A buddy at work was talking about how he thought Kemba was going to be a great player... I pointed out that Kemba was a volume shooter and couldent hit the ocean some nights.
He thought I was smoking the crack, so we looked up...

Gerald Henderson has been our best shooter this season, he is a big player for us and he must take 15 or more shots per game if we are going to win games

Good topic.

I would rather compare Kemba and DJ against other point guards. Comparing PG% to big man% is like comparing apples to oranges, for reasons I am sure you are aware of.

But even then, they rank pretty low among the point guards getting a lot of run. (I'm using espn.com's nba statistics feature)

I'm more interested in total Points Per Shot(fg attempts). Since DJ makes a high number of threes and a decent amount of free throws, that jumps him up 3 spots among point guards compared to his ranking in field goal percentage. But STILL, he's mediocre to poor as a starting point guard shooter this year, speaking statistically.

DJ is about what he is going to be, but I'm not so worried about Kemba yet. Rookies tend to struggle in this regard.

I'll never expect Kemba to have a high overall field goal percentage, but if he learns to get fouled for easy trips to the line, his Points per Shot stat could be decent.

You know what's funny? Ray Felton is pretty low on the PG shooting list as well. So far we don't know how to draft point guards who can shoot the darn ball at the nba level.

More proof of the insanity of paying DJA big money to stick around. His specialty is supposed to be shooting yet he is among the worst in the league. Kemba isn't any better but at least we can blame his lousiness on being a rookie. I would rather pay Kemba 2-3mil a year to be an undersized PG who can't shoot than pay him that AND pay DJA another 7-8mil to do the same thing.

Totally hear ya. And I don't see DJ improving much more. Hopefully Kemba can.

can we afford to not start Mullens ? I dont think we can purley on his offensive skills and his shooting percentage. I agree he needs to toughen up when rebounding but that will come in time
