Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown has an interest in joining Doc Rivers’ Boston Celtics (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/bos/) staff as an assistant coach, assuming Lawrence Frank accepts the Detroit Pistons (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/det/)’ head coaching job, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Frank and the Pistons are discussing terms of a deal over the weekend, league sources said, but there is still no agreement in place. However, the Pistons and Frank are both anxious to forge a partnership.
Despite Brown’s credentials and good relationship with Rivers, the Celtics coach is inclined to promote a well-regarded young assistant on his staff – Mike Longabardi – sources said. Nevertheless, Rivers hasn’t ruled out the idea of further discussing a spot for Brown on his bench next season.

How do you see LB working out as an assistant?

Not well.

He's a control freak, and unless he had complete control of the defense and the minutes, he'd quit mid-season.

I...I just don't see that ending well. Now, if he can truly accept he's not in charge of the entire operation, then he definitely has mountains of knowledge to share and would be a tremendous benefit to any bench. But I'm afraid his personality just won't allow that.

What is going to happen, the Celtics will have success with Brown on the bench, then everything will implode. This will contribute to Boston's downgrade along with their age. Yes, go ahead hire Larry, then hopefully in a few years the Celtics will be rebuilding after Rondo willingness to leave and Ray, Kevin and Paul retiring. lol

You know, if he bit the bullet and didn't try to control everything, he would be a great assistant coach. His teaching ability would be great. At the same time, assistants are supposed to be the coaches players turn to and have positive relationships with, and LB is exactly the friendliest guy.

I will roll over laughing all day if I hear Minny actually hires him. I really hope they hire him.

The starting line up would be hilarious. He HAS to play inexperienced players. Unless he uses a five man rotation. If he gets hired hes gonna die a t wolves coach.

I found this at realgm.com and judging from it I don't think Kevin Love may endorse LB that much, from what he stated he thought the Wolves needed in a coach, LB does not really fit the criteria

Timberwolves All-Star Kevin Love has been involved in the team's search for a new coach.

“I have definitely been asked by David Kahn what I thought about the situation, and I gave my two cents,” Love said in an interview with The Big Lead on Tuesday. “I told them I think we need a coach to help us grow and win in tough situations and learn how to win. A guy who is going to be able to work with young guys and go through the growing pains to help us become a better team. There were a few names thrown out to me prior to the interview process, and they’ve all interviewed so far.”

Love said the Timberwolves, who are reportedly interested in Bernie Bickerstaff, Rick Adelman, Don Nelson, and Larry Brown, would need to hire a coach prepared to coach an uptempo style of play.

“We’re going to be a team that wants to run and be up-tempo,” Love said. “And we want to play hard-nosed defense. We’re going to make mistakes, and hopefully he can work with us [while we're] making mistakes and growing over time.”

All the more reason that LB will be hired, because David Kahn will listen to Love's advice, nod his head, and then announce Brown the next day as coach, just so all of us can shout: KAAAAAAAAHHHHHNNNNNN!!!!!
