Interviewer: If the regular season started tonight, would Boris be the starting center?
CS: Yep. Yep.
Looks like We'll have a starting lineup of:
DJ/Kemba
Hendo
Maggette
TT
Diaw
Interesting that he doesn't have much faith in Diop, then again who does
Then again, Silas has said Gana isn't in the best shape atm. Perhaps will start by proper season start.
Edit: Even more details. Gana has admitted to being 25 pounds overweight. I got no clue how much that is in KGs, but shouldn't be too hard from all apparent reports of Gana running his ass off in training.
Honestly at this point it is what it is.
If anything this year down low Id love to see Tyrus progress some more, I dont know why but I feel he could be a big asset here now and in the future. Blind faith maybe.
Id like to see us use Biyombo a good bit once he signs. I mean he will get worked this year but if we expect anything out of him in the long run it would be favorable.

Answer: 25 lb = 11.3398 kg (Converters ftw!!)
Doesn't surprise me one bit. Diop has no bisusnes being in the discussion to start on a high school team let alone a NBA team.

11 kilos?
That can't be right...
Just checked on google...HOLY CRAP.
Diop is seriously got some problems with weight.
Big Baby is what, 315 pounds? 142.8 kilos.
How is it even possible to get that fat playing such a high intensity sport...

Sean May says it's a lot easier than you would believe.

To be fair to Diop, he tore his Achilles and it's very hard to keep weight off when you can't do cardio for a long time.
To be fair to us, the 'Cats need to sign a few centers so the Diaw at center thing is more a trial than the norm.

Diop is out of shape, on his way back from injury thats why Boris is starting. Watcing a small lineup will be fun anyway, Boris pulling their centre out to the 3 point line will be useful

bullshit. you can start to use your foot/ankle after 4-6 weeks. at which point a PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE should have the desire and discipline to swim, stationary bike, modify diet whatever it takes to speed recovery and stay in condition. there is no excuse for this. rec league basketball players do it all the time, this guy makes 7 million dollars to play at the same level as us.

except for boris is fat, out of shape and not intense on the court. all the things you need to have a successful small ball lineup. we are screwed.

Diop just reminds me of Larry Brown. I just want to put them both in the rear view mirror and forget about either of them ever being here. That may just be me, but that is how I feel.

I never said it would be successful. Just fun to watch.

Wonder how Dwight Howard would take to defending the 3 point line.
Hmm, Hendo, Magg, DJ and Kemba would have a field day.

In Australia, we have no such thing as a gym rope where u gotta climb it.
Wonder what's with Americans and rope...

If you're comparing an achilles tear of a 7 footer to a typical ankle sprain, you're probably talking out of your ass...
Diop sucks anyways though. It doesn't matter.

Its about a year without any problems . If its a pull 6 or 7 weeks sounds about right. Though 35 pounds in a year is hudge . He could have done upper body cardo. Non weightbarring exercises. Hell im one to talk people get discuraged

considering that i have worked with several achilles tear rehabs, i am fairly confident in my assessment. by use your foot/ankle, i mean it is not in a boot immobilized so swimming, bike etc is possible not to mention arm ergometer. fact of the matter is, he is an undisciplined loser that is why his career arc is where it is.
but yes i agree with your last statement fully.

The funny part is Boris said he was just about to lose some weight but now he is going to have to gain some. Like that was ever going to happen. I don't think it will be hard for Diaw to put on a few pounds.

Jesus I miss the happy upbeat Chef. Diaw doesn't look fat at all right now. He is probably the most in shape player we have on the roster right now as he has been playing constantly since last season. He looks good, he's healthy and he is hands down the best option at center right now.
I find Diaw interesting as all get out. I dont understand the hate he gets, but I guess it goes back to the ridiculous hate Emeka used to get because he didn't try to rip the rim off and snarl at the cameras for 4 minutes afterwards. I hate that fans consider emotional balance a character flaw but whatever. Diaw can play any position on the court, I don't understand the rush to be rid of the guy. I understand that in a perfect world, he wouldn't even be your back up Center... but this isn't a perfect world for the small market peasants of the NBA.
It's a very cramped season with a lot of back to back games and a roster full of dudes that are under 24. It makes more sense to me in gameplan terms to stick with a mobile Diaw at Center and deal with the obvious problems that will entail (height disadvantage). But with this roster, and this season... we might as well stick the youth out there and run all these "experienced" teams to death.

Also, want to add. I think however the court ruling goes later this week or whenever it is... We have to bring Bismack over here. I admittedly am making judgement calls from what limited access I have to him (youtube, bobcats.com, jimmer allstars) But I have seen measured, substantial improvement from him already.
I remember watching this and other videos like this right after the draft and getting excited just based on what could be...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDqJGJwAU0M
Now looking at some of his videos on bobcats.com
http://www.nba.com/bobcats/video/2011/12/08/111208biyombohighlights-1928734
and
http://www.nba.com/bobcats/video/2011/12/02/111202biyombo-1923031
to me... ( and I absolutely realize these are practice videos against no defenders in a friendly practice environment) the difference is massive. Thats barely 6 months apart and the guy looks like a total different player. His shot is more consistent, way more body in it and less arms. His orientation with the back to the basket is improved 100%. I am not saying that he is Dwight Howard good, I am simply pointing out the drastic improvement I've seen in a relatively short period of time. If it's true that he really is 18 years old... then son of a bitch watch out, because he is obviously soaking up every ounce of stateside advice he seems to be getting. I was excited at the raw ability I saw around draft time... now I can hardly estimate his career arc.
Diaw should start, Diop should get minutes in relief and slowly but surely Bismack should be weened into the Center role.

Wasn't it Stephen Jackson who said Diaw could average a triple double if he wanted to?
That sums it up, Diaw has talent but sometimes he just seems to turn it down a notch and lack motivation.
Okafor on the other hand was very disciplined in his approach. I can recall my freshman year of college when the Bobcats were in Wilmington for training camp; Okafor was warming up and stretching 30 minutes before any other player walked in the gym. He took every measure to stay healthy and prepare. He just hit his talent ceiling too quickly.
I will admit however that Diaw seems somewhat excited to play center this year.

i am just mentally preparing for the yearlong crapfest we are about to witness.
i like diaw. alot. he is a great utility player and isn't terribly overpaid. i like having him on the team. he is what is. i don't expect him to have intensity or play balls out. that isn't his game. i am really hoping he goes out of his way to show he can still play in this contract year. maybe we can get lucky and move him at the deadline for something decent.
as for diop, it bugs the crap out of me that he comes in fat and out of shape knowing he is the only returning center on the roster. it isn't his fault he was drafted way way to high or paid a ridiculous contract by mark cuban. but it is his fault that he is not as prepared as he could be for this year.
i have very high hopes for biz. i think he can become something special defensively and could very well become the prize of last year's draft.

I tore my achilles in August and i am just now getting back to where i can jog again. granted i dont have personal therapist rehabbing me every day. but 4-6 weeks is a tight schedule.
Edit: (Sorry, read further posts and i do agree that he should be able to do more once he got out of the boot.)
