I can get the stats somehow if needed, but I really felt the Cats played miles better when taking the extra pass or two and getting to the rim than some of their hurry up shoot as soon as they get downcourt mess.

I felt, in the opener, that any shot taken in the first half of the shotclock, and really any moving/floating/non-open jumper, had no chance of going in. Even when our boys made em I still muttered "noooon as they took them.

Did anyone else notice this? Did it seem we got off to that good start because we penetrated and played in the paint? Why do you guys think Maggette developed "drive lane draw foul-phobia"? Was it lack of help from refs or is that whining?

Coach Silas preaches open shots.
If you dont take an open shot, you're going to sit down on the pine next to him.
I thought our ball-movement was nice, didn't take too many bad shots.

In regards to Maggette, have you seen his arms? They're frickin massive.

I suppose i like the open shot rule, though i suppose as well that an open shot is sometimes not the best shot you can get in a possession if the team can work together.

And yes, Maggette is getting into Iguodala territory with those arms. It makes me think of strength, then finishing strong at the basket, and finally and-one scoring. Tyrus could learn from him.

With a 24 sec shot clock, the first open look you get is probably the best you're going to get. Rarely is it the case when you pass up a wide open shot that you're going to get a better opportunity after that. That's why Boris can be so frustrating at times when he won't take open shots. The point of running an offense is to get good shot opportunities, so when you get them, you have to take them.

I concede the point, I just hate seeing perimeter shot after shot miss, when i know we have players with driving skills and the ability to draw foul shots.
