Cam Newton has been showing up for the games and from the interview Mon. night states that he's a Kemba Walker fan. He also said something about He and Kemba taking over Charlotte. What kind of rookie season must Kemba have in order to have the same impact Cam has had his rookie season?

He needs to change the culture of the Bobcats in order to make Cam like impact. I love this move for Cam though. It shows his commitment to the community that he's supporting the local team!

I'd be totally shocked if he got ROY but is still playing behind DJ until season's end. If we'd have went like Cleveland and cleared the way off the bat then IMO he'd have a great shot...but with limited minutes and Silas trying to get him to play like DJ I just don't see it.

Sure it'd have been ugly early on...but that would also be killing 2 birds with one stone if you get my drift.

Cam and Kemba are both signed to Under Armor. I'm sure they could do joint ventures/ads. It would be sick if we could get a building size poster of them together like LeWuss had in Cleveland.

Honestly MJ is a dumbass for not getting Kemba and Cam both in Jordan Brand considering what they both could mean for this city and the cross marketing possibilities etc. Kemba could be our Cam if we played him 40 min a game and made him a 25ppg scorer which we could easily do

Why do we have to call MJ a dumbass? What has he done wrong here? He drafted the right guy and is making the right moves and now MJ is a "dumbass" because he doesn't have them signed to team Jordan. Stop bitching about things that don't matter. Chris Paul is on Team Jordan. How did that work out for us?

Chris Paul isn't on our team

Cam Newton is our megastar once in a generation player...Charlotte's first one ever. Letting him go to Under Armour is just smh worthy. Signing him and Kemba and doing some Charlotte/Bobcats/Panthers/MJ crosspromoting is just so perfect and obvious.

Nobody had a clue Cam would be this good, not even his homers. And who says MJ didn't make both Cam and Kemba an offer to sign with UA? For all we know, UA just gave them both a better deal.

You can just go to a game, see how many Kemba jerseys and shirts people (myself included), and you can see the buzz he is creating. As long as he can keep the fanbase excited about the future.

Do you really not understand what I am saying?

I never said CP was on our team. I said he was on "Team Jordan" and that hasn't helped us sign him at all.

I am just trying to figure out what Kemba signing with UA has to do with Jordan being a dumbass. People are so quick to call people names these days (especially Jordan) so it just bothers me when people bitch about him (and others) without thinking about what they are saying first. If you want to bitch about Jordan, go ahead, there are plenty of things you can call him out for but this isn't one of them and, as far as I am concerned, he hasn't made a mistake in a while now.

I just don't get the reasoning. Cam maybe I can see since JB isn't huge in football but Kemba is the epitome of Jordan Brand, he's a winner, he's marketable, he's good. It's just odd to me that Jordan views Kemba to be a good enough investment for our team but not a good enough investment for his brand. Maybe dumbass was a little harsh but how cool would it be to see an MJ Cam Kemba commercial and billboards in Charlotte :)

A couple of things...

UA is a very small company when you compare it to the big boys and they don't produce shoes (I think). Isn't it entirely possible that they could still sign with team Jordan? I'm not sure of the contract but in general UA doesn't have the cash to be "out-bidding" people like Nike so I doubt Kemba and Cam would enter into agreements that handcuffed them for future endorsements.

Mark my words. You WILL see Kemba and Cam marketing all around the city very soon. By this time next year, I expect that to be common place.

UA may be small but it is the fastest growing company by far. It may actually benefit them to be rising stars signed to a THE rising brand. Also, UA is getting into shoes hardcore and do make shoes for multiple sports. FYI I'm ironically in a UA outlet as I type this

But uh, that doesn't really support your argument.

Sportswear politics aside, it's awesome that Cam is showing up to games supporing Kemba, the team and the community all at once. I love it.

Under Armour has been killing it. Good commercials, good signings. Took football by storm, maybe they will do the same with basketball? Nike dominates, but Rose and Howard are both Adidas, so they have kind of been whiffing on signings lately.

Love seeing Cam going out to the games, hope he keeps coming. Any excitement and promotion is good for both teams.

I agree that it is great to see Cam at the games - it can only help. Good to have Charlotte's big star showing support. It is also fun to watch the other team's players pull the "superman" routine and look over at Cam. I think at least Jennings and Wade have done it so far... Somebody said Dr. Evil did it too, but I didn't see it.

Under Armour's brand is rising. They signed Jennings and Kemba this year, both similar players who play with that "it" factor. Cam shares that as well. Its smart for a company that is rising up as someone alluded to already.

They do make shoes btw, Jennings has his "Bloodline" shoe out right now.

Jordan isn't an idiot for not signing either. Not signing the two rising stars in Charlotte to his own brand isn't going to hurt the future endeavors of the Panthers or Bobcats. In fact, with both being with UA I think it will help more than if Kemba was with Jordan Brand. A dual advertisement in downtown Charlotte would be one of the greatest things ever.

I think this whole "MJ owns the Bobcats so his players should be signed to Jordan Brand" is a little overblown. The only brand I'm concerned with them wearing is one with a Bobcats logo on it. Jordan Brand has its share of stars already signed to it, let Cam and Kemba do their thing with UA and potentially become the face of that brand.

I would love seeing a huge ad on a building in Uptown with C+K.

I did. Posted it all over Panthers Huddle. I hate that site because its most crazy and or racist rednecks.

Kemba and Cam both can finally bring some type of media spotlight to North Carolina sports. To bad the world is going to end in 2012....sucks

You didn't think he'd set the rookie passing record.

Cam had an all-time great rookie season. Granted, he's not in the playoffs, but his regular season numbers are historic and his significance to the change in the Panthers play is immense.

Kemba would have to be a 25 ppg scorer and win ROY while making our team better for him to match Cam.

Really, that's a completely unfair comparison given how impressive Cam has been.

I don't think it is. There were so many detractors to how great or good Cam would be. Yet he excelled. Now we are in the beginning of the NBA season and Kemba is just getting started. Who's to say he won't take the rest of the season by storm? There is optimism for the future. So I think it's a fair question to ask.

Cam was a number 1 pick, Kemba wasn't i think its great we have 2 guys ready to be the face of Pro Sports in North Carolina (even tho im in england lol) But part of me is worried that Kemba might never be as good as Cam in relative terms. We shouldn't ever get at him for that

They are in completely different situations. Cam is the only NFL caliber qb on the Panthers. He was given the keys from day 1. Kemba isn't even the best pg (right now) on our roster. I agree that we should probably temper our expectations for Kemba.
