More Silas on Ely: "We need someone else, and he's about the only (big) man out there.''

Who do they think they're fooling?

Would have preffered Lexy

I dont know if I would want Lexy or Eiy. But I do know that I'd rather have a wet fart than have either on the team. I'm just going to pretend this is a nightmare and I will wake up and this is all gone.

bing!

Well, I'm giddy and confused at the same time. What's his talent? Being 6-10?

Agreed with ohara, horrible signing.

On the bright side, perhaps 2011-12 Melvin Ely is the 2010-2011 Kwame Brown.

Wait... Yeah, this signing still sucks.

Best Signing Ever.

I'm getting so excited I might have to watch some college ball this year just so I can have a good opinion on who our new franchise player is going to be.

The more I think about this, its not all that bad. This really isn't a replacement for Kwame, more like a replacement of Nazr -- Ely is more of an offense-minded C rather than defensive.

If we can make this up-tempo offense halfway decent, we are going to sneak some wins. But be prepared to see us give up a ton of points every game.

At this point, I just really hope Smack gets cleared to play as soon as possible. This is getting more and more depressing with each day.

Bringing it back like its 2004!

Lets get Brevin, Primo, hell Kareem Rush just got cut. Let's do it like we don't give a fuckkkkkkkk.

Way ahead of you Spectre. I'm already up to 57 games watched so far!

Well, I'm giddy and confused at the same time. What's his talent? Being 6-10?

His talent is being mediocre just right enough good, just right enough bad, being able to play five and willing to sign for one year. I thought this signing would be considered borderline trolling of regular fanbase but observer fans apparently like it and getting nostalgic.

I guess Bobcats have a big gap between 4th and 5th player on their draft board.

It's all because the man rocks a stellar beard/do. Didn't he used to braid his beard when he was with us?

BTW...there's only one of these left. No doubt when word hit of his (re) signing with us the demand went thru the roof.

C'mon now, it can't look TOO obvious we're trying to tank. Would Theo Ratliff have been a better choice than Ely? If we continue down this path, the next signing we'll make is Shaun Pruitt.

To make this season fully nostalgic, lets sign Jahidi, i miss him.

Ely is a big body who can give us effort & six fouls, with his previous experience here I assume he'd be keen to come back.

I'd prefer average players who want to play for us over good players who don't.

Looking back, it's pretty surprising how many of the 04-05 Bobcats are still in the NBA. Crash, Mek, Kapono, House, Bogans, Matty, Melvin, Kareem and Malik Allen. Almost half. I'd bet over half of the original Panthers were gone within 3 seasons.

Seriously though, we need a third guard, so since previous experience is all that matters, is Jason Hart busy? No? Let's sign him, too.

Melvin should be decent in Silas' system, btw. Not that I would've picked him over a few other guys that are available, but it's not the worst deal in the world. He's not guaranteed anything.

Ely is apparently really excited to be here per Rick Bonnell.

And I totally forgot we had Eddie House

Like I said in another thread, "I am treating this season like the inaugural season". Apparently, so are the Bobcats.

Jamal Sampson? Where you at?

I remeber when he came to tears in a postgame interview after the season finale of '05-'06 about how much this opportunity meant to him, getting PT and producing and how he wanted to come back since his contract was up........

Six years later you got your wish, Mel! Welcome back.

I would buy at upper level if i were buying season tix. Cheaper and you get to see all the formation of the plays. As an avid fan of the game, i like to have a bird's eye view of the action.
