Not the best 5 players or the 5 biggest stars. Give me the best 5 players that would work together from a spacing, skillset, offensive, defensive and ego perspective. I'm curious to hear what you guys come up with.

Here is mine, feel free to rip it to shreds.

PG: John Stockton - I really wanted to put Isiah Thomas, but he and my starting SF would certainly wind up in a knife fight by mid-season.
SG: Ray Allen - singlehandedly alleviates many of your spacing issues. With all due respect to Reggie Miller, there may have never been a deadlier perimeter shooter in the history of history
SF: Jordan -I know, he is historically a SG, but on my team he is bumped to the 3. He has the size, strength and athleticism to handle this with absolutely no problem
PF: Timmeh Duncan - Absurdly efficient with minimal ego to clash with MJ
C: Shaq - in his prime, he was as unstoppable as MJ.

The only potential issue ( and it is a significant one ) with this lineup is that the egos of a Shaq and MJ in their primes could be enough to implode this squad.

Lets here what you've got.

Any "Dream Team" for me starts with Jordan and Bird. Jordan is the ultimate winner and alpha male and needs to be surrounded by capable non-ball dominating shooters, defenders, and team players. So while Magic is the best PG ever, he dominates the ball too much to fit next to Jordan.

PG: Michael Jordan..... Best player ever has to be on any all-time team. Everybody but Charles Barkley knows that. Impossible to stop and he would rather die than lose.
SG: Ray Allen............ The ultimate floor spacer . He begs you to help off of him to cover anybody else on the floor so he can rain fire on you from behind the 3pt line. Let this man spot up and he'll be trouble for any team he faces
SF: Larry Bird............ Best in game/under pressure shooter and teammate of all time is simply unfair paired with MJ. Teams are forced to pick their poison by doubling MJ/Bird and letting the other go wild, or doubling both and letting the other 3 on the court cause trouble.
PF: Dennis Rodman..... He brings the crazy factor to the team and doesn't need to score to make an impact. With him and Hakeem in the paint, nobody will score or get any rebounds.
C: Hakeem Olajuwon... Greatest rim protector in league history not named Bill Russell. Hakeem gets the nod for what he can do on the offensive end of the floor (Dream Shake) whenever one of my big two has a rare off game. He's also a consummate professional and teammate that can mesh with anyone. The inside outside component is vital to any team's success.

The perfect team with no holes whatsoever.

Lists like these are like "What's your favorite song/movie?". It changes ever so often.

But I'll bite here:

PG: Pete Maravich/Jerry West

SG: That guy that owns the Bobcats, I think his name is Jordan

SF: Larry Bird

PF: Karl Malone

C: Shaq

Most of you guys have put up teams that are pretty unbeatable, and rather than counter that with a list of accepted names at the position I'm just gonna put up the team I'd love to root for the most:

PG - Penny Hardaway
SG - Allen Iverson
SF - Julius Erving
PF - Dennis Rodman
C - Darryl Dawkins

Penny and AI shift on defense if they need to do so. I don't even want to know what this team does when they go out after the games.

EDIT: I took Jordan out. He made me love basketball, but I have to switch it up. My insides are going crazy right now.
I'll go:

PG. Mark Price: Feisty competitor who brings a lot of energy to a team.
SG. Reggie Miller: Can create his own shot and catch and shoot. Also one of my all time favorites.
SF. Elgin Baylor: do it all.
PF. Shawn Kemp: One of the all time great finishers who can get boards and blocks.
C. Bill Walton: Fundamentals and passing.

Pretty much just going on favorites (and going without Jordan)

PG - Jason Kidd
SG - Reggie Miller
SF - Larry Bird
PF - Charles Barkley
C - Shaquille O'Neal

Shaq and Sir Chuck on the same team is probably asking for trouble but imagine the post-game interviews??

Here is an alternative team to look at. this squad would be overflowing with aggressiveness and trash talk.

PG - Gary Payton
SG - Reggie Miller - not a defensive standout, but a trash talker extraordinaire
SF - Larry Bird - He and Reggie will kill people on the perimeter
PF - Alonzo Mourning - sliding him down from center
C - Patrick Ewing - Offensively potent and a defensive beast

This team would be so much fun to watch. How do you think they would do compared to some of these other super teams?
