What do you guys think is going to happen with DJ?

He's got to be traded at some point this season, am I right?

Its a conundrum because I think he will play well enough to have trade suitors and leave us questioning if we rly want to move him :(

It seems to me Boston, Chicago, Golden State, Memphis, Miami, New Orleans, NY, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, and San Antonio could all use another guard in their rotaation.

I'd be intersted in OJ Mayo still for DJ. Also, Phoenix is interesting if we could get Dudley back or Robin Lopez. I don't hate Pietrus either (but DJ is probably worth more than that). Sacramento has Jason Thompson who could start at C for us and is currently the 4th big guy out there.

I'm just speculating out loud, but I think we could add a piece for the future with DJ. I don't see him fitting into the picture with Kemba and Hendo starting at guards.

are you guys allergic to bench depth or something?

Competition makes teams better. I am as big a Kemba fan as there is. I think he's gonna be a star, but we haven't seen him play one half of a second in the NBA. Why would you ship out DJ, a guy who has proven capable as the starter, and who has showed up to camp with his best attitude yet. Put them in a cage together and the best man starts... its that simple. Not to mention Kemba can serve as a back up PG and SG.

Injuries happen all the freaking time. You need quality depth. you cannot win championships without a good bench, you just cant.

It kinda looks like if we was in a hurry to move DJ we would have another point on the roster. Could be Kemba isn't as ready as we think to take over' DJ posted solid numbers last season and management isn't sure about handing Kemba the rings quite yet . Kemba might have to take the starting spot from DJ. Could be quite a battle? One thing i don't want is both playing toghter in the back court . But we are thin at S/G so i bet it happens ever game.

Didn't stop Boston and LA

But this season is tanking and DJ not getting a new contract says more than anything else regarding the current situation. Like BW said, after January, if DJ isn't lighting it up on some all-star shit he's getting traded. I've always been a fan of his and I will continue to do so but we don't need depth right now - we need to know who to invest in.

Right now i think we have to keep DJ, and kemba comes off the bench. DJ knows the system and the league more right now. DJ thrived in Silas's system last year and apparantly hes, looked good so far in camp. I think this could be a really good year for DJ. If kemba does start balling to a standard where he could start then we can think about trading DJ, maybe near the deadline but right now lets just wait and see how things go.

I agree we shouldn't ship out DJ now. I'd keep him around until closer to the deadline. Hopefully he puts up good numbers and a contender will call about his services.

A good backup point guard isn't critical to winning a championship. Role players who can defend, rebound and hit the open shot are what we need. I'd much rather have a Jason Thompson coming off the bench for our quality depth than DJ...

I'd still trade him ASAP.

Yep, when the right deal comes along, I'd do the same. Nothing against DJ, but Kemba Walker wasn't drafted so he could watch DJ play. Should a deal come along, hopefully it will benefit both DJ and the Bobcats.

I agree both ways, but I rather hold on to him and give Kemba time to learn to system. If the right deal come along, take it but look to deal him when ready.

He's going to want a new contract that we shouldn't be willing to pay. We still need to bring in another combo to play the bench role.

Get it done.

I like the gist of that trade but I think LAL is getting way too good of a deal. Don't they own some other team's picks? A late 1st/couple early 2nds to Memphis might smooth the way. Even still I don't know that they'd take on Tyrus' fatass contract to play behind Randolph.

They'd be sending a first to Memphis. Look at Memphis' rotation. They literally have nobody behind Randolph/Gasol now

All true. However, we have a history of this that hasn't worked out.

Good point; did not check Memphis' rotation. Would they give up the PG tho? Honestly I'd do this without him; Mayo can play backup PG.

Getting Mayo/bigger PG/out of Tyrus' horrendous deal in one trade?

Hell yes.

SWedd523
12-19-2011, 02:38 PM
Well I mainly did that based off an idea by Slam on RGM. He thought up Tyrus for Mayo and Henry (with no LAL included). I don't think they'd do that though and suggested Vasquez or Young instead of Henry. The inclusion of the Lakers was just something I thought about while I was on the trade machine page

I like the LAL inclusion...better fit for DJ. I still worry about the salary for Memphis tho. They're not known for being bigtime spenders at the best of times. Maybe with their newfound success they'll be more willing.

Would you be willing to take Blake instead of the young guy?

Pretty sure I would.

SWedd523

So DJ for Blake? ehhh.

If we could work out a way to get OJ and Blake and ship out either Tyrus or Diaw with DJ then sure

Yeah, that's what I meant.

It also works with Boris:

Just remember we're probably looking at giving OJ starter money at the end of the season. That + Blake would really hinder us making other big moves in the upcoming 2 years (not looking at our exact situation so I might be blowing it out of proportion). With Tyrus going out the only bad money added would be Blake (we're basically swapping Tyrus' contract for OJ's)...and his isn't terrible. With Boris going out we're looking at possibly having an overpaid Tyrus, OJ & Blake.

Then again Tyrus' high PER might make a team bite.
