True Hoop - Not Hollywood. Not New York. Not Miami (http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/34711/not-hollywood-not-new-york-not-miami)
Few players list Charlotte as a preferred destination but Wallace, a native southerner, is one of them. Only 28 years old, he declared with an endearing naiveté that he thought he'd retire a Bobcat. Instead, he got dumped into a reserve role as far away from Childersburg, Alabama as you can get in the NBA. Blazers Insider: Gerald Wallace, meet Section 314 of the Rose Garden (http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2011/12/blazers_insider_gerald_wallace_meet_section_314_of .html)
Mr. Wallace, meet Section 314 of the Rose Garden.
These are the Blazers die hards. The rowdies. The ones who start the chants that catch on like wildfire throughout the Garden.
And on Tuesday, they rewarded Wallace with the chant that has become a rite of passage for Blazers stars: "GER-ALD WALL-ACE! GER-ALD WALL-ACE!" If he had to be traded I'm glad it was to Portland. After being so dedicated to us and Charlotte I'm very happy he is finally getting the fan support he deserves.

I've followed Portland since his trade, I too am glad he is finally getting complete fan support. They actually did that chant for him last season in Portland vs the Lakers. GW went toe to toe with The Man not yet named Meta World Peace and it turned the momentum in the game. LaMarcus Aldridge said after the game, it was so loud I wanted to start chanting it too.

Really? By posting a couple of articles about him, wishing him well and pulling for him because he was our best player ever for this franchise?
Really?
Ever since the Bobcats came into existence I stopped watching college ball and seldom watch other games since I gave up league pass about 5 years ago. I think I'm entitled to follow one damn player with some regrets after we push him out the door.

Is it me or did that article sort of just ignore the fact that Crash lived in California for 3 years or so?

hate is be that creepy ex but he is some more news on Crash
Gerald Wallace will not seek a contract extension with the Blazers due to limitations from the NBA's new collective bargaining agreement, his camp has informed the team.
After this season, Wallace will be open to an extension and is interested in retiring in a Portland uniform.
Wallace is under contract for this season and the 12-13 season, but he can opt out of the final year of his contract, which would pay him $11.4 million.
Wallace has not made a decision on whether he will opt out of his contract or accept the $11.4 million for the 12-13 season.
Blazers interim general manager Chad Buchanan said he feels good about the intentions of both sides.
"There is a genuine interest on both ends,'' Buchanan said. "We value Gerald and what he brings to this team. We are open to discussing something long-term if it makes sense financially.''

Hey, it's not creepy if the ex is HOT! Crash is one stellar player with the work ethic and loyalty you don't see in today's NBA...so from my reckoning that's close enough.
Expanded in Quick's article:
Gerald Wallace will not seek contract extension this season with Trail Blazers (http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2012/01/gerald_wallace_will_not_seek_contract_extension_th .html)
However, under the new CBA, the Blazers can only extend Wallace for two more seasons, down from the four-season option in the previous CBA.
If Wallace opts out this summer and becomes an unrestricted free agent, he can sign with any team for as many as four seasons, but the Blazers would hold significant bargaining chips. If Wallace opts out, the Blazers would hold his Bird Rights because they acquired him in a February 2010 trade, and as a result would be able to offer him five years and more money.
Absolutely the right move from his perspective.

update
Blazers general manager Chad Buchanan is understandably cautious in his comments regarding Nicolas Batum.
“We value Nic and what he means to our team,” Buchanan says. “We want to see if there’s a number that fits on both ends. Both sides have to look out for their own interests, but we like what he has done for us and hope he is a Blazer for years.”
Asked if he can afford to pay both Gerald Wallace and Batum, Buchanan is noncommittal.
“We have to look long term for next summer,” he says. “You have to determine what the fair number is” for both players.
