I just saw it on NBA Tip Off, so I thought it was worth sharing since every other "analyst" has us in the bottom three of the league.
Anyways, merry Christmas BCP!

I highly doubt it as we, but look at it in an insanely positive way. Thomas gets good minutes and stays healthy, hendo plays at potential, kemba is ROY, bismack locks down on d off the bench, and Magette puts up career near numbers and we would make the playoffs. Those all won't happen but in that case, he is right.

Jim Mora is right in this video when he is saying don't talk about playoff. Speaking of playoff making the playoff or not. I am going to make my annual Bobcats season predication very soon a youtube video .And I will start a new start a new thread. But just a small hint I don't believe Kenny Smith is right

Awwwww hellllll no. I want Harrison Barnes or the unibrow.

Sign me up on the Drummond bandwagon.
Drummond, Barnes, or Lamb please. The unibrow has too much of a Brandon Wright, Anthony Randolph, or Tyrus Thomas feel to him.
That being said, if he stays in school another year or two, and packs on some weight, I'd certainly like to see how he looks then. But in the modern NBA, we know that won't happen.
Making the playoffs would be fun and awesome but would absolutely cripple this organizations future when were relying so much on rebuilding through the draft.

I like Barnes as he's a safe pick; kinda plays like Deng. Drummond has much more superstar upside.
I can't see us being anything but terrible. Hendo, Kemba and Tyrus might provide a spark of optimism to build around and maybe we have some chips to move to stockpile some picks (like DJ).

Only Kenny Smith would be stupid enough to predict we make the playoffs.
Saying makes it feel like it's an insult to stupid people to call Kenny Smith stupid...
Hrm
Also want to add he picked the Nets to make the playoffs, a prediction that would have made some sense if Brook Lopez was still healthy or if Dwight Howard had joined them.

If Kemba or Biyombo turns out to be a franchise player I can see it happening, from 6-8 seed, the standings are wide open, however if Kemba and Biyombo just turn out to be supplementary players, I'd rather us tank and get a franchise player this year

I don't understand how there can even be any thought of the playoffs with this team. It doesn't matter how good Kemba and Bismack are this year, this team isn't talented or deep enough to even think about the playoffs.
Consider Durant's rookie year, a team that included Russell Westbrook, Jeff Green, and Thabo Sefolosha. They won 23 games. That's it.
I don't know what Kenny Smith was thinking, but he's dead wrong. This team is destined for the lottery, even in the best of circumstances.
There is potential talent on this team, and in a few years others may look back and realize this team was the making of something special. But right now this team is going to learn and lose. That's it.

Exactly. We're 2 years away from sniffing the Playoffs...and that's only if Kemba, Bismack, Hendo and next years pick all turn out to be good-great players.

Didn't have Westbrook or sefolosha and only won 20 games. Agree with your point but way to pull pseudo facts out of your ass and pass them as true. They did have Wally szczerbiak, Nick collision, delonte west, donyell Marshall,And Luke ridnour though.

I dont think He's overrated. I think he's still young. It's not his fault the media hyped him so much coming out of high school.

presumably, ND22 meant Durant's sophomore year, in his defense the NBA is probably trying to destroy all evidence of Durant's first/last year in Seattle, and in Durant's defense he had Desmond Mason on his team that year. next season they didn't add much and subtracted Mason and won 27 more games.
Back on topic: no, we will not make the playoffs. if we do then we cheated.

Wait, why would any Bobcats fan want to see this team make the playoffs?? Getting bitchslapped by the Magic wasn't a bad enough memory?? Let's build this team the only way possible, through the draft...

Don't worry Nata, we aren't going to the playoffs, and will certainly have one of the top 3 picks, most
likely number 1. Pre-season hope is fun, but it's gonna end tonight. We have no center, can't rebound,
no one to score, and no depth.
Keetch

How is this team going to score? The only guy remotely capable of being willfully dangerous and creating offense is Kemba Walker; who can't do it all himself every night.
Maggette and Thomas have proven themselves to be unreliable. Hendo remains passive and DJA is not really all that good at anything.

I hope we do make the playoffs. In fact I hope we go ahead and win the championship while we are at it. I know chances aren't good, but we still get to put five guys out there at a time and they get to play the games. Until I am forced to face the fact we are headed for the lottery I am going to hold out hope.

How come everyone is so positively negative that we want make the playoffs. I don't think the players feel that way. I believe that they are still going out there and giving their all. They can't have that defeated attitude when they walk on the court. I know everyone wants to lose so we can build. But the players can't play that way. If we make the playoffs, forget the lotto and drafting guys like Lamb, Drummond and Barnes, we got the team already plus minor tweaking. We all know it probably won't happen but if they play their hearts out, again forgot the lotto, be happy and live with it.

Players don't feel that way. They want to win, as they should.
I'm being realistic. No point in me attempting to hold on to some hope of the playoffs this year. Don't get me wrong, I will be rooting for them every night, but I don't see us as a playoff team, therefore I shouldn't expect us to become one.
And on another note I meant to say Durant's sophomore year, I got mixed up since that was the first year of the Thunder (RIP Seattle).

lets say we did make the playoffs.. would it be the end of the world? Lets say we did, and Kemba Walker became a potential superstar, don't you think dwight howard would notice that? he said that he wanted to go somewhere with a young team that he could lay a foundation with a good front office and could compete for a nba championship one day, granted we would lose our 2012 draft pick, but if dwight howard came here it would be worth it, and we would still have TWO 2013 picks next year. If we did make the playoffs no doubt the league would be abuzz and our young talent would be highly regarded then it ever has, I could see it happening... with a core of Kemba/Hendo/Mags/TT/Bismack/Dwight going foward I like our chances to become a contender.

Big Three's are the in thing right now for Superstar NBA players. We don't even have a big one. The best thing for our future is for Kemba to turn into a superstar and to Draft a superstar next June...

Most of today's superstars were not superstars right off the bat. Kemba has a pretty big following and is damn highly skilled considering he's only one game into his career.

I think that if Bobcats go to the playoffs this would get NBAs attention. Free agents will take notice of how great playing in Charlotte can be.

12-28-2011, 12:36 AM
I agree that if we miraculously make it, it would be a selling point in free agency, to a superstar, you have players that can take a team minus the star to the playoffs, add me to the mix and how far can we go. But in the real world, it would mean pawning off the parts to pay them the salaries they command. I think I rather stick with the plan and build thru the draft.

Making the playoffs would mean that while we'd be good for one year, we'd suck for the next 3 or 4....it's about thinking long term....2013 is going to be a very shallow draft most likely....
BBQNut

well that would be our luck....we're never in the right position in the draft....always 2 picks in weak drafts, and
just below the superstars in the good drafts.

buy into playing like a team, we'll win a few we shouldn't.
