very high on my rador. McAdoo is all so very high .
None of the guys listed we could afford giving more than a one year contract to. I JUST HOPE THE LOCK OUT ENDS AND WE CAN START LOSEING GAMES.
SF is an area of "hurt"...but we have no real depth outside the 4....could argue 1 also if we're keeping DJ...
