“I like his swagger and what he did for Connecticut in the NCAA’s. He’s got a trail with him – he’s won 11 straight games.”
Oakley is himself a former All-Star power forward who played for the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks among other teams. He is particularly famous for his time with the Knicks and still has a certain affection for the city of New York.
It came as no surprise then that the coach likes Walker, who hails from New York, and he went as far as to say that Kemba could have been the top pick in the Draft, such is his talent.
“He’s a kid out of New York and he’s got great swagger. I think he should have been the first pick in the draft. I think that highly of him, he should have gone number one.”

Looks like Oak is a big Kemba fan

Isn't this going to warrant a fine from the NBA?

Either way...glad to hear it. Oak is in Jordan's ear and vice versa. If he's thinking so highly of Kemba then the reports that Jordan did too seem pretty strong.

Better or worse I think we have the replacement to Crash in regards to our new "face of the franchise"...least in the short term.

I'm thinking and hoping that Kemba will be what Cam is for the Panthers. Hope to see some joint promotions of the two together and how they will lift their teams up.

I didn't think about that, but if Oakley is currently under contract with the Cats as an assistant coach, then he could possibly get hit in the wallet.

Is he under contract though? For some reason, I though he eventually was done with the Bobcats once he had those back problems last season. I could be wrong (very capable of it, actually), but I thought that's how that played out.

Charlotte's sports future rests all on Cam and Kemba...it's looking good

Charlotte's sports future rests all on Cam and Kemba...it's looking good There's no way to argue about Cam...I mean, that one's done, son.

But I'm thinking the '12 pick or some other addition will be the future of the Cats. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Kemba pick when it was announced (as chronicled in the Draftchat) and still love it, and hope he turns out to be a superstar, but I don't think he's the one to join Cam at the top for the long haul.

I honestly believe that when looking back at this draft Kemba will be the guy that teams wonder why they didn't draft him, he is already so good that the scouts obviously believed he has peaked(lol) but no way is he a finished product.

I think Kemba is going to get at least one GM fired.
