from his Grantland column:
6. Charlotte

Status: $5.94 million under the cap ($13 million including DeSagana Diop's amnesty)
Current 2-guards: Gerald Henderson, Matt Carroll, Michael Jordan

Notes: Would the Bobcats make the playoffs with Afflalo, Corey Maggette, D,J, Augustin, Boris Diaw, Ty Thomas, Kemba Walker and (Marv Albert voice) "Bis-mack Bee-YOMMMMM-bo!!!!!"? Of course not. Are you crazy? Here's your logical home for Vince Carter: He could sign for more than he deserves, go home to Carolina and be a major part of yet another disappointing Bobcats season. More on this in a second.

i like simmons and i think he knows a hellauva lot about the league, but he is way off here. no way we sign vince. makes zero sense and he isn't even liked a whole lot here anyway.

Simmons is a douche towards the Bobcats for whatever reason. I tend to only read his stuff if it's about other sports or teams.

i am anxiously awaiting when he and other writers are forced to take us seriously enough to at least watch us play a few times. all we need is ONE GREAT DRAFT PICK. Just one. One superstar. Please, one superstar. and then maybe i can watch the cats on my beautiful high def tv instead of squinting and a blurry, off and on illegal chinese video stream by some guy named justintv (if the government hasn't seized that one too...terrorists setting their crotch on fire on a plane whoops missed that one, but don't worry we got all the pirating websites off the internet). but i digress.

Vince? When he'll be in front of Hendo when Jordan clearly stated that he has high expectations on Hendo and thinks he can be an all-star caliber player?
Won't happen.

It's not often I think a Bobcats player is actually underrated (except early Gerald), but in this same article Simmons vastly underrates Hendo. His list of SG ratings goes pretty deep and didn't have him anywhere. I understand why he wouldn't have had him in the up and comers yet but he should be up there somewhere and he is definitely a reason we shouldn't even think about signing Carter.

Simmons ask yourself one question. Apart from whats good for VC. Why would the Bobcats ever want him?

Simmons is usually pretty sharp about the NBA but you can tell he doesn't have a frickin clue about anything having to do with the Bobcats. We drafted Felton/May six years ago and he still thinks we will sign any UNC guy with a heartbeat because we are just a bunch of bumbling, assclown, UNC homers.

There isn't a single Bobcat fan, player, owner, or front office person who would rather pay VC big money to be our SG when we have GH ready to possibly take the next step for a third of the cost. As someone else alluded, the fact BS didn't even mention Hendo as an up and comer shows how little he paid attention to anything having to do with our team last year.

Now if Vince wants to come on board and ride the bench for a couple million a year then maybe we can work something out but we all know that isn't going to happen either.

Its like Simmons gets to the Bobcats, laughs for 10 minutes, and then thinks (or rather looks aimlessly around his room), "Who would be a horrible player for the Bobcats to sign?" He then sees an old signed trading card of Vince Carter's (unknowingly not signed by Vince Carter) and says, "YES, Vince Carter would be HORRIBLE."

Well guess what Bill? Vinsanity may just end up (http://greenstreet.weei.com/sports/boston/basketball/celtics/2011/12/05/would-vince-carter-make-sense-for-the-celtics/)on your beloved Celtics.

I think that you guys think way too highly of Hendo. I think at best he's the first wing player off the bench for a playoff team. But, I agree that I would rather have him than Vince Carter.

*for the record: I hope that I'm wrong about Hendo and I hope that he can be a lockdown defender and great jump shooter.

Hes all ready a lock down defender . A rich man R.Bell at worst. VC is done for and isn't worth spending money on.

I'm thinking one year - $15M for VC.

Only if that M is shorthand for McNuggets.

Sounds about right for VC. I'd take him for the vet's minimum of one year.
