Forbes Magazine does an annual valuation of the 30 NBA teams. If its research is anything close to accurate, the Charlotte Bobcats lost about $20 million last season. So you can certainly see why principal owner Michael Jordan would want serious change in the next collective bargaining agreement.
Jordan has said he's more than ready to spend on a competitive product, but that hinges on a system that gives small-market teams a fighting chance to compete with the Lakers, Heat, Mavericks, Celtics, etc. While a new CBA is a work-in-progress, here are some provisions reportedly in the discussions that could affect the Bobcats:
