Marc Gasol?

So maybe we need a subheading for "free agency" Mods ?

Anyway, the letter from the cavs owner to the commissioner states that Marc Gasol might be a max salary player....so my question is, assuming we had cap space, what would you guys offer ? Assuming he signs what might you be willing to trade?


I could see a lineup like this being totally freaking awesome

Kemba/DJ/Mag-Diaw/Smack/Gasol... this would allow a good deal of "on the fly" switching, and if you can imagine pick and roll kemba/smack pass to DJ pick and roll off gasol, pass to SF and in... Kemba and DJ could cover whichever guard they want, pass as they see fit, and be one of the fastest (if not THE fastest) back court in the league while the front court could switch on the fly as they see fit. Maybe I'm dreaming but this would be one of the most fun to watch lineups in the NBA...

Depends on what cover we get at sg , we would need a defensive specialist. It is an interesting line up but I think most people will wanna keep hendo and tyrus to see if they can have a breakout year as legit starters!

Kemba/Hendo/Mag/Ty/Gasol is not a bad line up. But we'd still just be an 7th/8th seed at best.

And that line up is assuming DJ is traded. And we don't know what the DJ trade will bring us either.

Grizzlies already said they'd match any offer... I like Gasol, but we're better off trying to go after Deandre Jordan or some other center for less.

I like Marc Gasol but not anywhere close to a max salary. That would be just the type of move that would keep us mired in mediocrity.

DeAndre is okay, but will be massively overpaid.
To be honest, I don't find why people rate him so highly.
All he is is a great defensive presence and a great athlete.
He's basically a young version of TC.

I read a rumor late last night Gasol was going to the Rockets for K Martin, Scosla and sombody else and 2 first round picks Damn steep price .
Then LA working to move Oldon and Bynum to the magic for Howard.

You know how centers are...efficient big guys are a luxury, not a right.

That said, Marc can't score like Pau and doesn't deserve Pau-like money. He's still young, but I think we'd be better off just drafting someone in the coming years.
