7 days old but its pretty interesting to hear what Scoop has to say about Chris Paul, Kemba Walker and the Bobcats owning the Hornets' identity again.

If the NO Hornets become extinct, would I want Charlotte to take back the name Hornets? Man, I have to do some serious soul searching to get to that answer. I just dont know. Part of me likes the tie in to the original team here, but this is an entirely different team. The Hornets left Charlotte. Not so sure that if they become extinct, I might not just prefer the name go with them.

Somebody good with graphics should see how that'd work with the Bobcats colors. I'd hope they'd revamp the Hornet to look meaner than it looks now.

At the end of the day I have such mixed feelings about it.
I agree 100% with Ohara's comments.

I'm not good with photoshop but I found this googling and it's pretty similar

I'm ok with the Bobcats name and don't have any desire to bring back the Hornets name. If they do, fine, just as long as we have a team.

I want no part of the Hornets name... It would be kind of like remarrying your ex-wife that took half your money in a bitter, nasty divorce.

No thanks on the Hornets name; that ship has sailed. If it changes, it only goes to Charlotte Flight.

only if they throw in some guy named Chris Paul

If we got Chris Paul and persuaded Dwight to come, they could call the team the Charlotte Butt-lickers, and I'd still rock the t-shirt.

Here is another link that will certainly piss everyone off
linkage (http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=20463)
D.J. Augustin & Gerald Henderson, Charlotte Hornets – With Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson gone, the onus for success in North Carolina has fallen on Augustin and Henderson, both of whom stepped up bigger last year than anybody ever would've thought possible. Their talent (and in Augustin's case, his size) are somewhat limited on the larger scale of things, but the heart and leadership is definitely there. Those are great qualities in players so young.

I like that he mentioned Biyombo and Tyrus in his frontcourt post...although he says Tyrus has hit his ceiling and Biyombo has no ceiling...whatever.

I don't get it. Why would that piss anyone off? Him using DJ instead of Kemba?

Any sports writer that still refers to the Bobcats as the Hornets ought to be fired. For crying out loud it's almost been 10 years.

Bill Ingram's take on the young back courts:
Ronnie in Windsor:
Which backcourt would you choose and why? Kemba Walker/Gerald Henderson, Demar Derozan/Jarred Bayless, or Brandon Knight/Alec Burk
http://www.hoopsworld.com/images/hw_icon.gif
Bill Ingram:
Everything I've heard about Walker makes me think he's a real unsung hero of this draft class, and Henderson looked fantastic after the Wallace trade. I'll go with Charlotte, even though I am a big fan of both DeRozan and Bayless.

Hope Ingram is correct. I have a real good feeling about this years draft. Real good. Good enough to scare me about being too confident. But hey, we're Bobcat fans, so we are not use to getting two draft picks this exciting. Ready for the lockout to end and in the next 3 months as I would be so bummed to miss some games with this young team.

(Author's Note, 7/26, 2:30pm CST: Include Kemba Walker in this conversation, too. He's going to add a nice offensive dimension to this team. That still doesn't put them in the top five, but it's worth noting. Also, I originally referred to this team as the Charlotte Hornets, but as a few Charlotte fans pointed out, they apparently moved to New Orleans seven years ago. Apparently, it still rolls off the tongue a little too well.)

Awesome to note how highly rated Kemba and Henderson are rated by Ingram.
Real shame Hendo got injured, his improvement could of been phenomenal, especially with Stephen Silas teaching him who is an absolute genius.
