It is refreshing that a player want to come here and play. Beside Crash, not many are open to coming here and voicing their opinion about it. I think if he understands our mission, I would welcome it. Need would need a veteran presence here and he would be a good replacement for Diaw when we deal him elsewhere.

Depends on the cost, but I'd have no problem trading Boris for a pick at the deadline and picking up Jamison on a cheap vet deal going ahead.

He has to be a better mentor than Bad Porn.

If we end up with Drummond or Davis and Jamison is still capable of playing SF and hes ok with around 20mpg at best then I'm all for it.

Antawn Jamison has said he would like to finish his career a Bobcat, he's a free agent next year what do you guys think about having him in a Bobcats jersey and what salary would we give him. I don't really think theres any point trading for him.

Do not want him. We don't need washed up people taking roster spots.

3y/9mil. great vet presence to raise and referee the rookies. plus, anyone who wants to be here and is willing to take the money we offer we should take. it really helps to balance the locker room after your 10th loss in a row. just ask sacramento.

Do you think that front office could try to frontload the contract so that we're paying him more while he's at his most effective?

Just putting this out thair it works trade wize , Thoughts
In , Jamison
Out , Diaw and TT
Jamison Vet leadership. Wants to be hear . Would sign a contract frindly contract.
We get rid of TTs contract and be tons under the cap next season . Then we could all so cut Maggs next season if we wanted .

if he wants to come here than he will accommodate something like that i imagine. depends on the tax implications probably (his personal tax not the team/payroll). but sure i could see a 6/2/minimum type of thing. plus we could offer him the opp. to go to a contender if they ever come calling.

don't think cleveland does it. they have no need for tt (they could flip diaw) at the pf. they have a fairly crowded pf situation as it is. they also don't want him to be in front of tristan thompson.

I like him but just not sure if he's what we need given where we are and where he is in his career. He'd be a great fit for a contender. We need to play TT to know what we've got there and DJW is more than adequate as a back up PF. I'll pass.

The sooner you all realize this is a rebuilding project the better it'll be. We will be shipping off Diaw and DJ for expiring deals and draft picks. They need to gather assets and let the young guys get the playing time. Guys like Kemba Walker and BJ Mullens will get playtime in the 2nd half as we'll have spots for them to fill. The only chance we have at creating a winner is doing this rebuilding plan. Besides, Jamison will want to be apart of a championship contender like Miami, Boston, etc...not Charlotte! I know you all are bored and have nothing else to talk about, but the answer will always be the same for any vet player that has more than a year left on his deal.

What is Cleveland's incentive for taking that deal? They take on more money this season and more of a cap hit long term. Tyrus sure as hell isn't an incentive for making the deal; they drafted Tristan Thompson who pretty much is a clone.

No, we don't trade for him. Use Diaw to get an asset more valuable asset. Wait til the offseason to grab him for the right price. I think it would take a sit down and explain to him what we are doing and what he wants. He should not expect a lot of PT as we are developing the young core and he would be needed to mentor (say Smack, DJW and TT) If we do draft a SF he can fill in as a role player at both PF and SF. We would compete to win but he should know that we are not no way close to contending. I trust Cho will work a decent contract out. As far as washed up, he played decent last night against us.

dude brings absolutely zip, zero, zilch to this team. Do not want. Easy there, pard'. First he's a Charlottean. Secondly, he actually wants to play for our team. I think these two aspects of the discussion far outweight where he went to college. I mean, when his classmate, VC was brought up as potentially coming here, I think everyone was aghast in horror at that prospect, including this Tarheel. Believe me, when Steph's contract is up, we'll be frothing much more than now over Antawn, and he went to Davidson. Likewise all the CP3 discussions over the last couple years, and he a Demon Deacon. School ties matter less than you'd like to think when it comes to Cats fans....at least on this board.

I think it'd make a great story and we could sure use a veteran presense a la Smitty, DA, and Juwan, and Antawn would be an ideal fit in that situation.

Fair enough on the college. I concede.

Still think he brings absolutely nothing to the table for this team though. Smitty, DA, and Juwan's veteran presence didn't do a whole lot of good. I liked all three of those guys, but we still never won more than 30 some games with them. Just seems like a wasted roster spot to me.

I think the right veteran presence is invaluable to a rebuilding team.

Is he the right one? He very well might be.

1)He wants to play here. 2) He would be on a wonderfully kind contract for us since his home, wife, kids and parents are here. 3)He wouldn't be under the assumption that he should start. If he got 20 min per game off the bench I think he would be happy. 4) Colleges aside, he is actually from Charlotte. I played against him in a tourney in Charlotte in about 1994 and he was playing for Providence High at the time. 5) Rebuilding is clearly the name of the game but if you don't have anyone for the young guys to go to or emulate, the youth can be a problem. He can be that guy.

I would LOVE for him to come here for the final couple of years of his career. It would make us a better team for sure. Even though he is a veteran, he could be an integral piece of our overall rebuild.

I want his expiring contract as much as anything. I would love to see us do a deal like:

Maggette and Carol for Jamison and the pick portland owes us. We could really surpass expectations this year with Jamison in the lineup and if Kemba or somebody really steps up and gets a cam newton type vibe going, we also have the caps space to make a run at Dwight.

Jamison would be a great vet presence for our franchise, the guy bleeds Carolina blue & is still capable of putting up numbers, he is averaging 16ppg at the moment.

Front load his contract & offer him a FO position after he retires, the youngsters need a respected vet like Antawn to fulfil their potential.

Finally I have to say that the fact he wants to play here should be enough to justify signing him.

I definitely think Jamison could be the solid vet for the young guys to learn from. Just being there to help them with general life in the NBA, what to expect from from it and how to handle it is a valuable thing, I believe. The fact he's a home-grown Charlotte native? Icing on the cake. (Especially if we end up drafting a SF, he'd be a nice backup).

And there's no need to trade anything for him. From that statement, he really seems to want to come home and I imagine he could be signed to a sweetheart deal for the 'Cats. No need to send out trade assets for a player you could most likely obtain without using said assets.

Definitely don't trade for him. He'll probably get traded for by a contender this year (LA maybe?) and pull the same choke job he did in Cleveland with LeBron, then his value will be low enough that he can sign here as a glorified role player.

But I wouldn't even want to guarantee him 20mpg, and it certainly shouldn't come at the expense of better players.
